Ha! I've had that exact same email as well. Just keep at them, sooner or later they will have no choice but to listen.
I'm still waiting for a reply to my last email that was forwarded to another department.......
They have until Monday.0 -
Good Luck Alan, hope you get something. I'm sick of trying as i've just had this reply "Unfortunately, we are unable to assist you further in relation to the Bubble Bath. Please refer to our previous reply"
They dont seem willing to try, no matter the threats i've issued, lawyers etc so i dont know whether citizens advice. trading standards etc. Poor single parent so cant afford lawyers and sadly i dont know what to do.
Please let us know how you get on, i might wait and see for a few days as all i'm getting are standard c**p0 -

If I receive another cut-and-paste email I will not be a happy bunny!
Thank you for your recent email. Further to your recent email concerning the Avon Bubble Bath promotion error on avonshop.co.uk
Buy 2 choose 2nd Free
price: £4.00
or 2 for -£24.00
Whilst we appreciate that you are upset that we are unable to process your order, the promotion was to buy 2 items at the regular price of £4 in order to receive the 2nd item free of charge. Since you have not in fact purchased a bubble bath from us we are unable to proceed with this promotion. If you would like to take advantage of this great offer please place your order again and if you use voucher code DISCOUNT at the checkout, we will give you 20% off your order. This voucher is valid until 31/12/2006. I would like to reassure you that before we responded to you, we referred to the appropriate authorites, took their advice and acted on it.
I have requested that they forward my email to their superiors as they are refusing to address my complaint...I wonder if they will eventually cave in?!?
Good luck all!

Blimey, they were quick on the ball! Just received this:
I acknowledge receipt of your most recent e-mail. I am sorry that you are still unhappy with the situation. I would like to reassure you that before we responded to you, we referred to the appropriate authorities, took their advice and acted on it.
Therefore, our position remains unchanged from our previous correspondence, that this was a genuine error on our part and we now consider the matter closed.
I am sorry that on this occasion we have been unable to resolve your query to your satisfaction.
Baaa humbug!

::j I finally received a call from Avon coustomer service today offering me my money back and apologising for their poor service. I did not give up and finally gave them 24 hours to satisfactory end this matter or else I would instruct trading standard to commence their investigation. In 10 minutes of receiving that email I received a call and my moneies re-inbursed.::j
DO NOT GIVE UP! I WAS DETERMINED TO GET A POSITIVE OUTCOMEHi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE Forum Team0 -
got this today from trading standards
Hi Louise,
I have taken the time to read the mammoth email's and feel that the response
from Avon is probably quite genuine.
I am assuming that you responded to a promotional advertisement which offered a
'buy 2 get 2nd.free' scenario which formed the basis of the contract, which you
were aware of . Any judge would take account of this if you pursued the matter
to court. Obviously I am only guessing since I do not have access to the ad.
When you ordered the goods and went to the shopping basket you would have known
at that point that there had been an error as the goods were never intended to
be free of charge, the confirmation of the order would be an automated response
not overseen by any individual. Presumably the mistake was noticed once the
order was checked in the processing department and therefore lead to the current
impasse.
Unfortunately there is provision in law to allow a defence of 'genuine mistake'
which I suspect is the case here, therfore the comment from Avon suggesting
'adequate consideration' on your part did not take place could be correct.
Basically common sense dictates that we cant expect to get something for nothing
and I would be reluctant to advise you going to court over this matter, however
I can supply the relevent information pack should you require this.
regards
Claire Randle

No bubble bath for me as I expected! I can't believe Avon send their orders out in such HUGE boxes! What a complete waste. I had two tiny boxes of those face pearls and a letter + the avon book and the letter talking about the technical problem on the website all in a huge box.
Annie I have been known to say ' so what, it's just a misprice sometimes you're lucky and sometimes you're not' afterall they happen all the time but I respect you for standing up for your rights. Companies get away with this ALL THE TIME and it's just not on.
To send people nothing but an avon book in a box and charge them posting is disgusting imo.
I think Avon may have been taking the ***, like we all tried tobecause they often send my/mums orders in jiffy bags!! rather than in those huge boxes they used to.
The £2.00 Coin Savers Club = approx £22.00  :j.. The 20p Savers Club = £17.80.
