It feels like so long since I have posted! I was here in spirit though, just very busy, and a tiny bit ill with a cold which hasn't helped.

Last week was manic, without oh to help me out, and a paents evening to do, ds just did not see enough of me, and the house just didn't get sorted out. It has really confirmed to me how much I want to go part time.

My freind visited at the weekend, but the weather was really miserable, and I felt rotten - I am so tired with pregnancy anyway, and I also have a cold. Ds seems to always be disturbed at night time now too. I am hoping its just teething and not a nasty habit thats forming!

Anyway we went to soft play (£2) and then I cooked all the meals from scratch, so it was a cheap weekend. She also looked after ds whilst I did some tutoring, so that was good.

At work we are facing redunancies properly again. Its the worst case senario really, the process will probably start after i return from mat leave (so no escaping it!) and will involve our schoolo being amalgamated with another closer one, and the closer one is horrendous, not only might I nothave a job, but the closer school will become the one in our catchement area for ds, so we will have to move. I had secretly hoped they would just close it - its 35% a-c!!

I have tried to reduce my sky bill, no luck, so I am on the war path about leaving again, if only I could get oh to agree!

  • Redundancy is great if you want it.... But not when you don't have a choice. Fingers crossed that it all works out whatever happens.

    All the best,

Thaks guys. I have come round to your way of thinking!!!

It could actually work out amazingly well (except for the ds catchment area thing) as I could get a nice package of redundancy and actually just get more time at home with ds and earthlet 2, before hopefully ending up with a nicer job when the jobs market picks up again!!

I am so glad I found this site and met all of you lovely likeminded people (8 years ago I think) as it has really spured me on and I am in such a good position now.

Working makes me inefficient - I don't have the time to cook stuff from scratch and really focus on what we spend our money on, plus paying for two little ones in nursery will not be cheap!

I have done some calculations on the sky thing, and I have worked out that it is slightly cheaper to stay with sky, until the freeview hd recorder boxes reduce in price. I am going to complain though and see if I can get some discount in a few months.

Right I must get on with a little bit of work!!

Glad this site gives you a bit of what you need :), and don't forget you're a great inspiration to us too.

Redundancy does sound like a good opportunity, and you are in a fantastic financial position whichever way it goes.

I take it that is secondary school catchments you're talking - so you have several years before you would even need to consider moving - and it could improve, or you might find another school to get ds into. You'll be in your mansion by then anyway ;).

:rotfl: Lovely interior what a good price! We were going to go for something with a bit of a view though, or nice coutryside surroundings, could you manage that too?

With the equity in our house, we should have about £500,000 - £600,000 at the end of our mamouth savings journey, but to be honest, we will probably not save as much as anticipated as I plan to go part time.
