    27 year old tee shirt?

    And made of Polyester!

Just get him a new one!

PS I think red wine will just come out of Poyester fairly well with or without a stain remover, especially if it is a dry red or is a bit vinegary. Sweeter reds will cause problems because the sugar will 'fix' the stain. Don't use salt, because that might fix the stain as well.

  • Polyester & cotton I think. Its an England shirt that was his fathers before him and he's had it since he was a very small boy - it means alot to him & part from the wine its in amazing condition! Who I am to conplain about his frugality??? :D

    Thank you!

I'd try soaking it in cold water and then rubbing the stain with soap, then leaving to soak again....repeat a couple of times.
If it's on just the white part, and the stain is still noticeable, then try dipping just that part in very diluted bleach and then rinsing well.

Take it slowly and the stain should go.

    Hi determined new ms,

I would do as whatatwit suggests, but if that fails then this thread may help:

    Red wine stain help!

Please come back and tell us if you managed to shift it. I'll add your thread to the existing one later to keep the ideas together.

..... spilt a glass of red wine on an expensive white tablecloth. Washed it at 60 degrees with no joy. Dare I go higher! Any magical tips out there?

A great idea is face soap, rub into the effected area and see how it goes.

I always thought higher temperatures sealed in stains so I wouldn't go any higher. If anything I would go lower and use vanish if the soap doesn't work.

    Good Luck

    Hi johnny,

As your thread has fallen down the page I've added it to our main thread on red wine stains to see if you can get more ideas.
