Think I'll just send them the pics and ask them to look at them again, as a little game, like one of those 'spot the error' competitions!!!
I'm all for playing games with them but just expect even more threats and desperate attempts to part you from your money. They see a response as a bite and will hound you even more. You'll need a thick skin.

Thanks - as the saying goes - forewarned is fore-armed - or something like that!!
The store manager is supportive, not sure if that will help us......we have quoted him in our letter to head office. I heard the company can tell their stupid parking company to cancel these 'fines'.

Really? Goodness this topic really is a minefield....I will certainly be on the look out at supermarket car parks from now on.

Not really - This is a fairly simple scam TBH, which relies on scare tactics and widespread public ignorance for its continuance.

Tell you OH you are posting the letter, and chuck it in the bin. Nothing good will come from contacting them.

Thanks to everyone who has taken the time to respond to me today - it has certainly put a very different slant on the whole problem.

Sat down with OH and let him read all these posts and we're going to 'sleep on it' before deciding what to do next (if anything...)

Anyone reading this, please do feel free to add any more advice - especially anyone who has had experience with this particular company. Bunch of *****.

Complain to Lidl's head office saying that thanks to a contractor acting on their behalf harassing a customer they have lost your custom and the custom of your friends & family.

Sit your OH down for 40 minutes and watch the videos in the thread below, they are from watchdog and the BBC

Excel Parking, MET Parking, Combined Parking Solutions, VP Parking Solutions, ANPR PC Ltd, & Roxburghe Debt Collectors. What do they all have in common?
They are all or have been suspended from accessing the DVLA database for gross misconduct!
Do you really need to ask what kind of people run parking companies?

just do nothing .how many more times do you need this advice. Ignor the parking invoice . Please do not write to them.
A letter to lidl may get the scammers to move to another carpark and dont shop there again until they do.

And after watching the Watchdog videos, especially the paper aeroplane one with Tim Cary, Solicitor with relevant expertise, also show your OH the sticky thread at the top here:

    http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/forumdisplay.php?f=163

'PPC letters, what to expect' gives you the Athena full letter-chain in pictures. There is NO NEED to write to the parking company, no need to waste so much time over this scam - you can just ignore the letters unless the vehicle is leased/company car, as the threatograms will be sent to the registered keeper (your OH?). He then just files & ignores them, playing snap with the pics on our top thread until you get the last 'Final Final Warning'.

If he wants to write something just email a stiff complaint to Lidl Head Office ONLY (their website should have details). Tell them about the conversation at branch level but that you refuse to enter into correspondence with a private parking co and are astonished that Lidl entertain this company carrying out a practice akin to a protection racket against Lidl customers.

Attach a link to the Watchdog paper aeroplane youtube clip and this thread, why not? Supermarkets need to learn about the scam that they are allowing to take place in their name and the pseudo-legal threats that then get sent to their customers. I am certain that most retailers have no idea.
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

julie - you have been getting the same excellent, consistent & accurate advice here as well as on your thread over on CAG.
I'm just a little bemused as to why you (but particularly your BF) seem so reluctant to heed it & just 'do your own thing' regardless.
