Good Afternoon All
well I'm feeling very productive today.
Ive done a tot up of all my savings and extra earnings this month so far and have just transferred it all into a savings account, so that's £300 and it s only the 10th so well chuffed.....:D
Just £350 to go to reach my target this month.
Ive taken a bag full of stuff to my lady who sells for ME, no idea what it's worth so we will just wait and see. Realistically I think I won't doing much selling now until September, after the school holidays.
On my travels I called into one of my favourite plant nurseries, it's only a very small enterprise, part farm shop and just a few plants. choice is limited but their plants are always af least less than half of the big garden centres.
Anyway stocked up on a couple of small shrubs and some perennials. These can be grown on and divided up next year - all part of my forward planning for cheaper landscaping.
Ive got 7 houses booked for viewings over the next few days.......
I'm extra cited.!!!
Just going to,have a late lunch then go out into, the garden when it's a bit cooler.
Have a great week end.
And if you can't make any money, then don't spend too much.:rotfl:
PS - Karma Hope you have a fab holibob. Come back all refreshed and raring to go.0 -
Well my day was going well, I found a photographer who doesn't edit his photos and edited a few for him he seemed really interested (the offer was to do some light editing for him basically) until he asked for a price in which I said £20 for 100, which to be fair is pretty decent considering 3-4 hours work at a guess but haven't heard from him since. A bit gutted but moving on...
I'm not sure if we will reach my £1000 goal purely because I have some photographers equipment to buy, but I will give it a shot. Business is doing well had a few bulk orders which is rare to get one but I think I've just done my fourth for this week and it's helped the bank balance a bit so it may counter it self out.
Good luck on house viewings :-)People don't know what they want until you show them.0 -
Just celebrating that I've finally managed to sort all my business stuff out, been putting it off for months!! But all my paperwork is more or less sorted, got to wait for some stuff to come in post to finalise but that's pittance in what I've done.
Business is going well, I emptied the account out more or less before the wedding but I'm building back to a £1,000 float for it, I don't count this in savings or anything as it's basically to buy stock etc as I need it but I'm not far off now, I'm hoping I will be able to skim some from the top of that £1,000 to get my £1,000 savings target for the month...but we'll see. We have to go up to Leeds twice this month which is 8 hours driving total + we have a few nights out planned with friends so it's all a bit 50/50 ATM...we also have signed up for a holiday for next year which is £40 off our budget but I think I mentioned I got hubbie to cut down on his £40 a week to cover it (whether that happens yet or not is tbc lol)
Also I think I have found a solid way of keeping myself on this diet, I've been waiting over a year for this TV show to come out and I love it but I wait until the season is ended as I like to watch them one after the other...well gets rid of the point but I've basically said every time I lose 1/4 of a stone I will watch the next episode, when I've lost two stone I will then go on to watch the rest of the series (so I guess at least I will still get to watch a good chunk together)
It sounds a bit crazy but I really really want to watch this show and I know if I only have to lose literally 3.5 pound for each ep I would do it so much faster..and tbf you can healthy lose 2-3 a week (so I'm told). Whatever works for me I guess!!!
I've watched the first episode because I knew the 'what happens next' would keep me going and for the 2nd episode I am just touching over 1/2 a stone so I said once I lose the first couple pounds back under the 1/2 a stone mark I'll watch the 2nd...
The twix and a new kitkat is on top of the fridge now because I was so tempted to eat it so it went up their to!!!
On a money note, our credit card is around £850 mark for last month, it was a bit of the honeymoon petrol in their and I have £250 saved (£400-450 is normal but sometimes we add stuff on their but put cash to one side which is fine) but means we've still over spent by about £200...got to pull reins in greatly, hopefully with my diet being a bit more pushed the takeaways will save us a bit of money and my OH has really cut back on his drinking.
All in all, once this is all over I think I will put some money aside to buy a few new clothes and have a takeaway as a treat whilst watching my TV series (I'm such a big kid it's Once upon a time btw..haha)
Wish me luck!!!People don't know what they want until you show them.0 -
Good luck, I love "once upon a time" ...
