thanks cheri
Am very excited
Like I say, the actual *leaving* is always pretty fraught round here... we have different conceptions of what 'let's leave in half an hour' actually means.... :rotfl: :rotfl: Still, I've got my fingers crossed for before 1pm - we're going to be on the road for 8 hours today even if we don't stop at all (which obviously we will!) so it's going to be a looooooooong day!

Oops, sorry, didn't manage a virtual postcard - swore off the internet for the whole fortnight and had a great time
Back now though (after being marooned in severe gales for an extra day - sorry Pippi!) 12 hours drive is NOT that much fun!
(but worth it :T :T :T
Got home to a letter from car insurance people telling me payment hadn't gone through   and if I didn't ring and pay by 25th they'd cancel my car insurance as of 9th August (which would have meant 2 whole weeks driving round without any)   seems to all be sorted now though - but
Emptied all newly acquired treasures into kitchen when I got back - entire new charity shop wardrobe, typewriter, polaroid camera, spanners, a computer mouse, biscuits, mugs, six million eggs, crumbs of scones.... :rotfl: :rotfl: it was like Christmas all over again! :rotfl: :rotfl:
Had the most MARVELLOUS time, Pippi and her family are UTTERLY LOVELY (which we knew anyway, of course, and I've met them before, but still!). Thank you soooooo much again lovely pippi for having us :j :j :j :j
Oh, and I've enjoyed not being on the internet so much that I've come back with a whole new set of Internet Rules   half an hour a day! (fortunately functional stuff like sorting car insurance and work doesn't count)
So - best quit waffling and have a very quick run round before I have to throw myself off!
Hope everyone is cheery :T :T :T0 -
Welcome back! Glad you had such a lovely time :T (though  to gales and car insurance!)
Good luck with your new internet rules! Ooh and.. how's the scales?Debt@16.12.09 £10,362.38, now debt free as of 29.02.2012."I cannot make my days longer so I strive to make them better."0 -
Fantastic! I thought you must've sworn off completely while you were away - I've just made the same limit in relation to mse, 30 mins a day, tho I'm already relaxing that to have another 15 mins at lunch, oops .... still.
You sound so energised! Wonderful2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -
Nice to see you back, but sad you're not here anymore.
I found a stripey sock, lurking under a beanbag, peedie thought it was great fun to attack it!
Have a great day - hope everything is OK and you're 'refreshed' from that long drive.
The soap is hard (YAY) -and I'm having MR cheeries gespacho today for lunch

:T :T for hard soap :T :T And for leftover gaspacho (or however you spell it :rotfl:)
Gosh that was a long day!  While Iw as lazing around on holidays I was wondering how on earth I managed to conduct normal daily activities - I still have no idea  Today's up at 6, train at 7, work 9-5, train, joined gym  and cycled home (10 miles in total) came as rather a shock
Oh, nd 30 mins of internet a day for me  and none before work or while at work   and I think I said none at weekends...  :rotfl: :rotfl:
best start being a bit less waffly! :rotfl:0 -
Had a number of daft holiday impulse buys - some more daft than others.
Two that particularly stand out are a typewriter, and a polaroid camera from Pippi's womble shop :rotfl: :rotfl: I love typewriters, and saw one for £15, which I just couldn't justify. Then the next day, there was one for £1 in the charity shop. I snapped it up, all pleased with myself
Turns out they were produced as a toy, so the ribbons aren't available, so, as one office supplier put it - 'apart from throwing the machine away and buying a second hand commercial one from Ebay or such like, there is not a lot that can be done to help you.' :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:
Polaroid films are around £16 for 10 photos - so I would have to be rather more sparing with the use of it than the 1000+ photos I took on holiday :rotfl: :rotfl:
I was in giddy holiday mode, clearly... :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:0
