Hello! How is everyone, what are we all up to?:jForty and fabulous, well that's what my cards say....0

Hello!
Our guestbookposter has arrived now - it looks fab! I've ordered an easel from Ebay for £10 so that we can put the poster up at the reception for everyone to write messages.
I've also found a DJ and have just sent an email confirming that we want to book them. They've played at our venue several times before, and they'll provide the PA system, dancefloor (with lights), and 12 uplighters for £450 - which seems to be quite MSE, so I'm pleased with thisThey'll also allow us to provide the full playlist if we want to (this is the important bit for us) - if they don't have anything we ask for, they'll obtain it before the date - so should be good
Still haven't tried on the dress I want yet - planning to go and do that in the next couple of weeks with my mum and sister (I trust their opinions... I think!).
And we've decided on our first song - Eternity by Imelda May
Where's everyone else up to?:j Married my lovely man on 29th June 2013 :j0 -
i fell out with my reception venue!! could get through to them tried ringing and emailing etc with no luck for last month so emailed saying we wanted to cancel!! typical they emailed straight away, and i mean within a min saying good luck. after asking on facebook of nice places for receptions i came across one we love its an old barn with oak beams etc sooo nice!! there is one very similar about 15 miles away that i fell in love with but was £5000 dry hire. Anyway asked how much it was and its costing £2220 for the barn hire (£500) and 3 cottages with 11 bedrooms for the weekend (half term weekend) so was really pleased. Going to put deposit down next week but then have to find caterers (family friend hopefully).
Was looking through my newsfeed on facebook thursday and saw a lovely wedding dress in my local store which was going into there sale this thurs down from 995 to 250 soo nice so asked to try it on the next day still really like it. has everything i wanted from a dress and suits me cant say i instantly fell in love but the more i look at the pictures of me in it the more i do. only problem is its 2 sizes 2 small. i was planning on losing weight anyway. since last sept i have lost 6 stone and gone down 5 dress sizes so 2 in 9 months should be ok but she said if not they can add a modesty pannel. Supose it will def give me an insentive!! dress is ronald joyce linda if anyone wants to look it up. The lady said she has only even sold one before and it was in pink! mines in ivory. dont know if thats a good thing or a bad thing :rotfl:wanted a different dress i dont do boring but dont want to look silly so if ppl want to give me opinion on the dress feel free!“You know you're in love when you can't fall asleep because reality is finally better than your dreams.” ― Dr SeussI Married My Prince Charming 01.06.13:kisses2:

That dress is lovely - very dramatic! The price sounds great too - go for it
I bought my dress today :j :j :j I went with my mum and my sister, with the intention of trying on some of the Phase Eight dresses. We didn't even get that far - we popped into Monsoon for a look at their bridal stuff, and I took four dresses in to try on. I fell in love with the second one I tried (Waterlily) and there just didn't seem any point in looking any furtherso that's my dress sorted - for the sum of £200 - it's gorgeous and very MSE

I can't wait to wear it now!:j Married my lovely man on 29th June 2013 :j0 -

Fantastic! it's great when you get your dress.
I've spoken to a seamstress about my dress not fitting and she said the make of dress normally has 1.5in each seam so as it doesn't fasten round the boob bit for 3in that should sort it! She said if not then the dress can easily be made to a corset back. I'm not keen on loosing the buttons down the back, but as a last resort I would be ok with that.
I'm going on 9 October for a try on and her advice so hopefully fingers crossed it'll be ok. I only want to loose half a stone before the wedding so it should need altering after that.Forty and fabulous, well that's what my cards say....0 -
Finally booked our wedding car, an ivory Daimler DS40 - it's beautiful and much nicer (and bigger) than in the pictures.
:j
Next most important job is to hire a good DJ - I think this might be tricky as no idea where to start. :cool:Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts. Car loan 1 £11,174, Car loan 2 £5,532, CC 0% BT £780. Debt Free Diary to try & keep spending in check.0 -
I've not been on here in a while. Lovely to hear and see what you lot have got up to! Those dresses are beautiful. I went to see a dress maker lady last week and got a date for her to adjust mine and make the bridesmaids, it seems ages away (april) but I know once Christmas is over it will fly. I have almost finished me invites just need to find an embelishment for the centre! This morning I've typed up my table plan (provisionally)
We are going to sort out OH suits tomorrow as I feel a bit behind with the planning and men will take ages to gather together to decide! Everything else is booked we are just waiting on the Day. Although we have our meeting with the church in November so thats something else to think about EEK... not quite sure what happens???0 -
Well I tried my dress on again a few days ago, and we can now zip up the back!!! The seamstress told me to push my shoulderblades back and hey presto, the zip went up
Just need my shoes which i'm hopefully getting in November and then we can adjust the length and that's ticked off the list :TForty and fabulous, well that's what my cards say....0 -
Hey all!
How's everyone's planning coming on?
I've got back into the spirit of things again!
We now have my wedding ring, it's beautiful and sits so well against my engagement ring, it's safely away now and can't wait to wear it lol
Also sorted out the invites yesterday and can't wait for them to arrive!
OH went to a suit shop yesterday and do the first time tried on some suits, they want £110 to hire the suit, shirt, cravat and waistcoat which I feel is very reasonable, we haven't placed the order yet we are seeing if there is a way to buy instead of hire if we can do that in a MSE way! The shop said if he found a suit elsewhere, we could hire just the shirt, cravat an waistcoat for £60 so undecided there at the mo
Happy planning:jEngaged 25/12/11 :j

Eeeeek! I have bought my dress!!!!
Went to visit a second Bridal shop today and I found "the dress"
Only problem is...............it was in the sale and its 2 sizes too small. :eek:However I am already doing slimming world and have lost 2 stones so far.
Its a very simple style in chiffon but has very pretty diamontes and crystals over the bust.
So strict slimming world regime required to fit into my dream dress! No pressure then!:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::j I love bargains:jI love MSE0
