Hi, this is the Daily Thread for Monday 23rd May. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.

When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.

Morning all
Off to work soon, last week before half term, but I shall be working for some of that as all the admissions paperwork needs to be produced.
I have had a productive weekend, making marmalade & cakes, altering a skirt to wear to work & working in the garden, we have a friend coming for tea tonight we are having another practice of our ceremony.
Have a good day everyone.
Hugs Hester

Morning HH & all who cross/follow.
Just thought I'd pop in & say hi as I have been MIA again. I'm still OS'ing as much as possible, but have been trying different meds & am a bit all over the place at the mo. Anyone got any tips for pacing myself as I can't get the hang of it.
DS has nearly finished school:eek: & is on study leave at the moment, DP has agency work again this week:j& DD is cat/house sitting for some friends so all is fairly quiet here.
Talking of cats we are getting a new member of the family on Weds:cool: She is a 5yr old black & white long hair & I can't wait, found her on the Preloved site, exchanged a few emails & her current owner came out to meet us & our other pets on Sat. He is taking her to have her boosters tomorrow & then she will be coming to us. He is moving for work reasons & is unhappy at having to rehome her so have said that we will email updates & photos of her progress.

Just typing this has exhausted me so think I will have another hour in bed with my book before getting up:D

Hugs, spoons & hi5's as required (inc pets)

    Have a good day,

    Jaxx

Morning Hester, Jaxx and all who follow,

Not a lot of sleep last night as a car alarm kept going off in the street, it is still going off every time a car drives past and it is really loud, the owner obviously hasn't noticed yet:mad:

No washing today as did loads yesterday to take advantage of the great drying weather, it is grey and dismal here today and I think it is going to rain which is great news for the vegetable plants.

OH has gone to work with a curry that was given to us by our neighbours, they are always popping round with food for us, it is really lovely! I have a salad to take and I have made sarnies for all the kids.

Tea tonight is chicken curry made from leftovers from yesterdays roast.

BB hope your cat is on the mend.

    Have a lovely day everyone.:)

    Morning everyone

Bright but very windy here again. DH up and off to work at stupid early o'clock.

Went away in the caravan at the weekend, very nice time, met with some friends we haven't seen for ages so was good to catch up. Had some lovely retail therapy on Saturday, even better when DH said I'll have the boys and you can shop on your own - result!!

Have a short week this week, as we're going away early hours of Friday morning - huge caravan rally - quite a bit to do, so weather permitting should be a good weekend. Boys on half term next week too.

Plants seem to be coming along ok, but wind is bashing anything not sheltered. Dinner tonight is fish, chips/jacket and baked beans - nice easy tea after working all day. Washing is out on the line, hoping it will still be there when I get in tonight!

Not much else to say really, keep safe and well everyone, hugs to those that need them.

    Morning Hester, Morning All,

Sunny and windy here this morning. Good for drying washing but don't have any at the mo.

Plan today today go food shopping as the cupboards are bare, also going to the gym and more woodchip stripping! Need to sort out the carcass from the chicken and make stock. The cats know they're in for a treat later. Really have to watch the little one or he would be running out of the door with a whole chicken! :D

Have a good day all and hugs to anyone who may need one.

    Morning Everyone

Jaxx - don't know the meds you are on but I know with mine took about 6-8 weeks to take effect, so hang in there.

I am feeling pretty pleased with myself this morning as yesterday managed to make reasonably good yorkshire puds (they usually turn out like heavy cakes). I have been practising for awhile but yesterday I got it! Also made a lovely apple layer cake which we had for dessert with custard. I did dinner for 10 and it seemed to go down really well.
Well back to reality today. Got to wrap and post 4 items for ebay and take OH suits to the cleaners before going to work, not looking forward to that.
I think it could be pasta for tea tonight although always open to change and especially when I read what everyone else is having!!

    Morning all!

Back to work today after a lovely long weekend. Didn't get up as early as i had planned OH insists on watching documentaries in bed and stays up till 2am and i can't settle with the sounds of it!

Got to make another loaf today as OH seems to be getting through them faster than i can bake 'em! Will make up 2 batches and let on prove over night in the fridge.

Got a mini quiche for lunch and some grapes. No idea what to do for dinner, got chicken that needs eating but don't know what to do with it!

Hugs to Daisy cat hope she is improving and also those who are in need

Morning all, WHAT a weekend. MIL hasn't got long left so I took the boys in the campervan to see her. Both had sickness and diahorrea (SP?) which made camping an absolute joy - NOT! so this morning they can't go to school - they need a 48hr window before they can go back. So have a mountain of washing to do - and then ironing. The wind has battered the garden so I need to clear and tidy up. Have to pick the dog up from kennels too. I'm absolutely shattered, so tea tonight will be something VERY easy xx
Me, OH, grown DS, (other DS left home) and Mum (coming up 80!). Considering foster parenting. Hints and tips on saving £ always well received. Xx

March 1st week £80 includes a new dog bed though £63 was food etc for the week.

    Morning All,

Cold and windy here, so glad I got all my washing done yesterday. Its moving night tonight for our youngest, who is 15 in a couple of weeks and moving into the boxroom, he is so tall I think this may have to be the last time otherwise we will have to knock a whole in the wall for his feet to go through:rotfl: he is a good lad though and doesn't mind as his big brother and GF need the double room.

Need to nip to the post office and charity shops today. I am on the look out for a new chopping board as well as mine has a big scorch mark on it.
All the jobs on our list are nearly done, I will just have to make DH another one:cool:

Tea tonight will be steak and potatoes and might have a bash at making a pepper sauce as I have some cream that needs using up.

Frustrated with my diet at the moment, seem to be struggling to get back on low GI. I may try slimming world as I have never really given it a proper go. Anyone had success with that?

Anyway brekkie time, hugs and spoons were needed.

    Happy Monday x
