It did state quite clearly thought that it was one voucher per next account -I would imagine this is why Next have credited you with £30 (for the original voucher) then charged you £30.00 (for mis-use of the 2nd voucher).

Has anyone else had problems like this?

I ordered 2 vouchers which living social who debited 30 pounds out my bank account

I then bought 60 pounds worth of goods through next as the deal was £30 of spending power for £15. My thoughts were i would technically be getting goods at half price with my two vouchers

However next credited £30 back to my account but say i still have £30 outstanding.

If i paid 30 to living social and next say i owe 30 ihave paid £60 in total.

Why have they both charged me? I only expected to pay out £30.

Next keep saying the deal was 30 pounds off my order. If this is the case what was the point in the deal if ive had to pay out £60 anyway. Surely i could have ordered my 60 pounds worth of goods directly from next in the first place without all the bother with codes ( that didnt work at first) and deals.

The cost i would have spent directly with next if i had not used the code instead has just been split between two companies.

Am i right on this? has anyone else felt the advertising of this was a con.

I wouldnt have bothered if i felt i was getting the items full price.

very unhappy and i cant even take the damn goods back for a refund

It was in the terms and conditions - don't take this the wrong way but if you don't read them and make assumptions about the offer which are wrong, it's really not the companys fault.

For the exchange in store- I used to work at Next, and they should have done as the other SA said, and credited back to your account. The way that they have done it- exchanged as if they have no reciept- wont cause THEM a problem at all, but if you need to return it for whatever reason, could cause a bit of a hassle for you, as your invoice shows other details- your reciept might show a size 12, the top is a 10, the last few digits on the POS ticket will be different, and it won't be an easy return. Customer services would probably just change the details if you rang them and told them the size was wrong in the package though.

It probably wasn't whether a sales assistant was feeling nice, she might not have had the clearance on the till to put through exchanges with no reciept, and a supervisor would probably have said no as it wasn't supposed to be done!

I had a problem with next today I made an order for £36, using my £30 credit, which went thro fine, and I kept the stuff. I had also made a seperate order just after which I then returned. I found today that I had a 'account adjustment', of £14.51 as they thought the items were purchased in one order, thus taking 1/2 the £30 back.
I informed them it was a on a different order, but watch your accounts, as they are looking out for returns, and in my case, not just the stuff purchased with the voucher!!!

    I've been Money Tipped!
We returned stuff on my partner's account just after using the voucher and haven't had his statement yet so will keep an eye out for it. I used a voucher on my own account which went through ok and I kept the stuff but just got my statement through with no sign of the discount! Have called them and they said they can see the promotion so not sure why it hasn't applied to account and they will do it manually.

Well, I'm POed now. I bought £35 worth of things (£5 on my debit card), unfortunately, none of it fit. I went to the shop and enquired about exchanging (for a credit note as the styles didn't fit, it wasn't the sizing) and the pleasant sales assistant checked with her manager then informed me she would credit the money to my account and take the items. I told her I didn't have a credit account with next, and I used my debit card, but she said it was fine. Serves me right for not just walking out because that seemed really wrong to me, but she seemed so insistent, she said that they would attach a new voucher to my account. I gave her the items, she scanned them and said it was done and I left. Checked my account when I got home and couldn't even work out how to check if it was fixed, for some reason can't even see past orders? Seems a bit budget really, but I guess they don't care about non-credit account holders all that much.
Anyway, I email customer service, and they told me I have to contact livingsocial. I'm pretty sure this is wrong. I purchased the voucher from living social, and used it at next, so what has living social got to do with it now? Why should they give me my money back when the voucher is like next currency, it's next's problem. Not only this, but they have basically stolen my £5 which I paid on my debit card, because they have my items and won't give me my money back/store credit.
I've emailed customer service again but they really don't seem to know what they are talking about.

Edit: A response which may actually help, someone saying that as soon as they can confirm my items have been returned (not sure how long that will take, then I can place an order for the £35 and get that refunded, which is alright I suppose. I do feel under pressure now, though, to order again quickly so that I can get this sorted and get my money back so a credit note would have been better, but I guess that isn't possible because of the online/in store differences. At least someone is trying to help me now!

They can't really do it instore, as I said for the earlier lady- Next.com and Next stores are actually 2 different companies. The store are simply acting as couriers for yor items, holding them for you to collect , or returning them to the directory for you. Any items which are returned for a credit note instore are being handled against the rules, the directory customer services wouldn't do it if you rang them, and a manager wont authorise it, as they've got no comeback if there is a problem. Occasionally, a sales assistant may put it through to be 'nice', but if there is a problem for any reason, they would be acting without authorisation and could get in trouble.

The store couldn't refund your money, as they have absolutely none of your details. When a debit card order is put through on the internet, it sets up a 'dummy' account with your details. This account is just live for the one transaction, and is where your card details are stored for any refunds. The store have absolutely no access to this information, at all, the only info they get is the dummy account number to return goods to, on the corner of your invoice. The directory will deal with any refunds to your card, normally 10-14 days IIRC.

Can't tell you about the voucher, I'm afraid, whether they will give you the cash for that, as its not something Next have done before, to the best of my knowledge. Might be worth asking when its refunded if you can purchase a £30 gift card with the money- probably say you can't on the small print of the voucher, but the people in the orders past on the phone dont always notice that!

If you ever need to exchange something in a situation like this, my advice would be to take it into store minus the directory bags- the clear ones inside too- and pretend it was an unwanted gift with no reciept. There is a tiny mark on the POS codes which says the item was directory, you dont even get shown it when training to notice it, so most SA wont even know the difference. You'll get an exchange or refund card with no problem in most cases, if not just take it back home, pop it back in the directory bags with the invoice and return it to the directory then!

Sorry about the massive post, was just there for so long, got used to explaining this stuff as customer services tend to change there answer everytime you rang. This is the official line which we followed.

Not sure if Next's systems have changed since then but a couple of months ago I returned pj's which were christmas gifts instore and was told they were purchased on a next account as soon as the woman scanned them. I was then asked did I have a next account to which I replied no that they were bought as a gift for my son and unfortunately were the wrong size. She then had to call over a manager to authorise the refund card to me because they were purchased on a next account (my friend bought them and used £15 off code from next themselves which may have flagged up on the till I later found out by asking her lol).

allow 1-2 working days to the returned good to be shown in your credit account as they credit it back to your account when next directory receives the returned items.
