Hi all Colin Firth fans...this is my minor claim to fame. His father was my history lecturer when I was at college. Sadly I never got the chance to meet the man himself but someone else at college lodged with the family and met both Colin and Jonathan when they came back in the holidays!!

    Good afternoon everyone,

Pooky - your living room looks lovely, well worth the weeks of upheaval!!!! I think your suite is the same as my mums, so its a lovely one!!!!

Then, on the way home im picking up my friend, and she is coming over with a bottle of wine, so that will be lovely.

  • Afternoon everyone.

I had such an embarrassing time when I took the car for it's MOT earlier. My husband faithfully promised me that the wiring problem was now fixed and that I would have no trouble with it. Ten minutes until the MOT time and the donkey wouldn't start! I had my head under the bonnet doing goodness only knows what, cos I didn't. I fiddled with every wire going because if it didn't pass its MOT we were stuffed for work next week. Amazingly I got it started.

I dashed down the garage, trying to hide my oily hands, and then realised as I was getting out the car that I had forgotten my handbag. NO MONEY! They were well miffed with it being early closing and all but I begged them to let me go home and get it.
Finally back I thought I'd go and sit in the office, as I'd been promised, but was so embarrassed when they politely asked me to leave and wait in the mechanics area which was not what they said on the phone.
I sat for half and hour on a chair in a freezing forecourt, had left my book on the kitchen table when I was frantically looking for phone to call DH for help, so had nothing to look at other than my poor little car being scrutanized.
Needed a wee too but was too embarrassed to ask as I wasn't miss popular. :o

So glad it's over and at least the car passed. :T
Feel guilty grumping when I read some of the posts with people with real worries but sometimes you just need to get it out your system, don't you?

    Need coffee me thinks:rolleyes:

    Hi all :D

OH lurved his sweetie box that I made... would post a pic but there's not much left (and I filled 2 whole boxes!!!!!) :rotfl: Also made him 52 mystery vouchers (folded in a jar so he can't read what they are) and he's got to pick 1 a week for the next year... I've got to take him bowling this week!! The idea behind it is that we very rarely spend any time together, and when we do we don't really do anything, so I thought this'd be a good idea :D seems to have gone down well.

Went to Ikea this afternoon... Bought my dining table and chairs :D bought 2 moderately priced chairs and 2 fold-away ones as the table will be against the wall most of the time so no need to splash out on things that would just be in the way!! Also bought a sofa cover (last time we went they only had 1, so have been living with 1 uncovered since we moved in!!), and lampshades for the other rooms in the flat (only had 1 in the living room, and spotlights in bathroom)... so when OH gets all the furniture assembled whilst I'm at work tomorrow, the flat will be finished :D (and we've only lived here since 1st July :rotfl: )

Xmas tree (fake) is up, and will be decorated tomorrow evening :xmastree: Will also wrap lights around the Juliette balcony to make it look pretty :snow_laug

Off to get ready for meal out now... they have an offer on where it's £14.99 each for 2 courses and if there's 6 of you, you get a free bottle of champagne :D BIL dropped out earlier, so we have invited OHs grandpa... first time I've seen him since his wife died in September as I was in Spain when the funeral happened... He's not coping too well and doesn't like leaving the house unattended in case of burglars, so hope it all goes OK tonight and he doesn't start an arguement...

    Enjoy your evenings xxx

    Evening everyone :hello:

:j :j THE book has arrived :j :j I don't think that DH will get much conversation from me tonight! :D

I've had a lovely day. I met a fellow out-of-work teacher at a country park, at a suitable half way point between us. It was lovely as I'd never have ventured there by myself. Loads of different birds that we were trying to work out what breed was what from our limited knowledge. There was a gorgeous little tea room there, but we walked to a neighbouring village and had a (very cheap) pub lunch.

I'd listed a few things on Ebay yesterday, but as yet nothing is selling. Only one of the items has a watcher. Ah well, if they don't sell, then I don't pay any fees and I'll try to get rid of them another time.

Supper tonight will be ostrich burgers with potatoes and either peas or baked beans. I'll give DH the option :D Aren't I kind? :D

Better go for now. I'm expecting the Avon lady round to give me the last of the Christmas presents - a Thomas the Tank Engine hat and scarf set for our godson!
