Thanks you 2....you are right of course...it's a long hard road to becoming deft free but once there I don't know what I'll be doing....it's probably cos I'm not having my holiday in jan this year like I normally would...so nothing to look forward to but Jan 2009 will soon come around I guess ...that's when we next go away...cold wet days don't do much for my mood either...but we will have loads more choices when we're DF that's for sure!!

HI Seaxwyn..you snook in there...I'm nowhere near £35k yet..so you are still going to win that one...no worries there!!
I've had the same mortgage advisor for 5 years ever since I bought my first house(this one)....he's really nice...he was in the estate agents next to my bank and I called in for a chat to ask about mortgages as I was absolutely clueless....he called me back 2 hours later with an agreement in principle....then i had a remortgage...and he'll be doing this one...
£ months before your deal ends you need to see somebody as they get an AIP and then hold it for you until you need to use it(as your deal ends)...ie I have an appointment Jan...he says fees would wipe out potential savings for me as I don't owe very much but they are ok on bigger mortgages...I find the best policy is honesty with the advisor as well...a lot of people confuse self cert with sub prime apparently...I think you can get a good impression from them as you speak to them...I don't pay him a fee either as he gets the commission from the mortgage lender...he's confident he can get free valuation, legal fees and fee free mortgage...so I leave him to it and he comes up with a few and I pick which one I want...it's really simple...I would never go to a bank for a mortgage as they are quite often overpriced and only sell their products...he is whole of market and if you have a lot of equity in your house...loads of mortgage lenders do self cert...

Hey Seax - I went through London & County who martin recommends and they are free too - might be worth checkng with them? You don't have to go with anything they say.

    That's ok Sea...but I wouldn't touch them with a barge pole...here's why!!!!!!!
I filled in their online form stating to phone after 4pm...they phoned the next morning at 9am....I said this isn't convenient I need you to phone after 4pm as DH sleeps all day and I am working from 7am until late afternoon...they apologised .....said they'd call back after 4pm and proceeded to call back that same day a further 12 times!!!!!...I answered as I happened to be off and got sick of asking them to call back later....my DH needs to sleep as he works all night...they were so disrespectful...so will not get my business...I told them never to phone again and that I would use somebody else as they were so ignorant and couldn't respect somebodys wishes..they eventually got the message!!!!
Thought I would let you know

Morning Taxi, I lurk, but haven't yet posted on your diary :hello:
I just wanted to say that there is a Chinese curse "may you live in interesting times"
Having been through years of fighting a court case, I welcome dull. Debt busting is as interesting as I want it. I now long for a quiet evening at home with the cat so I can continue knitting Christmas presents. Boy does that make me sound old!:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

Yep, dull does it for me too! Then I can *choose* what my excitement is going to be, rather than landing in doodah and living in crisis management!

    Go Taxi - 36000s!
