What is the evidence to suggest that this proposal would lead to the majority of motorists paying more tax anyway?
  • Why shouldnt you pay more tax dependent upon how much you use your car?

I would much prefer a tax at source

and do you honestly believe that the little black box is only going to tell them how much you use your car?they will know exactly where you are and what speed you are doing.not to mention knowing if you have tax and insurance.and before you all start i know we should all have tax and ins.cant see the civil liberties group letting this law through.its smacks of big brother.

Although we are not to mention it ... the problem with that is what, exactly?

I really cant see this as spam as I cant find it on any other board (so far) I think it was a "jump to conclucsion syndrome" something easily done, anyway I think its good to bring a petition to the forefront as many of them get overlooked and then when a price hike or tax increase happens we/most just sit back and moan, well nows our chance to have our say. :)

    Just chillout people :)

it,s not the tax and ins i have a problem with.its the fact that the government would be able to tell from the push of a button where i was in britain.i wasn,t moaning about them i was using them as an example of what info the authorities would be able to garner from these boxes.would you honestly want one fitted to your car ray?

    So why mention it?

Yes if it helps to reduce road congestion, changes peoples motoring habits, gets people fitter, reduces pollution, and helps the problem of global warming. I would also hope that such a scheme is tax neutral.

Do you think things can go on as they are? Did you travel in central London before the congestion charge?

Anyway, as I've already said this issue is political and has nothing to do with the meaning of this site so I won't be commenting further because it must be very disappointing to people who are looking for money saving advice to see thread after thread about political petitions.

If im doing nothing wrong why the hell should i care who knows where i am?
If they know how fast you are doing - so what? we all know that excessive speed kills - we all (well most of us) still speed where we think we can get away with it. This may [prevent us driving like that.

I always find it strange when people comment about issues like this - if you have nothing to hide why would anyone care?
