Red wine stain help!

For red wine stains the kitchen shop Lakeland Limited does a product called Wine Away, which is apparently made from orange rind. It works amazingly well if you apply it to the stain whilst it is still fresh. My OH spilled some red wine on our cream cotton Ikea chair and the stain came out completely when I used the product followed by a good spongeing with a drop of carpet shampoo.0

I use plain old milk on red wine stains. Not sure if it would work as they're old stains now, but it works on freshly spilt wine. I just soak the top or whatever in a little milk. sometimes ill leave it over night and no sign of any wine by the morning!
The only problem is that you'll have to wash them a few times after to get rid of the milk smell!!What matters most is how well you walk through the fire0 -

try milton and if that doesnt work then try to get some biotex, and soak in very very hot water overnight. then a boil wash in bio powder.0

I would soak in a very strong, hot solution of biological washing powder. It has worked for me in the past.
Best of luck!!!

Keep washing and in April, when the sun shines it will bleach the bug gery out of them. I learnt this here. You might have to put up with stains for a while, but come spring and you get them on the line, they will be fine.
We are a family of 4 and I only have white towels & bedlinen. It's fine after a good old sun bleach. Even with the mud and shi te that the kids manage to put on it.
I wouldn't recommend putting bleach anywhere near anything you want to keep as it perishes and decomposes. So your towels could end up with patches.0 -
We have a white throw on one of our sofas with a massive wine stain on it. Washed it twice but it's still pretty noticeable. Is there any method of getting rid of it? Would bleach be an option?0

If the item has been laundered in hot water you might have fixed the stain by now. Has it turned a nice blue colour?
In the first instance I would try using a paste made from baking soda and cold water, rub that into the stain and leave it for 20 minutes. Then launder as usual. If that doesn't work I'd try a weak chlorine bleach solution as a last resort but that's more likely to work on a 100% cotton fabric than a synthetic one.0 -
Yeah, blue-ish. Thanks for your suggestions. I'll give them a go and let you know how I get on.0
