Yep. I wanted to go there for a holiday a few years back but we never did. Are you going to Sal? My OH kitesurfs and it's ideal.

Your photos will be amazing, Omg the white sand!

We are going to Boa Vista - ended up having a bit of a drama at the travel agents (we went out and came back and agent had booked it on for 300 quid dearer than the price she told us.. long story - see my other thread if interested!) But the jist of it is, it's gonna set us back another 150 quid we need to find from somewhere so put a bit of a dampner on the plans.

But will be fine! Went out for a drink with my best man last night and he gave us our wedding gift - a substantial bit of money to put towards something so was very generous of him and again v exciting. Spent this afternoon beginning to plan stag night with him!

Oooo had a read, kinda takes the excitement out of it. Hopefully they will do something. If they can't do anything money wise, can you not ask for some free honeymoon extras?

    Hi Guys,

    It's all systems go now!

Nice that you have your honeymoons sorted, they sound lovely.
Wedding update from me is wedding invites have been delivered and posted and we bought our centrpieces yesterday we are having candelabra's with a floral and ivy decoration.
Everything else is done and booked and most things confirmed. We have our meeting with the Church on the 16th Feb then I'm not quite sure what to do from there.

Hope your planning is going well and on target if you've got one!

Well Al it certainly looks amazing and you can start planning clothes, excursions etc...... I don't know where OH is booking, one way its so exciting but the other way I'm just dying to know where it is. Clues I've been given are: its December for xmas and New Year, we are going then as when I know where it is I will understand why. Its not Australia but it is southern hemisphere.............

  • Just a quick update from us...

After a long winded battle with Thomson they agreed they were wrong and apologised, taking the extra £500 they tried to charge us off our honeymoon. So its all finalised and can finally get excited to go! (and start paying it off!).

Called up our bus company today to confirm our booking which was taking provisionally last year and have to call back tomorrow (forgot my bank card today!) to pay our deposit so thats something else sorted.

Other than that everything is ticking over. We have also started looking at a couple of houses we might be interested in buying but are exhausted with the stress of the whole process already!

    Hows the foot ajax?

I'm now toying with idea of paying for hotels rooms. Not offering rooms to everyone but just if anyone has booked a room, paying that. The rooms aren't too expensive and - can't see more than 8 rooms or so being booked. But they're for friends who have travelled quite a distance and think it would be a nice touch....... Or is it a mad touch! Ha ha.

Still looking at the min at Bridesmaid dresses. I had planned on selling them but my MOH said something in passing which indicated she thought she was keeping it........so maybe I won't be selling them after all........

  • It's been ages since I last posted so I thought I would give you all an update.

Done so far and paid in full or part paid:

    Wedding dress
    Reception and ceremony venue
    Champers
    Red wine
    Bridesmaids dresses
Hair, make up and nails for 4
    Wedding cake
    Invitations
4 x artificial rose bushes for reception decoration
    Harpist
    Registrar

I have been given a gift voucher for wedding underwear.

We know who we want to use for the music. The band also does photography and videography and are going to do us a deal for all 3 for £1500.

I found the shoes I wanted for £24 from Next but each time I ordered them I was sent a damaged pair or upon reorder they were never delivered! Now need to find some different shoes :(

I know what the table decorations are going to be and I think I can do them for less than £10 per table for a living tree, flower, vase and tea light arrangement.

I have lots of items I can use as favours (they are charity pin badges for a charity that me and my partner support) and I am going to try and make table place name cards for the guests out of salt dough to go with the favours.

I am planning on making the table plan.

We calculated that it was cheaper to pay for corkage than to use the venue's drinks package.

    To do:
Send it invites I am planning on sending them out soon as our wedding is a 2 hour drive away and the guests will need to book accommodation.

    Purchase white wine

Meet with band, photographer, videographer, harpist, hair and make up people

    Sort mine and bridesmaid flowers

    Make cake topper

Make photo bunting for reception venue

Make table numbers and table plan.

    Sort honeymoon

I am sure that there is other things that I have forgotten but things are progressing well :)
