I'm surprised at Laurens lack of insight into child protection and use of reasonable force to get her daughter to school. This is very basic nursing knowledge.

The teacher and receptionist would have passed their concerns to the designated child protection person (this is pretty much always the head in primaries). The HEAD would have called social services - NOT the "pansy teacher", and I have to say, if you've gone into school hurling the insults at the teacher that you have on this thread - that's not going to look good to them either is it - a mother with anger issues, along with bruising and been seen dragging her kid to school? You're adding fuel to the fire with that sort of behaviour and you're also directing your anger at the SS referral (I would have flagged up bruising that could have been kicks as well - mentioned it to the head and noted it down in my diary or whatever) toward the wrong person.

Add in a defiant kid who doesn't want to do her homework and whatnot, and KNOWS mum is gunning for the teacher - you've got a recipe for disaster.

You NEED to drop the attitude against everyone or you're placing a nice little weapon in your daughter's hands to play both sides off against the other and get exactly what she wants.

NO TEACHER DESERVES THE ABUSE YOU'RE GIVING ON THIS THREAD - ESPECIALLY NOT FOR RAISING CHILD PROTECTION CONCERNS! So next time they see a kid with bruised legs and don't report it - and it's dad sticking the boot in on a night... or a kid dragged bodily to school and there's violence in the home and they don't report it because it upset you - and the child dies of the violence... yeah right.

I worked for a school and have previously called Social Services. Quite frankly, the teacher did the right thing. You're this girls mother. Control yourself, grow up and start sorting yours and her problems instead of trying to blame others.

other threads started by the OP give mixed messages, when the child was 6 OP described her as very bright, too bright and crafty. But by 7.5yrs, she says that the school described her as slow and that she was just slower than others. She was seeking advice about the BIBCA assessment (not sure what that is) but describes the only other intervention as the health visitor who when the girl was 4, refused to take mother's concerns seriously that 'something' was wrong. Therefore Im not sure where this plethora of assessments since the age of 3 has taken place.

How very odd! Perhaps the mother's state of mind and behaviour is affecting the child.

From March 2008, so next september would be september 2009? Wow, you finished your nursing degree quickly!
am starting a PGCE next sept and a PTLLS in jan this year, i hope to teach Anatomy, physiology and pathology after.

I have had no luck in finding out Bursary and Golden hello amounts for non degree routes?

    Any one able to help?
