Well done! My wife would like to see some Uruguay games but until the draw is made we don't know which city/cities they will be playing in. We ended up just asking for tickets to the final but it looks like we haven't even got those.

I think I read somewhere they said that they were aiming for 60% of card debits to be made by 1st of June. So still plenty of time. :)

Oh apparrently they are now aiming for them all to be done by then. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-13574001

We applied for 20 events and got one (2 x £50 tix). Have no idea what for as we applied for lots of tickets in the same price band and across lots of events (athletics, football, rowing, swimming, cycling). What's really surprising is that we applied for lots of cheap qualifier type things and morning events and none of those seem to have come through. Ho hum... Still, we're going to the Olympics :j:j:j

Not too surpising, that's what we did too, and probably lots of others who were looking to go cheaply. ;)

The cheaper tickets could actually be the ones most oversubscribed.

It's not looking good at the moment for us :( however we have decided that if we aren't successful we'll put the money towards a new bigger TV instead!!

The crazy thing is, if it wasn't a ballot and you could buy a ticket by normal means, we would probably have gone for more expensive ones, but only for a couple of events. The way it has been done has forced our hand. For all the talk of percentage likelihoods, the fact is nobody wants to go over their card limit. Still happy to have something though, whatever it is!

ETA: have you had any money taken yet Temrael?

Yeah I agree entirely, it's a bit of an odd situation where you are left gambling on how many tickets you think you won't get to try and work out how many to go for.

It does look properly random, I've read that some people have ended up with like 5% of the events they applied for and others seem to have got 80% (even those that applied for loads and loads of events).

I'm not sure how it could have been done better though tbh. No system to try and cope with this sort of demand could be perfect.

Nope, I've not had any debits show up on my Egg card yet (anyone else?) but they do seem a little slow to show transactions at the best of times and it's not yet the 31st so I've not given up all hope yet. We applied for some fairly niche events (sabre fencing, rhythm gymnastics) so maybe that will help our odds.

Would be disappointing to get nowt but some events are sort of open anyway (like the marathon or the sailing) and you could spectate without paying / still feel a little bit involved. :o

agreed, people seem to have over subscribed just to get something and that doesn't seem to have been very fair at all. I think that if you applied for say 5 or more events you should be at least given one. It's so unfair that some will get all and some nothing!

Looks like my brother has got £320 worth out of the £1700 he applied for. Nothing definite for me yet but I have one pending payment which could be a pair of £30 tickets. This would either be a basketball qualifier or an early round in the tennis. It would also mean that I'd missed out on the handball qualifiers which I thought would be a dead cert given the sport's UK profile. Like most others it would also mean nothing for athletics, track cycling or swimming.

looks like i've got my 2 tickets for the Hampden preliminaries - or atleast that's what i believe the mysterious as yet un-named debit on my account is, apparently there's going to be a further "sale" of tickets but i agree, the whole system is a bit rubbish to be honest, i concur that they had to regulate it, but the whole "we'll take the money between X and Y THEN tell you what you've got" is a joke. There has to have been a better system for it.
