You certainly can from a laptop. Not sure about from a tv. My work one is a Dell. Not bad but could be better. It didnt cost too much either. Some days there aren't any trumpets, just lots of dragons. It's pippi who's got the projector - hooked up to a laptop I believe to watch DVDs. It's fab
We could do it I suppose if we had a sheet/screen over one of the windows with the curtains shut...
I am indeed feeling pretty organised this year! :T :T Think it's because I thought I was going into hospital at the end of November, so would have no time, then when I didn't, it felt like I had loads of time :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: And because I saw family *before* Christmas, when usually I don't see them til after.
Anyway, so money wise...
On friday bought the last of the presents for less than £20 (that's nan, uncle, dad, plus chocs to go with 3 lots of vouchers, so not too bad!). Also bought milk, bread, and apples.
NSD yesterday as visiting family (unless you count £30 diesel, which I don't, because that comes from the diesel budget) Fingers crossed for another NSD today too - I don't *need* anything, got friends coming in an hour though, and it'd be nice to have some kind of Christmassy cake or something made - will investigate, I've got a couple of cooking apples that need using up, no butter (but I've got olive oil), got flour, sugar, maybe an egg or two, milk, plenty of cinnamon - maybe some kind of apple and cinammon scones or something?? Think I might have some apricots and sunflower seeds too.... Mmmmm....
Popping over to see another friend for Christmassy crafts this evening, so might make extra to take there too :T0 -
Yes, I use my projector too sometimes. In fact I might do that tonight and watch the Grinch!
What a lovely day you are having, chuck us one of those scones if there are any going spare.
Great work on the NSD and I wouldnt count the diesel either. Some days there aren't any trumpets, just lots of dragons. Courage doesn't always roar. Sometimes courage is the quiet voice at the end of the day saying, I will try again tomorrow -- Mary Anne Radmacher0 -
There's plenty Mrs Moo - although they turned out more like cakey biscuits than scones - always the thing when you don't use a recipe - you never know quite what to expect
Took some to friend's house, but she'd already made biscuits (which I brought home), and other friends turned up with a box full of home made biscotti, so doing well
Another NSD today too :T :T :T
Must have a looka t the house insurance tomorrow if I can bear itIt's been the same for about 18 years, so another year won't hurt if I don't get round to it... Must sort the buildings insurance though - apparently we live in a 1965 semi (er, we don't)... Not due til Jan though (and again, it's been like that for 18 years, so another year won't hurt...). Yawn.
Craft evening was *lovely*, just lovely :T :T0 -

It WILL hurt Cheery - it will hurt your patchwork savings
Step away from the biscuits and get onto moneysupermarket NOW!!!!!!!!! :rotfl:A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effortMortgage Balance = £0

Sadly, they can use stuff like that to avoid paying out ...
Cakey biscuits sound like my idea of heaven2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -
Pah, I didn't get round to sorting out the contents insurance
and now I see from Lula's diary that she's just got insurance for £75 a year - ours is over £300!  and buildings insurance on top!
I can see now why Mr Daffs has had his head in the sand about this kind of stuff for several decades - the thought of trying to sort it out is too depressing! :rotfl:
Still - one thing at a time, and think of the positives, right?? We're not in debt :T We've got the best deals on car insurance, breakdown cover, my mobile phone, and the gas and electric :T We've changed his name on his passport, his mobile, and the tv licence (nearly - pesky people :rotfl:). There's still name changes to do (banks, insurance, mortgage, house phone, etc), and still MSE checks to do (buildings/contents insurance, mortgage), but we're getting there. It's all got muddled up with the name change - don't want to ask them to do too many things at once, you know what they're like :rotfl: :rotfl: Not sure they could handle it if we transfered accounts in the middleo f a name change, and it's complicated by the fact that he won't talk to them on the phone, and most things are in his name, so they won't talk to me :rotfl: :rotfl: No wonder it's taken all year to do the few bits I've done!
Still, by the end of next year, everything will be in the right name, and we'll have the best deal on everything (and my name as a contact at least on everything too! :rotfl: :rotfl:) Not a bad target to aim for
Money wise... today I've spent:
50p x 2 on buses (probably my last student bus tickets!ISIC card runs out at the end of this month, and I only use bus for work, and am not travelling to work any more this year). I'll miss my 50p bus tickets (although Of course I'm grateful to have had them this long!
) It'll go up to £1.30 each way  I suspect I might get a lot less lazy bout not walking to the station in the morning
:rotfl:
£4.80 on baked potato and vanilla slice and yogurt for lunchQuite unnecessary as I did have ryvita, quark and salad (al I could muster when I got in from the pub last night!)
£1.59 biscuits for the office (necessary expenditure - we all stop for tea break every day, and all contribute biscuits for communal pot. I actually won't get to eat any of these - but I eat plenty overall)
Yesterday would have been a NSD apart from 2 x 50p bus tickets, but I had a LOVELY evening in the pub, Mr Daffs' band (or one of them) doing carols, then all kinds of people joining in and singing and playing, everywhere I turned there was someone else I knew, an utterly gorgeous night. Spent £4.31 on drinks and cashew nuts
At home now, I have no idea how I got here I'm so tired, last couple of hours is a complete blur! :rotfl: Sitting down with a cuppa and hoping to summon enough enthusiasm for a bath in a bit - not sure I can manage even that!0 -
Aw, Cheery, you sound exhausted! A cuppa is crucial at these times :coffee:
And you also sound like you've managed to do *masses* of admin over these last months - it takes forever, ten times as long as you think its going to.
And  your student card runs out! Botheration, and lots of rude words too - ah well, its given you a good long run.
Hope you get to sleep soon - I may have to pop off to bed myself soon ...2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -
Thanks KC :T
I have indeed done LOADS of admin this year - and extremely tedious it has been too. I'm not going to set tight deadlines - but if it all gets finished in 2012 I'll be very happy indeed
Working at home today, shouldn't be here!0 -
These things take time to unravel but you are getting there. Now take a few days off and relax. Some days there aren't any trumpets, just lots of dragons. Courage doesn't always roar. Sometimes courage is the quiet voice at the end of the day saying, I will try again tomorrow -- Mary Anne Radmacher0
