Your light's still on, I know you can't hear me, la-la-la
I love Alys2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -
:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: KC :rotfl:
in my defence (kind of) I actually wasn't looking, just forgot to close the webpage, honest guv!
However, I'm still breaking my own rules by being here at all - but am feeling rather sorry for myself today.
Still, tea, and lunch of Orkney eggs and cheese cheered me up no end
Car's back from garage (5th time since beginning of August, bloody thing!) - £50. Getting rather bored of this...
Anyway - frugal activities for today - Mr Daffs got reduced bread on way home - only reduced to 75p mind you, none of your 10p bargains! Put some chick peas on to sprout on the windowsill - and discovered that my spare plastic sprouting lid thing fits on the sauerkraut jar, so that means I'll be able to have 2 on the go at the same time :T :T
Back up in the attic now, head down to work for a bit, then I'm off for a small wander to buy shampoo and a bit of fresh air :T :T0 -
Hi Cheery, its very nice to have you back
and it sounds like you had a fab time :T I watched SATC last night - it was the episode where Carrie goes for trapeze lessons - it made me think of you and i must say *from the safety of my sofa mind* :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl: that it looked fab and less scary than i imagined it to be
Grr! to car problems - i've actually got a berlingo too and shudder to think the amount i've spent keeping it going - because the repair bill is always cheaper than the buy a new car billHope they can fix it properly for you too as i know its also so inconvenient keep having to take the time to take it back again for something they should have done in the first place
And Grr! to someone stealing your mini compost bin
I've been list making and future planning today - its my birthday this month so this is the start of my 1 year planAll looking fairly positive but must admit even to me there's alot of stuff in there  Mind you some of it is just really basic like - cook / bake 1 new thing a month - cooking and baking are things i really enjoy doing which i find relaxing and hopefully scrummy results too :T so these sorts of things aren't too taxing but just a reminder to do the things i like
Also i'm just about to put the month 1 plan down for each category so the breakdown should look less scary than the 12 months one

Sounds like a fab plan DDFW! :T :T :T
So today on the MSE front.... (I'm trying to stick to MSE-type reporting here rather than getting sucked in to writing about absolutely everything that's going on - we'll see how long that lasts! :rotfl: :rotfl:)
Got a free cuppa at the WIThey were taking photos cos one of the producers is being featured in a homes/lifestyle magazine - the Christmas edition, so she was all bundled up in a winter coat and everything had tinsel and baubles festooned on it :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: Very authentic
Not many people buying mince pies
Bought a sheet for £2 to repair my saggy old ripped pillows with
Also bought large back of windfall and tiny apples for £1.05 from WI. Then went blackberry picking in the afternoon - and have currently got a HUGE pan of jam on the boilCut down last of rhubarb to make more jam - but Mr Daffs' friend expressed such enthusiasm about rhubarb crumble that he ended up taking most of it :rotfl: Remembered I had rhubarb in freezer from earlier in year, so made jam with that instead :T :T Trying to find enough jars to hold it all :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: Some will be in giant storage type jars
Also stuck yesterday's soup into the freezer :T :T :T :T (stupidly in a jar!! couldn't find anything else, and this was before I realised about the epic jam making extravaganza... suppose I could take it out again, but not sure what else to put it in - maybe should just eat it?! Oh dear, I'm not very good at this storecupboard malarkey, I think things are meant to stay in the storecupboard for more than a couple of hours before you eat them again! :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:)
Also picked and washed a big load of sage and rosemary from the garden, which is now hanging up in the stairwell to dry so I can crumble i into jars :T :T :T
So, on the whole, I'm not doing too badly today! :T :T :T Feeling like a veritable domestic goddess0 -
A veritable goddess!
Well done you - how very cheerful
By the way its your store cupboard if you want to put it in and take it out 10 minutes later, thats up to you and probably most efficient!
Have a great evening, I'm not here either, I'm tidying up. sunny room done, kitchen done, bathroom done, not got to bedroom yet - eek!Total debt 26/4/18 <£1925 we were getting there.
Total debt as of 28/4/19 £7867.38:eek:
minus 112.06 = £7755.32:money:
:money:Sleeves up folks.:money:0 -
That's lots of tidying pippi, well done you! :T :T Is mr stripes there now I take it? Say hello! :T
Well, all my jam is finally out of the pans! :T :T :T The delay has been finding jars.... :rotfl: :rotfl: This jam extravaganza wasn't planned, so I hadn't really saved any, our recycling is taken away every fortnight, and we've been on holiday for a fortnight too... Managed to cobble together a few by scraping out the very last of the lime marmalade into a bowl, eating the last of the peanut butter and one of the (three! oops!) jars of honey, using a jar pippi gave us pasta sauce in, got a couple of jars without lids, and had to put the last lot in a large mug :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:
So 3 jars of rhubarb, and 5 jars (plus a mug :rotfl: :rotfl:) of bramble and apple :T :T :T Not bad for an afternoon's light work! Should keep us going for a while (although we do eat a fair bit of jam when it's there, so possibly not very long! Surely even we can't get through more than a jar a week though?! I'll keep you posted...)
Didn't use a recipe, just bunged it all in. Probably means it won't set, but that's fine, it'll get eaten quickly here and won't be kept for the whole winter! Not entirely sure what distinguishes the rhubarb one from stewed rhubarb, but I'll be sticking it on me toast anyway0 -
Yay and he says hi too
What a busy bee you've been
For me jams a bit like baking, I love doing it, don't really eat it, but I keep making it - kids keep telling me to stopI don't listen
Have a lovely evening xxxTotal debt 26/4/18 <£1925 we were getting there.

I prattle about rather a lot, possibly too much ...

I do what the French did when I was au-pairing - have a few teaspoonfuls of jam (where does the "s" go in that word, I wonder) as a dessert .... if it works for them ...
2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -
teaspoonsful? I'd probably just say 'a few teaspoons of jam'
Good idea though. I think on that count I had about 4 desserts this evening
I love jam
Worked out if we'd bought it at the WI it would have cost us £18 (at £2 a jar - they're all obviously home made with local ingredients and more or less that much). We got 9 jars (including the mug) for £2.04 (£1.05 for the apples, 99p sugar, and rhubarb and backberries for free). Bargainiferous I say! :T :T It'll last us at least a couple of months, if not longer, plus a couple of jars to give away as presents :T :T :money:
Just been making a picnic blanket thing for friend who's just had babyVery pleased with myself today :rotfl: :rotfl: Have also booked myself into step class for 10.30 tomorrow morning  (but I did join the darn gym, can't keep putting it off :rotfl:), and tomorrow afternoon is paving laying... (MSE type I suppse cos we're doing it ourselves :rotfl: :rotfl:) Still, at least there's a jam mountain to keep us going
