Yesterday I was at a loose end due to that fact that there were no computers available to staff, and I spoke to the head. I mentioned my pregnancy, and the dates, and the fact that I wanted to go part time after returning from mat leave. He seemed really positive, and although he obviously couldn't commit, he sid that it shouldn't be a problem.
OH was not happy! But I wanted to ask the question to stop me wondering - and I know of 4 futher people who are going to request part time, so I wanted to put accross my case really positively, before they do, so that I wasn't asking knowing he'd be thinking 'not another one!'. Anyway its not guaranteed, but I feel that what I want is a little bit closer - I hate being here without ds, and another little one to miss is just going to break my heart.
Things have been fine all week really, but I am just in the wrong place, and want to be at home with ds - I guess its my hormones playing up!
Anyway next week is half term, so I can really enjoy time with oh and ds.
We are visiting mil in scotland, who is a streamstress. I am going to ask her to finish off some curtains for the back bedroom for me, and i am hoping if I take a maternity dress that I love, she will be able to make a pattern from it, and make me up a couple of extra maternity dresses!
Today and tomorrow I need to:
1. finish all work, leave everything tidy and ready for return from holidays,
2. pack for scotland, including sewing tasks.
3. buy a top up shop and scan it in.
4. sort out my tutoring and appointments for next week15/5/12 Paid off Mortgage 1 (£220k) Bought Dream House:www: Dec 13 - Mortage 2 -£116,508. 15/7/18 Mortgage Free Again :j

Hope you do get P/T. Reducing hours isn't an issue for nurses, managers seem to be happy when people reduce them but I'm guessing the same isn't true for teachers.

Good for you on mentioning it to your boss now- I think you're right that if the other 4 asked before you it might be seen as 'on no not another one' whereas he will remember that you asked first and it will go in your favour.
Hope you have a lovely relaxing time next week.
Manybe you should get Phil and Kirsty on the case to find your perfect next home?! (although the others on this board seem to be doing a pretty good job so far!) xYesterday is today's memories, tomorrow is today's dreams

Earthie, my experience of failing to get PT from a psycho head who is the subject of numerous employment tribunals and at least one constructive dismissal case is... show them what's in it for them - that's all you can do. xxxPlease do not confuse me with other gratefulsforhelp. x0

Also if and when you apply for PT let me know if you'd like to see a copy of my request letter- I spent a long time making it as persuasive as possible and had help from the union with it and I'm happy to share it with you if you like. xYesterday is today's memories, tomorrow is today's dreams

Morning all,
Summerday I have pm ed you about the pt letter - you are so kind to offer!!
I have been missing from the boards for a week. We had a lovely holiday at MILs in scotland. Earthie didn't settle to sleep very well there, which left me a little exhausted, but we had some loevely walks, and oh and I managed a romantic meal out (£44 put throught the business as oh was working up there), which was great.
Since I have come back I have been suffering with morning sickness pretty much all of the time, but today I feel fine - fingers crossed I am over it (wishful thinking!) I think I have caught up on sleep, and I am trying to eat fresh fruit and veg, not much else I can do really.
Our finances seem dire at the moment. None of our monthly bills can be reduced, and its coming in at £925, not including spending on food and petrol. We used to get by on £1000 per month for everything, but that just isn't possible in todays climate. I need to set budgets for myself on everything I can improve on.
1. Food £150 / month - roughly £35 per week, that sounds achievable.
2. Petrol £100/ month - try all of the tricks to reduce petrol consumption.
3. Wine consumption will be decreased due to me not drinking!
4. Entertainment - stick to once per month meal out with oh - we have been doing a lot more than that of late!
Today I am tutoring for 1 hour, and then pottering and cleaning.
I planted 2 apple trees yesterday, and my potato bags arrived (bought with shop and scan voucher). I hope to have more veg down the side of the garden, and potatos in bags on the patio, and smaller dwarf tomato plants in the mini greenhouse - best use of space I think, and it should reduce our food bills.15/5/12 Paid off Mortgage 1 (£220k) Bought Dream House:www: Dec 13 - Mortage 2 -£116,508. 15/7/18 Mortgage Free Again :j

I'm in a department of 9 and 3 are part time. I have my fingers and toes firmly crossed that I'll be able to go back part time. But I'm not ready to look into it yet.
Glad you are still plodding on Earthie...did you get MS last time?Reduction in daily mortgage interest since October 23 (new mortgage) - £2.36 July 25

Hey earthgirl
Sounds like a lovely holiday
(apart from being tired) and hope the morning sickness passes soon ...
Itotally hear you on how much things have gone up , we average £150 on food p/m and really have to think about it! Sometimes I find it too much effort to be obsessing about all the time! other times do really well and manage to use stuff up and really cut down!
Good luck with the p/t request I hope your head goes for it!0 -

A bit yes, but I think it was a lot less noticable, now with a toddler in tow I can't just go to bed and relax

Oh I find it MUCH worse when I don't keep myself busy. I tried going for a lie down with it and everytime I've been sick. I can only nap (tiredness has been the worst thing for me so far) if I don't feel sick. Pregnancy is a funny thing.Reduction in daily mortgage interest since October 23 (new mortgage) - £2.36 July 25
