I just stumbled across this forum (whilst browsing the Christmas forum!) and HAD to join in.

    I'm also a June 2013 bride... yay!!

I have my dress, my venue, my invites and that's about it so far. Eeek!
Our wedding is in Zante, Greece so for some reason I think there's less to do (and I know I'm totally wrong!).

Any other destination brides? Is June 14th your date?

    Eeeeeeeeee exciting!! x

June 14th is our date :D

I have my dress, our venue, register office booked, notice to marry given, invites done, lots of vases and jars got for sweet buffet, post box got, wishing tree got, wishing tree tags got, flowers got! Car booked (bridesmaids mum ordered that for us) cake discussed with company (my friend) just need to order nearer the time! (loads more but off the top of my head i cant think!! lol)

Suit shopping this weekend hopefully putting a deposit down for those too! Bridemaids (1 adult 1 child) will be done in the new year. Place cards to do. General hall decoration and centre pieces to do(already have the gel balls just need the vases)

No doubt there is something i have forgotten right now :rotfl:

I picked up our Notice today, we gave notice back in June but it's been the first chance i had to go and collect it and they wouldn't post it out.

Now just have to wait until I'm able to take it to the registrar in the area we're getting married.....
Forty and fabulous, well that's what my cards say....

OMG you're way ahead than us!

So far, we've: reserved a venue abroad, paid a deposit, bought a dress, bought and sent my day invites, and I think that's it :/ Yikes!!

Although to be fair, we're going abroad and I somehow think there's less for us to do...! Yet to do, is: groom's outfit, decide on best men and bridesmaids (yes we've still not done that), book flights to Greece, arrange accommodation for first part of Greece, source silk flowers for my bouquet, buy gifts, etc etc etc!!

Oh dear... looks like this weekend is going to be dedicated for wedding planning. Wish I hadn't come on here now today! lol

    ;):)

We've ticked another box since my last post! We went to the suit shop with OH and Best Man! Found their suits very easily and they are fabulous quality! Deposit paid and box ticked for them! :D

Unfortunately we have had to change the cake we were having though :( I spoke to my friend who is doing it, and she's known the date for AGES! To be told, her message in October hadn't come through! She is going to Egypt 2 days before our wedding  We were having a cupcake wedding cake, involving 100 cupcakes and a top cake! She can't do us the cupcakes any more as they would need to be decorated the morning of the wedding and obviously she isn't around :( So we have now had to go with a different one! We will now have a 4 tier cake made by her, with lilac ribbon around each tier and lilac and purpler butterflies coming down the cake...it looks lovely i just can't describe it very well! It's meant to be £200 but because of the hassle and let down she's doing it for the same price as the cupcakes @ £150, she's also lending us the cake stand for free (normally a returnable deposit) as she knows she will get it back, and she will deliver it to the venue 2 days before the wedding before she goes away!

I was very upset about it the other day but have calmed down now, still a shame its not what we wanted but it is a very lovely cake!

We have given out our website to those who have far to travel and I was so excited.

I haven't made our flowers yet after our trial run but i'm confident it will be ok.

I asked a good friend to be our witness today and her response was really overwhelming, she was so genuinely happy and pleased and we both ended up in tears (???) and I've been emotional ever since...

We have one more witness to ask, and then that's everyone in our wedding party :T

When really happy things like this happen it totally brings the whole excitement and anticipation back.

We have everything sorted for the wedding and so it's quiet on that front, so this was just lovely.

  • Haha ajax you have been single handedly keeping this thread going! :) Things have been really hectic here between starting my new job, considering moving into a new place and Christmas.

Think come the new year we will be full steam ahead with everything else, but the only other major update from here is OH sorted her bridesmaids dresses and we have officially hit our savings target :)

ps. Krissymas have added you to page 1 ;)
