H&M code stacking for bargains

H&M are ridiculously inconsistent. Took back a pair of trousers no invoice giftcard for full amount. Took back a jacket and they said returns can't be processed without the invoice.
i went to return a £12.99 playsuit, she said i could get it on a giftcard so i agreed, and then she said she would have to deduct the discount so she would have refunded me about £1 so i said i may aswell keep it!! She let me exchange it for another £12.99 item though.♥ Blogger at Victoria's Vintage Blog ♥0 -
My jacket was £40...maybe that's why...they wouldn't exchange either. Just very odd0

That's just stupid, I mean what difference does it make to them if you exchange it right there and then for another item of the same value, or if they issue you a gift card?? Very silly returns policy if you ask me...0 -

My thoughts exactly. Though I suppose maybe they think you will sell a gift card on?0 -

Thought I would let you know how I got on with a return and I have to agree how inconsistent H&M are with their returns policy. I went to a H&M store today to return a denim jacket I paid £8.89 for including postage but I did not take the invoice slip as I was hoping they would refund the full price on to a gift card. I was told at this store that they could not exchange or refund without an invoice slip. I left and thought I would chance my luck by going to another H&M on my way home. I was told there that I could exchange it or have the amount put on a gift card! I then chose some replacement items but when it came to the assistant putting it through she had to phone head office to find out the online selling price. I was then in store for 30 minutes as the man on the phone from head office questioned me over the duplicate accounts, discounts, how much I paid and collected my details. Eventually the sales assistant said he had allowed her to exchange my items and told her to put it through at full selling price -£19.99. I am happy with the end result as I did get £19.99 worth of items for £8.89 but it did panic me and H&M should have a set returns policy as different stores seem to be giving different information.0

Has anyone tried to order anything last night or today using a card?
I tried last night and this morning and it said the following
Payment transaction not authorized, contact your bank / card issuer for more information. Try using another card, or click Cancel to switch payment method."
I rang my credit card company and they said my card is fine.
