No. No payment = No item.

You need to calm down and understand that mistakes can be made. For example, in 2 unique transactions, I was recently sent the wrong item in each of them. There's no point getting mad about it, though, and calm co-operation with the seller can virtually always sort the matter.

But they have paid, they don't have access to their funds because of your mistake.

Call Paypal and ask them why the payment isn't showing up.

I presume it is most likely because the buyer attempted to pay to a Paypal account that didn't exists. So they have probably either returned the payment, or put it on hold until you contact them.

Should I just wait to see if this can be resolved over the eBay dispute before doing that?

No, because you made a mistake, so you will probably lose the dispute. Call Paypal immediately.

I must say that I am shocked at how rude some people have been in this thread. Yes the OP made a mistake, and yes they need to take far more care over their listings on ebay. But some of the posts on here have been outright offensive. And I'm shocked to see that a post by a forum team member has also overstepped the mark in this way.

Have they opened a Paypal dispute or an ebay one? Maybe if you put in the dispute that you entered the wrong email address & see if the sender can cancel the funds, I think that after a certain length of time if it's unclaimed it automatically goes back to the sender.

But I am going to win the dispute by default, as the user is inactive and won't reply to the dispute. Should I still call..?

Indeed. I've been in dialogue with MSE Martin for a while about the level of bullying on the MSE forums as a whole, you can discuss it in this thread here. In the meantime, all we can do is report and hope the mods do their job, although they seem to think bullying is tolerable.

If the money was not claimed within 30 days it will have been returned to the buyer.

You can't guarantee that you will win as there is clear evidence that they have attempted to pay. So you could be the one with a mark against you for non delivery.

    So call Paypal now.

I would be a bit miffed if I was waiting 30 days for my money and without my item because a seller didn't bother to proof read his auction.

Maybe a read round this would help in future http://www.dummies.com/how-to/content/sending-a-paypal-invoice.html or http://www.dummies.com/how-to/content/how-to-create-a-paypal-button-on-your-web-site.html

Hm, I called PayPal, told the guy the whole story. He seemed like a knowledgeable, helpful guy and said that I should continue with the eBay dispute.

To be honest, the dispute automatically wins in my favour if the buyer doesn't reply to it within a day, which I'm sure she won't.
