Thanks for all the birthday wishes.

Ive been busy gardening this morning for DS1 whilst waiting in for a delivery. His garden is an absolute jungle - he has been so busy working on the inside.

Plastering is just about finished. It's a huge house and he's done all the plastering himself - entirely self taught. He was getting a bit fed up at the end until I worked out that he had saved hinself at least £3k by doing it himself. That cheered him up and means he can go to town on the bathroom which goes in next month.

After leaving DS1s place I did a quick trawl round the chazza shops after calling in the post office.

Bought a beautiful green silk evening dress for a bargainous £7.50 - well it would have been rude Not to.:rotfl:

(So yes I broke my no frivolous spending rule today but it's an "investment" piece the sort of dress I will wear over and over again - weddings, posh dinners and lunches, days at the races, holidays. Perfick.

Going to take it easy for a bit and then get myself all dolled up for tonight.:D

Gentleway - Good that the kitchen is coming on, and great news that youVe found a tenant.

Your right LL, it would have been rude not to,
If its genuinely something you will get some use out of it was a great buy, it makes sense to buy something at a good price that you know you will use rather than rushing around and retail for it.
And if its not, I aint arguing with you on your birthday :D

    Enjoy your evening.

    Caught up properly again.

That sounds interesting Karma, I am not much of a techie.
I have 2 good ideas for apps (I think so), but apparently unless you can write yourself they ain't worth going to someone who can, cant really remember why, think it was costs could be crazy :o

Luckily my husband knows a bit of a phone wizz, so he is popping it over to him after work.
But you are right and I often forget how much I rely on technology when its not there.

Had an a annual leave day off work today, have been working my way though MB (matched betting) beginner offers, and lots of research on keeping accounts open and hiding internet info etc. A little cleaning/tidying and sorting, made a big pot of stew with whoopsie meat and veg- loads to freeze for lazy days and quick lunches, and lots of number crunching and working out smaller targets to this 1 mil :rotfl:

Hi everyone. I have taken on some of your suggestions for books and have some pre owned ones from Amazon on order :)

I also had a bargain-tastic weekend with my mum in a well known clothes shop (don't know if you can say or not). With my new job, I won't be wearing a given uniform anymore, so I have to buy a new office wardrobe. Well I got 6 tops, and some shoes for 60£ in the sales so I am quite happy with that. I also roped my boyfriend into helping me clean my car out thoroughly whilst the sun was out, saving me a few quid at the car wash. I'm gonna spend tonight shopping around for breakdown cover for my car as its run out, oops. I also want to find a cheaper version of my contact lenses. I'm with spec savers at the moment and I've finally found some that my eyes get along with after years of trying different types, however they are £25 a month. I might just have to be brave and wear glasses from now on as I can't bear to spend that much on them anymore!

I still have my app idea, I think it's brillant and whilst only for the female market everyone I talked to about it said they would use it my less savvy friend when I was telling her about it was demanding I tell her how to get it ...I've not made it yet!!! I could see it being a temporary craze that burns out and then has the regular uses.

(And yea I might be wrong but I head app programmers can charge up to £1000 an hour...if you are struggling choosing what to go into and you are techie savvy I reckon it would be time well invested to learn how!)

I think it's going to be one of those ideas at back of my head that never actually gets put to plan...I still have my cooking blog idea which I think would be a hit because of the niche market I would be aiming at but as my passion now lies in photography it's on my business plan to start a website or blog around it, I just don't quite know what about yet but I think it makes sense to monetise this from all angles (whoops) and put my two passions together!!

Just a quickie to thank you for all. Your kind thoughts and birthday wishes.

I may not be worth that £1m yet but I have been made to feel like a £1m. I have been spoilt rotten and have had a fabulous time so far. I say so far because I am being taken out to lunch today......

Last night was wonderful, Surrounded by some of my favourite people, in a fabulous restaurant, eating gorgeous Italian food (0MG - the calories:rotfl:) - wearing a posh silk frock - another of my chazza shop bargains - picked up some time ago for £10 and a glowing "jet set" suntan - free - courtesy of my gardening........

Just goes to show you can look like a million without spending a million :rotfl:

My naughty boys clubbed together and bought me a sleek very cool new CD player, so not only can I get my CD collection out of storage but apparently it also links up to music on my iPhone and IPad. Do I sound as if I know what I'm talking about. Lol.

Looks like I'm being dragged into the 21st century....DS2 is going to set it all up for me and show me how to.link it all up.

I have actually bought myself an IPad for seniors book but ive not even looked at it yet.....I think it's time I did.

I shall get techno savvy if it kills me.......

Talking of Apps. - Oh Lord I can't believe I'm saying this......:rotfl: we played a game in the restaurant on my sons phone. You think of a character, real. Or imaginary and the app asks a load of questions and tries to guess the character. Ill try and find out what it's called.

It's addictive, you get obsessed with trying to beat the app.......so simple and yet pure genius.

so yes, Kay develop that app. There's money to be made. As I said yesterday, I just wish I had a brain that worked that way.......

lessonlearned, I'm so sorry that I missed sending you my best wishes for a wonderful birthday on your actual special day:o. I don't visit this thread as often as I should, it's always a motivator and energiser whenever I do pop in:T

It sounds as if you were treated royally by those who mean the most to you:j. Just what you needed and deserved for all the effort, time and care you put in to help others:A

It sounds as if it's not over yet either, with more fun and happiness to come today (not to mention the lovely food;))

If you still have the space after all that, here's a big slice of cake from me:bdaycake:, together with a glass or two of your favourite tipple:beer:. I doubt it's beer but that's the only smiley I could see:rotfl:

Reminds me of an old web site called "Guess the dictator or sit-com character", where as you might imagine, you think of either a dictator or sit-com character, and it asks questions until it can guess who it was, and it was very good if a little US-centric (for the sit-com characters, I mean). I won't post the link, but a search for the above gets it first time in Google.

Having apps written can be expensive, but I'd doubt it would get near £1000 per hour. There are sites around where people bid for jobs and that can include people all over the world who are prepared to work for very low bids. That often means "very low quality" as well, but there are some middle-range people who will do good work for reasonable prices.

Glad you had a good birthday LL :-)

Went to open day @ Nursery, it is basically a big play area she asked me if I had any concerns about him being ready and tbh I don't anymore, he is still behind but all they will be doing is playing and it looks like he will have a world of a time.

I also found out that DS2 can go from January after his 3rd Birthday, she was very impressed with him and said he looks ready to go already as he was playing so nicely haha.

Money is being asked for already got a letter asking for volunteer contributions of £2.50 per half term..which to be fair is not unreasonable and the money is used to buy extra bits for kids ..special food tastings sort of activities so all in all that's a plus, I feel horrible for wanting him to get into school asap haha but it does mean that DS2 will be going to Nursery in a year and half compared to two, although it will still be 3 years before he is in full time education it really would help me out a lot and I can see how all he is going to be doing is playing my eldest is not going to want to come home!!

My dads holiday cottage in Wales is set up, I think it's funny they have spent so much kitting it out he doesn't want to push it getting rented out because he doesn't want people to mess it up.... hmmm lol

LL - it's not going to be the hardest app to make but it wouldn't be simple either, I think I would be looking at months of learning to make it (although at least I would pick up an extra skill) and ATM it's just not a priority, plus it's a quite unique idea that is very very unlikey that someone else will think of it, so I am hoping perhaps in future if I find myself thumb twiddling I could put it to play...but I want to focus on my shooting for now :-)
