Olympic tickets

When I read about the guy being awarded £11,000 worth of tickets it made my blood boil. No one person needs that many tickets- the system is un-fair. So much for inspiring the youth of tomorrow LOCOG...hang your head in shame.
Absolutely. What's wrong with trying to give as many people as possible ONE set of tickets before going on to allocate second sets etc. Not exactly rocket science, is it? :mad:If you lend someone a tenner and never see them again, it was probably worth it.0 -
Just heard the chap on the tv who has won £11000 worth of tickets saying that he couldn't believe that more people hadn't been like him and bid for more tickets than they wanted - in his case £36000 worth.
We bid for the most that we could afford, and didn't get anything so going to see what happens in the next round.0 -
Nothing for us as well. My daughter was desperate to see the gymnastics. Will have to settle for the free events such as the marathon and cycling road race now.0

As he admitted earlier though, if he has 'won' four £2012 opening ceremony tickets (which seems likely) it will be one expensive night out, and he has probably got just one or two other events as he bid up to the maximum prices on all his tickets. Got to admire his determination.:T:j :TMFiT-T2 No.120|Challenge started 12.12.09|MFD 12.12.12 :j:T:j0

I bid for just over £2,000 worth of tickets and my account has been debited with £311. I can't work out which events this covers, due to the diff price bands I applied for.
Anyone know when they will tell me which events, and by e-mail or post ?0 -
bank account confirmed today i got my footie tickets for Hampden, i really feel for the people who didn't get tickets though, especially when you see people getting thousands worth of tickets - granted there will be events massively more popular than others, but still shocking. Still for me it's part one of a dream which looks unrealistic on paper, i've always wanted to go to see an Olympics, Winter Olympics, World Cup & European Championship in person, granted it's not exactly "marquee" Olympic event (yay, football prelims!) but still something to remember.Retired member - fed up with the general tone of the place.0

Don't look like that I haven't got any tickets even though I applied for several events.
Very disappointed and disgusted with the way the London 2012 Olympics have mis-managed the ticket allocation. I thought that one of their premises was to ensure the Olympics are seen by as many different people as possible.
I don't know why the London Olympics didn't invoke a process that ensured that NOBODY could get tickets for more than one event for the initial ballots to allocate tickets. The following process would have enabled this to happen :
1. People prioritise the events they want to watch in their application form.
2. For each over-subscribed event, London Olympics then invoke a ballot, which lists everyone from first-to-last. For example, for the !00m final, the ballot would prioritise every applicant from number one to last on the ballot; i.e number 1,000,000. This would be completed for every single sporting event that was over-subscribed.
3. London Olypics would then look at each individual's application to ascertain the priority order of the sporting events that the person wanted to watch. As soon as a ballot confirmed that a ticket had been allocated for individual's priority sport, the individual's name would then be removed from all other ballots and consequently other people then moved up the list in those ballots.
4. If someone does not receive a ticket via the above, they would then be given priority in subsequent ticket sales, ballots, etc.
5. As soon as the above has completed, then open up the ballots for applicants to get multiple sporting tickets.
I have worked in IT for over 24 years and I know that the above is not difficult to implement.
The whole ticketing application process is a wonderland for ticketing touts; especially as they can source their supply from multiple websites and pseudo unsernames. I saw on BBC yesterday evening that a legit German website was still offering tickets for sale for the 200m final.
It is also disappointing to see that 50% of tickets are going to sponsors for some of the sports.
I'm afraid that it looks that the London Olympics is continuing very much like their performance at the closing ceremony in Beijing with the London bus, which I found embarassing and also got widespread ridicule.
Good luck and congrats to those that have been successful with tickets.:)Have a beer! :beer:0 -

If you think the events are 'boaring' why did you go for them? Why didn't you leave them for people that desperately want those 'boaring' events?
I'd be really upset if I knew that people that had the tickets I really wanted thought they were a poor substitute. I'd didn't get any for my events
