The one I found was from 2 months ago...Back in XP there was a simple program to enable/disable the portable version as default, just a matter of having the registry entries point in the right direction.-Scott-

Haha, it's the same one I'd seen originally with the stunning recommendation from its own author:

"I wrote an extension called Switch to tab no more. I feel that it works less well than the Blacklist extension, but more people seem to be using it. I myself am using the Blacklist extension and not my own! If anyone has reasons why mine is better, or just does something the Blacklist one doesn't, please let me know and I'll get it reviewed so it will be visible to more people. Otherwise I plan to let it die."
Well now that I'm using it, I may as well stick at it until something properly reviewed is released. 'Blacklist' is still unreviewed other than for security, much the same as 'Switch to tab no more'. I don't plan to use the 'Switch to tab' feature at all, so don't need to do it selectively as per Blacklist. Simpler is better.0 -
Oh...I didn't even read the thread :rotfl: just saw the addon link...-Scott-

Wow just got a message to update to Firefox 5.0!
"A security & Stability update is available - Firefox 5.0. It is strongly recommended you apply this update for Firefox as soon as possible"
That seems to be quick having been on versions 3.** for what seemed like a long time then Firefox 4 more recently.
Any thoughts?"Things can only get better.................c/o D:Ream #The 90's"

I just ran a system update and noticed that FF5 was installed... The only difference from FF4 is that one of my add-ons (TACO) doesn't work any more. Other than that, it looks identical to FF4.
Here are a few web pages with info about the improvements in FF5 (vs. FF4):

According to this (First ive heard of it)
http://news.softpedia.com/news/Firefox-5-Beta-Is-Faster-Adds-CSS-Animations-Channel-Switcher-201633.shtml
The beta version of the upcoming Firefox 5 has been released. With the switch to the rapid release cycle, new Firefox versions will be coming a lot faster, ideally one every six weeks.
So were going to get firefox 6 in 6 weeks (Give or take)?? I suppose technically it doesnt matter. But I find it a tad daft personally:idea:0 -

FF5 - they haven't done much on it yet.
In Linux its codenamed Aurora.
Even have an offering for Firefox 6 in debian - but that won't exist for a long time yet (its just version numbers for now).
And just looking at this http://www.mozilla.com/en-GB/firefox/channel/
Aurora (version 6) is the unstable offering after beta.0 -
I have upgraded,
can't really see much difference....yet!?

The rapid shift is to try and compete with Chrome (which constantly updates in the background) - most of the new versions will simply feature minor bug fixes.0
