  • Hello! :D I'm starting to get 3.00am panics now - had a wedding dream/nightmare the other night wherein my dress didn't fit (and looked totally different, somehow), unwanted guests turned up, we hadn't sorted any music or timing, and everything just went wrong - argh! Still, it's given me/us a kick up the bum to get on with things. (Where exactly did all that time go?!)

Our wedding invitations are designed and ready for OH's friend to print out (his wedding gift to us - very MSE :) ). We've got a couple of friends who are photography graduates, and they're doing our photography - so we've emailed them details of the venue, and we're going to arrange a visit with them so they can get a feel for it before the big day.

We've also just booked to give notice - £70?? Cheeky beggars - that must be a nice little earner for the council :p but exciting all the same, and makes it feel very real :)

Aw nuatha I hope it's not because OH may be too poorly? Sorry don't mean to pry:o

I'm seriously hoping her health has improved before then, but this has been going on since August and we don't seem any closer to a diagnosis let alone a treatment. She's just dropped to half pay, I've cut hours to look after her and money is likely to be tighter than planned.
The wedding budget won't be touched, its been earmarked since April last year (and is on track to come in under budget) but with Herself's health and a tightening living budget we've given up planning a honeymoon, fingers crossed it will happen.
I only feel this way as a girl at work gets to go on honeymoon the day after the wedding. How ridiculous is that. I know im being an idiot :rotfl:
Feelings are real, though hers will be a distant memory by the time you are enjoying yours. (trying and probably failing to make you feel better)
Your name has got me guessing, I do this with all usernames on here. I have you as Nathen and Una :rotfl:. (remember I've broke my foot and am bored). I read usernames and see something else entirely :rotfl:. Mrsd on here calls me Ajax as that's what she reads mine to be. I better go back and take my tablets.....

I often refer to you as Ajax and miss MrsD's posts.
Unfortunately my username is nothing so romantic, its a netnym I used on bulletin boards and in the early days of Usenet, it comes from Irish mythology.
I have a distinctive name and don't use it online due to some past issues.

So far I've avoided 3:00am panics, mine have been during the day so far -usually at work when I can't do anything about whatever triggered that particular panic, latest one being over card stock for the invites, I have about 10 times what I need.
Invite printing starts tomorrow (and a trial of the wedding cake recipe)
  • Glad its not just me then!!

I know giving notice what a rip off so many hidden costs

Quick question how much are people paying for a professional photographer

I have been sooooo good saving on other things am going to Blow the budget and have someone flown to Italy I know its extravagant but I cant bear the thought of bad wedding pics!

Could you maybe invite an amount you are happy with financially wise, allowing you make personalised things. Then if anyone can't attend, you have 'extra' money for the crafty things?

Good idea, thanks, but I'd rather have the people than the things. I have decided to give in to my impatience and make the RSVP date 2 months before the wedding. The venue needs final numbers a month before anyway, and I'll need time to chase non-responders.

Our tea towel invitations arrived yesterday and I don't think I'll be able to hold off long on giving them out! :)

On other topics - yes, I am definitely getting the 3:00 am panics - though they are coming at other times of day too! ;)

And on the question on the cost of a photographer - ours is £695 up to the start of the meal (images only, no album). I'd like to get some pictures of the first dance, but that would mean paying another £200, so we probably won't manage. For me, photos were a priority - memories fade so quickly without them.

I've heard of these, can you post a pici? I love looking at other people's personal touch. Where did you get them from, I think it's a fab idea and people just bin invites anyway (one of the reason's we did email invites), but this idea is a total thumbs up from me. I'm quite annoyed I didn't do any ha ha ha.

It would take alot to get me to panic, I pray it's not gonna all hit me in the week leading up the wedding :rotfl:

We are quite lucky in that we're not getting married until 4, so a lot of photographers we looked at gave 6 hours worth - taking us well into the night. In the end we settled on one of H2B's friends, so he is staying all evening and well into the early hours.

In other news - I now know what the honeymoon is!

H2B didn't want to tell me and I didn't want to know, but I couldn't understand why he was making me wait to go on Honeymoon until December.... Anyway he started doubting his plans bless, and told me at the weekend.

We're off travelling around South Africa. At first I was 'eh'?? as it is so not what we would normally do. But he explained that was what he wanted and now I'm so excited and 'trying' not to take over the planning of it, as it is his gift to me. However my fingers won't stop googling ha ha ha.

  • Wow - that was my initial ideal honeymoon! Problem is all planning would be my job so after all wedding planning - little honey moon for now then big trip later.

I need to ask a question - me and OH have been discussing First night hotels - we live less than 10 miles away from venue, have lived together 3 years this year and was looking at hotels in the area to have a 'nice' hotel to stay at after the wedding. We are going away early on the Monday morning and the wedding is at 12 so pretty early too. Trying to figure the logistics of getting clothes etc for the next day there and paying £155 for the priveledge was doing my head in so we have come to the conclusion that it would be a lot less stress and in a way nicer to come back to OUR home together regardless of what is the 'done' thing.

    What do you guys think?

It's really good fun planning it all. But pleased he picked the location and booked the flights. I would have spent forever, I just couldn't have picked :rotfl:

I wasn't aware there was a 'done' thing?

If it would stress you out staying in the hotel, then I would just simply go home.

If you're looking at ways to allow you to stay in the hotel, then I would just take your suitcases along to the hotel and ask them to store them for you. you can check-in early, collect your keys etc, just not use the room until after the wedding.

However if you won't be getting to the hotel until 2-3am and are flying off at mid-day, it seems a lot of money to use when you won't get the use of the room (I'm guessing you're getting married on Sunday and fly Monday?).

Well we have finally got the bridesmaid dresses, I can't get about to go round the shops, so we have had to settle with getting them off the internet. They are lovely, so just hope they look like the picture when they arrive :rotfl:

    Hi,

I'm getting married 13 weeks on Wednesday not that I'm counting. And I'm now actually terrified.

It's coming in so fast now x
