It seems expensive to me but it might be really good for where you live?.

I've been quoted 1.49 for chair covers but yours might include bows etc?

You can get very cheap fabric and make table runners easily, you could sell them on and recoup some money too.

Table crystals can be purchased off ebay very cheaply.

Mirror plates are 4.99 in ikea for 4 if you have one nearby.

As for the light curtain, I'm well jealous. That will be fab!
Forty and fabulous, well that's what my cards say....

Yeah we quite liked the idea of the light curtain as the walls are quite plain in the venue so plan is that curtain will make it look a bit special :)

The Chair Covers are the loose fitting covers and come with bows. The light curtains range anywhere from £150 to almost £300! So as you can see the light curtain takes a big chunk of the £410.

Think I'll have another little look on the weekend and see if I can source the stuff for cheaper before booking.
Thanks to all that post competitions :)

Just looking into organising our venue decoration and have had a few quotes. The best one we have had so far is for £410 (negotiated down from £490) and is for:
    • 50 Polycotton Chair Covers with Sash
    • Table Runners x 5
    • Top Table Swag
    • Table Crystals
    • Tea Lights/Mirrored Plates and 5 Table Centre Pieces (Fishbowls)
    • Top Table Arrangement to Match Wedding Flowers
    • Light Curtain

Do people think this is a good quote?

Does this all include setup? As that makes a difference.
There's a local (North East) outfit that do chair covers and sash for £2 setup (£1 for hire only)
As 74Jax says, runners are cheap and easy to make, and the same material could be used to make your top table swag.
A 3x2m light curtain is around £70 on ebay
If the quote includes everything being setup for you then the quote seems fair, if its supply and you have to arrange setup then you could probably do it for half that amount.

    Bought our rings today :)
I know one of the guys who works in the shop and he gave us 30% discount - so effectively ended up getting my OH's ring totally free including 3 years free cover. :D

Very chuffed, should be here in a week and proper MSE :D
Saving for our next step up the property ladder

We gave notice last week, approx 5 minutes with both of us, ensuring we had the right documents. 10 minutes with me, then 10 minutes with herself.
Basically questions were name, occupation, father's name and occupation, address and where were we getting married and were we aware of any legal reason we shouldn't marry.
The separate interviews is to ensure that the couple know each other and that the marriage isn't a sham.
A fairly brief explanation of the legalities, signed the paperwork and paid £70 and that was it.
As interviews go it was actually quite pleasant.

Good luck with the saving, the photographer I'd like to use is being elusive (was due back from a trip this week, been told it could be another fortnight) and I'd like this one sorted.

    Hey, whats everyone up to?

I have had a wee spending spree on bits and pieces.:j

2 mirror cake stands for the cupcakes
    round mirrors for table centres
Lovely cream plant pots with lacy edge from Ikea for table centres ( for Orchid plants, which I will get later ) really pleased with them at £2.75 each. I will give the plants in the pots as gifts to the people who have helped with the wedding, made cakes etc.
Little glass tealight holders from Ikea.
Little white glass vases and fake orchids to have on the cake table.
Also got a funky long photo frame that I could use for a seating plan or just use it to put pics of us, maybe as kids. Or even do both! It looks like a strip of photographic film. Maybe I could get 3 strips and do the middle one as a table plan and put pics in the other two.
I have also started buying bits to make my invites. I am planning on Vellum wallets with the invites as inserts with ribbons to decorate.
I just have to decide on which shade of purple to go with and hope I can get all my bits to match.

    Whats everyone else up to?????