And it's a good way of keeping you motivated.
Not having a great day, just shattered and a bit down in the dumps. I was silly last week and ate too much wheat, so now im paying the price, tummy upset, joint pain etc. it's my own stupid fault. I won't do it again. It's back to Paleo for me.
I viewed some houses, the one that looked good on paper - ramshackle old cottage but set in 3/4 acre garden which had planning permission for an echo build turned out to have problems with access plus it was a very steep sloped site - ok if you are a mountain goat but no good for an old crock like me so ive passed on that one.
Never mind there will be something out there. Time enough yet.
DS1 has been approached to sell his house which as you know is a major project, built 1756 Grade II listed. He's not finished yet and already someone has expressed interest so a good sign. I dont think he is interested in selling yet but he's going to Invite them round for a chat.
At least we know it wasn't such a crazy buy - despite the mammoth renovation job - the people who have expressed their interest referred to it as their dream house.....:rotfl:
Let's hope DS2s house is as successful. I must admit it's looking pretty good, the garden is coming along nicely, all major works done, just some decorating and final flourishes now. Then we will get it valued and make a decision whether or not to sell or hold. We've gone over budget but ive learned a hell of a lot. I think I'm better placed to tackle the next one, hence why I'm being so choosy.
Ive checked my figures this morning and it's looking good this month, I should make my savings target with a bit to spare.;)
now if I could just be as successful with the weight loss :rotfl:
I need to focus and find my diet mojo.0 -
grrr, spent the last 4 months in email conversation with aegon and the pension rep at my work trying to get something sorted. Months of them telling me its all sorted and being back dated and not sure why ive not been able to access their site.. Well turns out they did nothing at all with my request until a couple of days ago. Worse still i was expecting about a grand in there and instead there is zero.
so a combination of incompetence and lies. Fantastic. These are who im trusting part of my retirement plans with!
had a very spendy weekend with lots of cider and live music. Oops. The headliner was heather small of M people. Still has a very big voice and quite a big name for a free festival.
leaving do and the harbour festival next weekend so more cider and shenanigans... Lets hope my pension people can find my missing grand when i give them what for tomorrow. Net worth is going to take a battering otherwise(!)
been looking at a new (to me) investment. Abundance generation. It invests in wind, solar etc. Green energy and returns 7.5% and above. Minimum investment is only a fiver. So easy to dip a toe, although thinking about more like having a paddle. We shall see. Research stage at the moment. Considering a high number of my investments profit from tobacco, pharmaceuticals and other peoples debt... Be nice to have a more positive investment. The maths have to be right first though!!0 -
Biscuits - that's shocking about your pension. It's a good job you are on the ball. Hope you get it sorted soon but yes just keep chasing.
Thanks for the tip about Abundance generation - sounds interesting.
Had a bit of a rough day yesterday, so just rested and pottered about. I didn't even set foot out the door other than to wander round the garden - at least I didn't spend anything and I did earn a bit of passive income - earned a days worth of interest :rotfl:
Now that I've rejigged all my accounts I reckon im earning about £150 a month in interest at the moment, it helps a bit and is being left to accumulate although I do need to focus on a buying a flipper and maybe a BTL and get my money working.
I'm coming up to the 1st Anniversay of my husband's death and I'm finding it very hard. It's sort of looming over everything at the moment and I'm finding it difficult to think about the future.
Hopefully this is the last big emotional hurdle and then I can move on.0 -
just need to find a way to stop eating, using fuel and generally consuming and that £4.80 a day will start piling up. But seriously, that's a healthy 50-60k cash fund there. Well done.
im still quite cash poor. Want to change this, but then i look around the house and see jobs that need doing in every room! Neighbour has been having extensive work done and im hoping he will help out with the cracks that he has caused or made worse. I do have legal cover if he wont, but do i want a messy drawn out legal case? Nope. Hopefully he will be reasonable.
i keep seeing investing opportunities and either turning them down or taking half measures, concerned about how much cash i may need for house repairs. So do need to get it sorted.
for example both china and south korea's markets have taken huge drops in the last month. Ive bought a few shares in both as they look good value right now, but more for fun with the amounts we are talking about. Will top them up near the end of the month if they still look value, but again. Small amounts.
same with the commercial wind turbines. Looks worth a look but cant commit a sizeable chunk for what could be 19 years knowing my attic wall my cost thousands to fix.
not very good at confrontation and even more put off by the fact his partner is 8 months pregnant. Don't want to be seen as the aggressor or cause of stress to his partner!0 -
Gosh LL I can't believe how time flys. I hope all is well for you.
