Its lovely when people reply isn't it. We too have just finished our invites (just emailed ours) and tbh we knew who was coming but it seems more official now :rotfl:

We pretty much know who's coming, but agree about it being more official. We'd made contact with the folk who were most important to us before we booked a date, but getting the confirmations is really nice.
Despite having said we didn't want presents (we've been together over 12 years) there's quite a few people seem determined that we're getting something - we really hadn't given it any thought and can't come up with anything. (Though I was very tempted when my best man suggested flying a band in from Finland)

Having a bit of a nightmare with our wedding venue - they just don't seem to want to communicate with us and there have been 3 different events managers since we booked our date last year! Each time we have only found out by accident, they didn't tell us!!

Now we are supposed to be having a menu-tasting today and all of a sudden they have decided they are charging us £30 each to do this! We've said no we're not paying and they won't back down about it. Am I being unreasonable about this??
Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts. Car loan 1 £11,174, Car loan 2 £5,532, CC 0% BT £780. Debt Free Diary to try & keep spending in check.

Certainly not if your contract states an included menu tasting. I'd be livid too.
Forty and fabulous, well that's what my cards say....

Thanks 74jax, have calmed down a bit now.

The owner of the venue still wouldn't back down about charging for the menu tasting, although our new events manager did try her best for us. We just decided not to have a tasting as we would essentially be paying twice for our wedding meal for the two of us! I guess we didn't clarify the tasting as we just assumed it was common practice that the price for this was included in the overall charge.

Feeling a bit more reassured after meeting with the events girl and her manager. Will just have to keep an eye on things a bit more I think.

On the plus side I finally got round to ordering my favours last night and was working on the day guest list with OH as we need to get the invitations out asap now.

Congratulations JanineB! :j How are your plans going?

A bit of an update from our camp - we've sorted our rings now :D they're from a local independent jeweller. OH's is a nice solid band of brushed titanium, and I've commissioned mine to fit with my engagement ring (as it has a twist that I want the wedding ring to fit). And we discovered it's true that you can quite often get a better price from independent jewellers than from the high street places :money:

We're sorting out flowers tomorrow - my bouquet, and buttonholes and corsages for the wedding party. Then next week, we're visiting the venue with our photographers so that they can have a look around before the wedding :)

And we're sending out our invitations this weekend! So it's all go (which it needs to be, as things have crept up on us a bit )

We're getting married on 20 June in Cortina D'Ampezzo, Italy :-)

It's a very 'informal' affair, with nobody going with us specifically for the wedding, but there will be about 100 or more people that we know there at the same time anyway!

    So far:
Dress (that I've had for nearly 3 years) altered to a perfect fit
Shoes and undies all still fit
Tiara, and jewellery sorted although my friend is trying to find me a bracelet to match
Notices submitted and certificates of no impediment issued
Statutory Declarations signed and ready to go to the legalisation office with the certificates
    Ceremony booked and paid
Crystal bouquet half done, OHs button hole done
    Photographer booked
and I think that's it at the moment.

We're not having a cake/meal etc etc, but we are having it just the way we want it!

I am off to try on my dress again tomorrow, hoping it fits as it was 2 sizes too small when I bought it in October! eeeek!
Invites have been posted, a bit later than planned but everyone had "save the dates" so know they are invited and have booked rooms etc.
Meant to take a pic of my Handmade invites but oops I have posted them all LOL! I was so pleased with them, maybe I can make one more as a momento.
