74jax your making me feel really under prepared....we have managed to pay the deposit on the venue and photographer, bought the wedding dress and booked the registar but apart from that we havent done anything else....it feels like its so far away and that we have so much time but Im sure that it will fly by so think we may have to start getting a move on!

Seriously you have loads of time. I was just off work sick for 5 months and believe me I had NOTHING to do :rotfl: I wasn't even allowed out of the house. So it was organise a wedding or go insane

It helped me through a really rough time and I love looking at everything I managed to buy and get great deals on. I am having a sort out today and putting a lot of stuff up into the loft as it's all just in boxes at the moment.

You still have all the exciting stuff to do, whereas I have everything, from the post box and wishing tree to the dress, orders of the day and even presents for people... where's the excitement for me now:rotfl:

ooooo we can give notice in a few months :T maybe I need a new outfit for that :j
Forty and fabulous, well that's what my cards say....

Just been chatting with H2B and we've been having one of the those 'what if conversations', as we've been discussing why we are really waiting untill june 2013 to get married and what if.....we brought it forward to August 2012!
Now we haven't decided anything, havent even checked to see if our church and venue would be available then and able to move the date (chances they probably would be free, as its a local village church and rubgy club), but what do people think about this? would I be completely insane to consider having a wedding in 4months time?!!! x

I think you should go for it aslong as you dont end up paying twice as much for moving it or anything and guests can still make it it can be done in 4 months. as long as you ans h2b are happy moving it forward id say go for it!

    CONGRATULATIONS & WELCOME schofield

Alan will be along soon I'm sure and add you to the list :T

We're getting married at 4, however that's just because we are keeping costs down and not having a meal afterwards, if we were I think I'd go for early too - that way you don't have long to wait like you say, but also the day lasts longer too :j

I can't believe the deposit doesn't come off your final bill (hunts out paperwork for ours to check........) that seems really wrong. But yeah I agree, had I known I would defo change occupation and become a registrar!

I'm getting married in a hotel, we didn't want a church wedding, and looked at registry offices but we wanted to be as close to the beach as we could be, so getting married at 4 in a beach hotel, then the evening reception is down on the beach in a beach cafe.

Have you got anything else sorted out? Any ideas etc?

heres a picture of where im getting married

(on pinterest appologies, but im adicted)

bought my shoes which make no sence because i havent even looked at dresses yet but they were so nice and i have to admite so comfy, heres a pic

Halls costing £300 for the ceremony which is actually cheaper than the registrar! cant decide if to have my reception there aswell will cost £600 without food but sister in laws parents say they can do a hog roast an afternoon tea and a buffet cheap so might be worth it only problem is that theres only one cottege to rent on the grounds so everyone will need taxis or i will have to hire a bus.

Decided but not put deposit down on a vw splitscreen for the transport. was £400 for a driven car for 25 miles and 4 hours, but looked closser at site which says you can hire it for 3 nights for £350 just need to find a driver but cant see it being a problem, it even works out because we only live 10 miles away from the hall that h2b can drive himself to wedding with bridesmaid, bridesmaid drive it back and then drive me so getting both set of transport for £350 plus h2b has always wanted to own and drive one of these and we have it for a few nights for cruising (his words) also might end up doubling up as wedding night accomidation unless i find somewhere local which is cheap and nice. (h2b doesnt want to just go home cus kids will wake us early) also decided on what cake i would like im going for a big cheesecake from englishcheesecake.com for the bottom teir, a very sickly choc cake for middle teir (h2b favourite) and a 'naked' top teir cake made by me (love baking) couldnt stand having a traditional boring white 3 teir cake its so not me :D

sorry for long posts loving the planning just need to wait to see what we save for a honeymoon now.
id love to go to maldives for 2 weeks h2b wants to go to australia but with budget we might spend a couple of weeks travelling europe mainly italy which we have done a few times before because i love Venice.
wheres everyone else going on honeymoons? are you going straight after the wedding? i know its the done thing but seems a shame wasting the sun that we 'may' get in the summer months, we thinking if we go somewhere hot we might go in the winter months cus we will appriciate it more.

    ill be quiet now lol:o

Lots of people use pinterest on here, I've never used it but seems a good idea.

bought my shoes which make no sence
Those shoes are gorgeous! A girl can NEVER have too many shoes!

also decided on what cake i would like im going for a big cheesecake from englishcheesecake.com for the bottom teir, a very sickly choc cake for middle teir (h2b favourite) and a 'naked' top teir cake made by me (love baking) couldnt stand having a traditional boring white 3 teir cake its so not me :Dyour cake sounds fab, we too are having a cheese cake (cake of cheeses, not actual cheesecake..... - but what's a naked cake? is that no icing?

wheres everyone else going on honeymoons?
I've ask H2B to sort this, I really don't want to know until we check in  although I'm hinting badly for Cape Verde, but we'll see

are you going straight after the wedding?
we'll be going in the school summer holidays as DD won't be coming with us and will be staying at her Dad's, I can't take her out of school for 2 weeks in year 10, so we'll probably have a weekend in a cottage in UK followed by our honeymoon at end of July

It's all really exciting once you start planning and everything comes together :T
Forty and fabulous, well that's what my cards say....
  • yes naked cake is one without icing because neither of us like icing ( we will eat it but decided to just leave it) cape verde does sound nice.

pinterest is really useful ive found for deciding which wedding photos we like the look at plan is to show the photographer the styles etc that we like and see if we get something like it, have decided on the photographer we like its costing £600 but thats for 2 photographers and one assistant (unsure what an assistant does lol) a cd with all pics on and 70ish prints of different sizes. The only problem is that my brothers friend also does wedding photographing and said he would do it for free but without sounding horrible i dont think hes good enough and when i have had pics done with him before ive felt a bit uncomfortable because he doesnt like telling you what poses to do etc but i prefer them just to say do this etc and have good pics rather than tring to think what will look good whilst he take pics, if that makes sence? anyone else feel this?

jax i love the idea of a suprise honeymoon id love something like that but h2b is horrible at keeping suprises, including proposing and showing me the ring before he even proposed lol

Congratulations and welcome to the thread! :) I've added you onto the list... seems like we have a few 1st of Juners already! I'm sure this thread will end up mobbed this time next year :P

Thats good your deposit is only £50, it means you won't be as worried about things going belly up as you have less to lose (although hopefully that obviously wont happen). We are having our ceremony in the parish chapel we both have went to all our lives before going to our reception venue.

Good luck and keep us posted on your progress

So Juners (that's what I'm calling us, get used to it! :D ), the month after next we'll be able to register our intent to marry.

Who's like me and the OH and are so excited we're doing it ASAP! :j

(And then watch the next 12 months fly by!)
