Off to get the sticky....................

Hi, this is the Daily Thread for Tues 10th May. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.

When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.

Good Morning everyone

Been up since 5 :o OH woke me when he went out to meet a driver.
Well I guess it gives me a head start on the day.

In the office this morning then housework this afternoon, caught up with the ironing :j so only have yesterdays washing to iron. Only washing towels today so no ironing tomorrow.

Dinner will be something on toast or something out as both kids have different activities after school.

DD had a 'motivator' come talk at her school yesterday. Basically he told them that if they are not ready for their GCSE's now then they are stuffed! I could have been a lot more motivating and probably a lot cheaper :rotfl: luckily she has her head in the right place and wasn't unduly bothered.

Hope everyone is OK, (((hugs))) wherever needed.

Have a great day.x

Good morning EssexGirl and all to follow.

Bright and sunny again here, although there are some fluffy dark clouds floating overhead. Kept on clouding up and threatening rain, but they didn't precipitate in this neck of the woods.

I was over-ruled on dinner last evening. OH decided that he would buy and cook steak:) So preparation of wedges and garlic mushrooms were my contribution.

Don't know if I've got work today, but there's more than enough to keep me occupied here.

The garden is growing well. We shall be eating hg cucumbers before May is out - they are growing a-pace.

Dinner tonight will be Chinese style spare ribs and chicken wings for 7 of us. DD1 will be in charge of ribs and rice.

Happy Tuesday folks. Hugs for those who need or want.
    Cheers m'dears, Silver x

What a waste of space that "motivator" was EG. Glad your DD didn't get overly worried by such negativity.

Sistercas I hate it when I have nightmares and know just what you mean about them carrying on if you close your eyes again, hugs to you x

Up since 5 with DS as he wet the bed:o Have bathed him and now have the washing in...lord knows how I am going to get it dry as am at work today.
I went in yesterday after all....was awful, boss spoke to me like I was a 3 year old within 10 mins of me being there:(
I soooo wanted to just hand my notice in yesterday and only have 4 weeks to work. I think i will hand it in in 2 weeks then that gives me 3 weeks pay for June.
I really dont know if I can cope with working there that long and may go to GP about it soon.
Just skimmed yesterdays thread and didnt take it all in so sorry if i missed anything important.
Bitsy Hope you get the statement meeting sorted, it is a stressful time. DS got his straight away but he is on the severe end...I think it is people who have kids on the milder end of the spectrum who have a hard time, mind you councils not wanting to give them out these days...I know of people who have non verbal kids who cant get one:mad:
Re Melatonin, I dont think they would prescribe it as although your DS doesnt sleep till 9ish he is still getting a decent amount of sleep each night. It would have to be Autism consultant who prescibed it initially as it isnt they have to request permission from somewhere as it isnt liscenced for children. GP cant prescribe it initially but can once first batch has been sorted. I dont know what to suggest re your DS going to bed earlier as have never managed to solve that one myself:o
Right believe it or not have to nip to Sainsburys now as DS wants sausage sandwiches for breakfast and will only have them in rolls and dont have any in the house:cool::o

Good morning everyone and another beautiful morning it is at the moment here in Kent.School run with two DGS .I hope Henry (9) ,the other one is o.k. He is off on his school trip and won't be back until Friday. The weather is looking good for him at the moment and I expect he is having a great time.He lives and breathes football so I expect he will be doing a lot of that .His next brother up Jack (11) is doing some SATS tests this week which will detrmine which stream he will go in when he goes to senior school this September.
Well hopefully I shall finish off the porch painting today.I have a slight crack in the plaster that must be filled first then once thats dry its full steam ahead.
If I still have any energy left over I will do the inside of the down stairs windows as my window cleaner is due and he does the outsides. All this sunshine shows up the ravages of winter and by keeping busy indoors it stops me from going to the shops:):)
Lunch will be HM veggie soup,I have enough for today and tomorrow in the fridge then whats left of the tiny chook that I cooked I may knock up a small curry as I have mushrooms that need using up and some odds and ends that I can throw in with it.Every scrap of food is getting used from my fridge this week in one way or another. I have a ys melon that I bought for 49 p so I will use that up and make a fruit salad for pudding.I have grapes and bananas and an orange that also need to be used up before long .
I am definitely being what my DDs call in my 'Frau Frugal' mood this month and trying to cut back on as much as possible. Its suprising how inventive one can be at times where food is concerned.Hope you all have a good day
    Cheers JackieO xx

    Morning all
I slept better last night thankfully, I can see it's going to be a 'bit of a week this week' BIL is back to the hospital today, he's struggling with feelings of abandonment & my son & 2 friends were arrested by armed police, & it's only Tuesday! It was a mistake BTW, my son wasn't charged with anything.
    Freezer roulette for tea tonight.
    Have a good day everyone.
    Hugs Hester

    Morning all,

Another bright day here, I spent nearly all of yesterday painting the dresser, did not do my shopping or tidy etc, so those will be first on the list today.

I also need to make a shepherds pie for dinner so will get those jobs done this morning, then get on painting, should finish today just final top coats to be done.

Uolypool, so glad it all worked out for your dd xxx

Hugs where needed, have good days all x

Goodness Hester what a time you're having lately!

Just a quickie today - got loads on (surprise!) Carpets went in yesterday and the whole place is starting to look like a home at last. Going to go and finish the glossing this morning after the school run and then assuming DS2 is reasonably compliant i'll start some painting in the last of the bedrooms.

    Have a good day everyone
