Eeeeek, just over a year til ours (29th June 2013) - I've not done much in the way of planning at all yet! We've sent out all our "save the date" cards bar one or two strays, the ceremony and reception are booked, aaaand that's about it...

I was originally thinking we could get away with just an Ipod instead of hiring a DJ, but I've realised that might seem a bit "school disco", I dunno. Has anyone been to weddings where the music has just been provided by an Ipod?

Another thing that I was wondering re DJs: we have quite a loooong list of music we'd like played - could I just hand this to a DJ (along with any CDs, mp3s etc that he might need), or would we only be able to have music the DJ already owns (iykwim)?

We are asking all our guests to give us 3 tunes that always get them on the dance floor then giving this info to the DJ to play.

When you speak to DJs I'd maybe ask them if you can provide a playlist.

We're going to do that too :) that's a good idea - I'll send a few enquiries to local DJs, mention the lengthy playlist, and see what they say.

We're also going to have the songs and who picked them by the dance floor somewhere, with something like 'we would like to thank the following for their musical contributions' and then list the songs...

    One year today :j

So excited at the thought that 22nd June will always be our day.

I am feeling pretty organised so far to be honest but would like to know what else people have done so far.

    We've booked:
    church & reception venue
    photographer
    wedding cars
    DJ

My friend is designing our Save the date cards as we speak so hope to get those out in the next couple of weeks, we're just going to send these to the day guests that way we can always upgrade people from the evening to the day if we can.

I went dress shopping the other week and have seen a couple of ones I liked but "the one" hasn't jumped out at me yet so there is another shopping trip to be planned soon. I was told by one shop to wait until Sept / Oct as then the shop will be offering a discount on the back of the wedding fayre season of 20% which I thought was good.

I have been recommended a florist which I need to go and see what they offer.

Look forward to hearing everyone else's progress xx

Wow seems like you have done loads more than me and everyone on the other thread too (I read that after i'd posted), at the moment I feel like i'm researching loads to get ideas etc and once I start buying stuff there will be no stopping me. I guess by sorting out all of the big stuff I can now concentrate on the special personal touches to get it exactly how I want.

I was thinking of doing wine charms too, did you make them yourself and buy the bits off ebay or somewhere else? I really like the idea of a favour that we have actually made for people :)

I am normally an ultra organised person, and so I've really loved getting everything together. I was off work for 5 months due to an operation and sorting wedding stuff helped me stay sane :rotfl:

I ordered the loops of ebay and then got some welsh charms (OH's family is Welsh, some Irish charms (my side) and then I ordered some alphabet letters and made up names of our wedding party. I really like them.

I feel just like you too regarding the personal stuff. I want the whole wedding to reflect us both and that our guests feel they are attending OUR wedding, not just any old wedding. My friends mean an awful lot to me and so I want to thank everyone for taking time out of their lives to celebrate our marriage with us.
