Does anyone know whether the 1 million tickets up for sale post December 2011 covers all events including athletics ?0

My understanding is that from December its whatever tickets have become available via;
a) Situations where someone wasn't able to pay for the ticket(s) they'd bought
b) Anything left over after next week's second round of clean-up sales
c) Any tickets that Olympic sponsors, LOCOG or the press give back
The mysterious "contingency" and "fitting out of venues" references suggests that for the pre-built arenas, they might not have sold all of the tickets they could have at this stage.
So, yes...potentially that includes athletics. But as its one of the more popular events, there are less likely to be any returns or leftovers. I sincerely doubt there'll be any random spares for the 100m gold medal final.
mellancholy - on the same note, my guess is they'll do something similar to this round, so people who've already applied and not received any tickets will get a headstart on applying for the final wave of tickets in December, but it will ultimately be opened up to everyone and anyone.
There'll also be the re-sale site, once that's up and running next year.

We got football quarter final but not handball and our application was in by 6.24 a.m. Disappointed for not getting handball but glad we got football.0

so that's any chance of athletics or cycling gone for me! i probably would have waited and chanced it for then instead, had i known (but being psychic appears to have been the most important skill needed to get tickets.... not good for me!!)mellancholy - on the same note, my guess is they'll do something similar to this round, so people who've already applied and not received any tickets will get a headstart on applying for the final wave of tickets in December, but it will ultimately be opened up to everyone and anyone.:happyhear0 -
No tickets in the second ballot either
. Only applied for athletics though so that probably shot us in the foot before we started. Good to hear that 90% of applicants got something this time round. Just a bit gutted I'm one of only 15,000 who didn't.
December release it is then!0 -

Some of the preliminaries for athletics may become available, but I'd be surprised if any 'good' tickets do for athletics or cycling unless its via official resale, and they're likely to go like hot cakes just like they have so far.
You could still get to see the road cycling, marathon, etc. for free, if you're willing/able to get to the route early (as its likely to be jam packed), as there are no tickets for events that are conducted in public places.0
