I'm with Squizz - blame the post2023: the year I get to buy a car0

Well since you give such good advice that's exactly what I shall do
thanks

Well, here's another week starting and I have no idea where the time is going at the minute!
Let's see if I can think of anything vaguely money-related to say... :rotfl: :rotfl:
I'm only going to York twice this week, so the extra £12 that I won't spend on the third day will near enough pay for my flute lesson on Friday :T
I'm going to return some underwear that I bought from the internet - doesn't fit sadly, which is a shame. Going to wait until I can get over to the shop in Leeds and try on first! So hopefully that'll be a refund, or at least a credit note I can spend in the shop.
Been spending far too much on, well, goodness knows what latelyNearly the end of the month though, and I don't think I've actally gone over my limit, so we'll see... Need to have a proper look at finances at the end of this month, everything's got a bit muddled in different accounts cos I've not been transfering things at the right time, pah!
Also want to open an ISA I can just transfer money into online, so it'll be with the same bank. Should be easy I reckon... Then I can keep the patchwork fund in there separately, and in my 'normal' savings account it'll be more holiday fund and extra bits of money from here and there, and maybe I'll be able to keep track of it a bit more! :j :j We'll see.
Also need to ring the hospital (not money related!) to see if they can shed any light on this operation date, and if they can avoid one particular day in November when we're putting on an event at work. Extremely tedious - not least because I'm not entirely sure who I need to ring... :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:
Tea first though0 -
Tea ... this whole forum runs on tea! I like the money-related posts, I'm *trying* to get back to that on my diary (not succeeding v well
).
Excellent idea about the online ISA - I'm actually wondering at the moment if I should put all this (hark at me! Its about £20) Amazon money into my pension.... they'd die of shock if I actually paid something in tho!2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -
:rotfl: :rotfl: go on, give them a shock kc

Bleurgh. Just rang the hospital to see if they had any idea when operation might be - appears I'm provisionally booked in for 17th November, so 3 weeks on Thursday   No idea when they were going to get round to telling me!
Problem is, we have a cheery work event to mark the end of our project on 24th Nov. Normally I wouldn't be at all bothered by missing anything work-relatedbut this is my first project, this is a special event thing, and I'd like to be there.
Physically it shouldn't be a problem, I should be mobile by then and could theoretically pop in for the event (and miss all the preparation:j
) But technically I believe I'll be signed off sick for 2 weeks, so officially won't be allowed on the premises...
Of course, I should have asked whether there was any provision to move it to a few days later... in fact, I might ring and ask now, because if there isn't, then I just won't be going and that's the end of it and I will of course deal with itIf it's possible to move it though i'll be annoyed with myself if I don't...
Bleurgh, I hate decisions and scary phone calls!0 -
Go for it, Cheery, thats a big deal, the first event. Hope they can sort it for you.2023: the year I get to buy a car0

Fingers crossed they can sort another date for you. Although, can you not go to the event even if you're not actually working?Debt@16.12.09 £10,362.38, now debt free as of 29.02.2012."I cannot make my days longer so I strive to make them better."0

I did think that Squizz, but I'm not sure what state I'll be in, and it's a 4 hour round trip of course (and there's often something with workplace insurance I believe that means if you're off sick, you're not insured if you're on the premises or something). And I don't want to encourage them to think I'm better when I'm not!
Anyway, I rang up and have now changed it to 30th NovemberSo I'll be able to go to our event, and also get to miss a meeting in London the following week
Rather worryingly, she did say they usually advise 4 weeks recovery for a total thyroidectomy - consultant said 2! I don't mind - means I may well be off for pretty much the whole of December
Not sure boss will be too impressed, although she won't be able to do anything about it... Date is still provisional I believe, until they actually get into the theatre - I think they say that just in case surgeon is off sick and I start demanding to have it done anyway! :rotfl:
So - 5 weeks on Wednesday  feels rather more real now I have a date  (provisional, of course) Best get on with some work so I don't leave a giant trail of destruction behind me...

I think they have to allow for those who don't recover so well, for whatever reason.
But at least now you have a date, rather than a 'vagueness' ( is that a real word?) and hopefully some better health at the end of it.Debts at LBM - Mortgages £128497 - non mortgage £27497 Debt now £[STRIKE]114150[/STRIKE][STRIKE]109032[/STRIKE] 64300 (mortgage) Credit cards left 0