I think I might add my lottery as passive income, I've won £25 every month bar one since Feb and it costs me £8 a month so I reckon it's working in my favour. So annoying getting these 'check your online account' e-mails though...you can only hope you've won for 5min whilst you log on lol
2 pound lost so far, I watched the 2nd ep yesterday but now the real test is losing the 1/4 stone now. See how I go, I need to get control off myself how am I ever going to be a millionaire if I can't have basic self control?People don't know what they want until you show them.0 -
Good morning all
Kaya - well done on the Weight loss this week, that's a great start...I'm afraid ive not done very well so not gojng to weigh myself, I'll only get demoralised ....I'll try harder and will do better next week....promise;)
Biscuits - sorry to hear about the damage caused to your house, I'm assuming this is the party wall that is showing Cracking. I'm afraid you do need to,get this checked out, just in case anything is untoward. hopefully it's nothing serious and just a few "settlement" cracks. Hope you get it sorted out.
Well Ive had a week of two halves really.
Been a bit low a couple of times but I'm pretty sure this is linked to,that looming anniversary of My husband's death, but I'm not going to worry I'm sure I'll ride through it and come out the other side. I'm not going to mark the occasion with a memorial service or anything, I'll just keep the day clear and remember him in my own way in private.
Ive also been a bit disappointed at the houses I viewed - again I'm not going to fret - im sure I'll find something soon.
On a more positive note - Money wise it's been great. I have just transferred another £300 to savings, so what with that plus earned interest im just £17 shy of this months target. I should manage it with ease.
Ive not unduly Skimped this month either, I bought myself a nice dress, treated ds2 to lunch out, had a little spend at the garden centre, so ive not suffered any hardships in my frugal endeavours.
Yesterday I struck lucky again with the YS bargains at M&S and LO and behold DS2 came home with some bits from work. He works at a garden centre and they have a very posh deli. He bought home some very expensive treats they were giving away.
So once again there's enough food to feed a small army. The funny thing is since I started being extra frugal with the food budget we seem to be eating better than ever. Cooking from scratch, using the finest ingredients from the YS stash means we are eating like kings at the moment.
Ive also put in my claim for PPI and sent some bits to my lady who, sells for me. Obviously I won't get anything this month from that, but it's all extra to come in for the future and will all go into savings.
Ive also discovered a new venue to do a car boot sale, in a more upmarket area so Im going to try some of my mid range collectables and bric a brac. I shall scope it out next week to see what kind of things seem to sell well and then aim to,do a sale the week after all being well.,
Both August and September look to be fairly expensive so a couple of car boots might ease the pain......:rotfl:
Have a great weekend.0 -
I am such an air head at times........
I was checking my current account this morning and wondering why I seemed to be a bit short in there when I realised that I had forgotten about a direct debit which I have for my regular savings account.
Doh......
So it transpires that I have saved £850 so far this month, not £600. wahoo.....now if I add the interest as well im just £17 short of hitting £1k.
I think I can manage that, so am delighted.
Unfortunately that might be a one off, next months savings will not be nearly so dramatic. Still it's a good start.
The frugal living continues......although I might splash out and have my hair done soon.
I'm actually really enjoying this little challenge. It really is amazing what we can achieve when we put our minds to it. Ive not gone without, I still have plenty of little treats so I could cut back even further if I needed to but don't really see the necessity.
There's no point wearing a hair shirt if you don't have to.
I'm not in Mr Moneymoustache's league and never will be but I am feeling really chuffed with what I have achieved this month. I didn't think I'd do it, I thought I had set myself an Impossible goal but apparently not.0
