goldenshilling what sort of engagement ring is it that makes it awkward?
Its not a particularly awkward shape but the solitaire sapphire is square shaped with smaller diamonds around it. The sapphire/diamonds stick out further than the band so we are trying to get a shaped wedding ring to fit round the engagement ring so that they sit together on the finger.
We are going to continue looking for a few more months and hopefully can get the ring within budget! I hadn't realised how much trouble it would cause when I bought the engagement ring...I can understand now why Bridal sets are popular. Thanks to all that post competitions

Thanks for all the welcomes.
We've only got the hotel booked so far, so we're a lot less organised than most of you!
Hopefully you'll find things can slot into place now you have date and venue.
What does the hotel booking include?goldenshilling wrote: ».

One option might be to start with a standard wedding band and have a jeweller cut around the engagement ring shape so they nest together.
Try looking for a jobbing silversmith, some will work in gold, otherwise they may be able to recommend an independent craftsman who can help.

Just been out to Crusoe's again today (wedding venue), I always get excited when I've been! It's a glorious day and so the beach was full of everyone having fun and Crusoe's was choca too. Sat with DD and had a latte whilst visualising our wedding :j
I got a cost for having the sangria fountain later on in the night as well as when people arrive and asked how big their ceiling was so that we can work out the biggest kite we can get in there :rotfl:
Also got them to write down there bar prices so we can start working out costings for that too.
Its lovely and hot here in the North East, the perfect time to be sat on the decking of Crusoe's wedding planning :TForty and fabulous, well that's what my cards say....0 -
i must be in total wedding mode after my visit today, but I've just been looking for my shoes and am hoping to tie them in with my visit to London in november, anyway i was on the Jimmy Choo website and you have to make an appointment to go to their bridal boutique. ha ha ha I was just going to turn up! Obviously not your normal shoe shop then ha ha ha glad i checked. i'd have been gutted to get all that way and not be able to even try a shoe on!Forty and fabulous, well that's what my cards say....0

haha ajax, once you get a taste for planning again you always end up on a roll and doing loads. Thats great you guys sorted your honeymoon - where are you off to?
And it's always brilliant going back to your venue, we have been up to urs a couple of times since booking to show family etc. and it always brings it all back as to why we picked the place and just makes me look forward to it even more.Saving for our next step up the property ladder0 -
My save the dates have arrived!! Just free postcards from Vistaprint, but they've turned out really well. I'm so excited, I'm going to have to be restrained from giving them out to strangers.
Booked the DJ too. It's starting to feel like we're actually planning a wedding now.
Good luck with the shoes, 74jax - it sounds like they'll be something spectacular!0 -

Lovely, I bet you're dying to hand them out! When are you planning on doing it? When are you all sending invites?
I know what you mean about actually planning A wedding. After the year mark past for us it all seems so much more real.Forty and fabulous, well that's what my cards say....0 -
We're distributing the save the dates right away (well - to the people we're certain we're going to invite, anyway) but I'm not sure about invitations. I want to do it early, but not so early people forget they said they'd come! I'm interested to hear what others are planning to do.0

I'm not really sure either :-)
We have already told everyone we want there the date and time, so I think fo us that ok, as we aren't doing 'official' invites anyway. Everyone has been asked face to face.
I would maybe work on when your venue needs final numbers and maybe 4 wEeks before then?Forty and fabulous, well that's what my cards say....0
