As an athletics coach outside work I have given many hours free of charge to coach athletes from young teenagers to seniors. I have paid for my own petrol to support those athletes when they compete, often paying to go in to those competitions too, despite having a full coaching pass and being a National level Coach. I have also paid for myself to go abroad to learn more about the event I coach.

I didnt want free tickets as a thank you - all I wanted was the opportunity to buy tickets at the normal price, in front of the corporates who buy tickets for their customers who then spend the whole time in the hospitality tent drinking without seeing any athletics at all. I've seen it - I got given some tickets a couple of years ago, our section of the stand was empty, they were all quaffing the wine and guzzing the food in the tent, Let them do that if they wish, but why not let the real athletics fans have the tickets to watch?

I have been allocated less 10% of the tickets I requested - and I'm actually fairly sure that those aren't athletics tickets. I didnt go for hundreds of tickets, only 2 x 2 nights of athletics, and 2 x 2 of another sport (which I think I have got).

I think that, rather than encouraging people to come into the sport, the attitudes taken will push people away. I am certainly rethinking what i do in my spare time - perhaps do something where I am a little more appreciated for all the time and money I put into it, with not even a thank you.

£76 out of a possible £2000 or 2 tickets out of a possible 38 in my case. Looks like basketball qualifiers or centre court tennis so I'm fairly happy with what I've got but I'd still like to see more events and make a day or two of it. Going to look at the test events and Paralympics so that I can try to see some track cycling and the athletics stadium.

When I started this post I was full of anticipation thinking that we would probably get most of the tickets as we hadn't gone for the finals.

Nothing last night but £257 this morning, very disappointed less than 1/8th of what we ordered.

Think its likely to be 4x Handball, 4xBasketball, 2x Football(Coventry) and 1x basketball quarter finals. No Athletics, cycling, swimming or tennis, the things we really wanted to see. If I had a choice would have wanted just one visit to the Athletics instead of what we've got.

What will be difficult is explaining to my children the empty corporate seats when we having to watch it on the TV.

Congratulations to all the people who got tickets for events that they really wanted to see.

Will start to enter as many competitions as possible, think there is one on persil as the moment.

I am really peeved. Still nothing for me or anyone I know who applied for child priced tickets. This whole thing was a farce and I want my council tax money back (stamps foot in rage)!

    But seriously, I do!!!!

I applied for 6 tickets for the athletics and got them- these included 3 child priced tickets. Incidentally, these were the only ones I applied for(costing £103 in total) and am so excited to have got them. I do realise how lucky it was though!

does anyone know how much the booking fee is. I applied for 3 lots of tickets. 2 of the events we applied for a ticket with our daughter. = £44 and one event was on our own £40. debit card charged £46, so which one is it. The one with our daughter with a £2 fee, or the one without her with a £6 fee ?

Why apply for tickets for events that you didn't really want to see? I'm a bit confused! :S.

Not looking good for me this morning - congrats to all that got something...try not to be be too disappointed. Something is (much) better than nothing!

well at least you've got something!

We seem to have nothing - not even the early rounds of the handball we hoped we'd get if nothing else!
