Rejecting a Brand New Car - unfit for purpose

I could ask all of the knockers on here the same question! Read my previous!
Your reply doesn't make sense.
Which of your 'previous' posts are you referring to?
I asked you why you were continuing this with Renault.
Not the 'knockers' as you refer to them - as far as I can see they are just questioning the veracity of what you say happened (I do not intend to voice my opinion on that - for that you can read my previous!) or questioning whether your complaints about the car are valid (and I'm not going to voice my opinion on that either as I haven't driven it).
I'm curious (not to mention bewildered) why you don't just walk away now.
Why are you collecting emails from Renault?
Why don't you just move on?0 -

Previous as in the one before yours - 99. Principles!0 -
Yes I got my money back but others might not be so lucky. Had we not gone to Kent when we did, our next trip which is to Spain would have been the first long journey and that would have been awful with roof up or down. So a good job we found out when we did or it could have been a different story and we certainly wouldn't have got the Tigra back. My "beef" as you call it is with Renault, who need to look at it seriously and admit that maybe they didn't get it completely right. As a friend commented yesterday - that's what you get when you lop the roof off a Twingo! I really don't see why nobody gets that - it's called standing on principles.
I actually don't get it.
Things have moved on (even though you apparently haven't ), you have raised the issue with Renault and the dealership you bought from have acknowledged there may be a problem with the car.
There will be demonstration models in numerous showrooms so individuals can do a test drive and make a valid decision (their decision) whether the car is suitable for them.
I still just can't see why you're so intent in flogging this to death.
You really should get out more. :rotfl:0 -

If other people would let it drop then I would be able to - you are obviously not getting out enough either as you are always posting on here! And if you don't get it there is no point in anyone trying to explain further so I suggest you stop asking the same old questions.0 -

You are misunderstanding me!
I'm not talking about letting it drop on here - you can debate with Flyboy152, Equaliser123 & redped all day, every day for the next 10 years if you wish.
I'm talking about this:My problem is with Renault UK - I am also accumulating a lot of emails from them, as this is a very real problem - something some people seem unable to get to grips with and are more intent on personal attacks!
I can't see that you have a problem with Renault UK (I'm not disputing that you used to have a problem with Renault UK) .
Again:
You've raised what you see as an issue with the car with the manufacturer.
You've raised what you see as an issue with the car with the dealership - who are going to insist on an extensive test drive for any future potential buyers.
You've written a review of the car for any potential buyers to read.
You've got your money back.
You've got a car that you really like back.
I just can't understand why that isn't the end of it (for you) - and don't spout tosh about 'principles'.0 -
- For agreements signed away from the creditor’s normal business premises – i.e. at your home, place of work or at an exhibition stand
- For agreements made at a distance (online, by phone or by post)
The law here has changed - see my post above. There are now two different rights, to cancel and to withdraw. Each has different effects and applies in different cases.
Fly - This change is fairly significant and a tad complex, so I can well believe a dealer would !!!! it up. I've never been impressed with their grasp of consumer law in other cases.
Use of something doesn't remove your rights under the DSRs. There is an argument that in some cases the use of something might void rights under the contracts concluded away...etc regs.0 -

There have been demonstrators in dealerships since last August and September. The greater danger, for most of us, lies not in setting our aim too high and falling short; but in setting our aim too low and achieving our mark0 -

Not in this area there haven't - again call them up and find out for yourself before doubting others! There was only a showroom model and NO demonstrator available. If there had been of course we would have taken it out. Now find something else to doubt!!!0 -

Seeing as you have a history of buying cars without test driving first, I doubt that. The greater danger, for most of us, lies not in setting our aim too high and falling short; but in setting our aim too low and achieving our mark0 -

Fair comment about the dealer not have a car in their particular showroom but did he offer to try to get one for you to test drive?
Did you ask him if he could do that?
If the dealer couldn't/wouldn't get a car for you to test drive, did you ring around other dealers to see if they had a car that you could test drive?
Our local Toyota dealer didn't have the car we were considering buying but they offered to get one, didn't seem to find it a pain for them or something out of the ordinary?
I'd have expected on a £17K potential purchase, they'd have been pretty keen to accommodate you.
Unless, of course, you'd made it patently obvious that you loved the car and he could see that a sale was a nailed-on certainty anyway.0
