anti road pricing petition
The government's proposal to introduce road pricing will mean you having to purchase a tracking device for your car and paying a monthly bill to use it.
The tracking device will cost about £200 and in a recent study by the BBC, the lowest monthly bill was £28 for a rural florist and £194 for a delivery driver.
A non working Mum who used the car to take the kids to school paid £86 in one month.
On top of this massive increase in tax, you will be tracked. Somebody will know where you are at all times. They will also know how fast you have been going, so even if you accidentally creep over a speed limit you can expect an NIP with your monthly bill.
If you care about our freedoms and stopping the constant bashing of the Car/Van/Bike User, please sign the petition on No 10's new website.

I have done it, now spread the word to all fellow petrol heads. With an election coming up, imagine the effect if we can get a million motorists to sign up.

This has been on the cards for several years ... we have complained bitterly about road tax and the price of petrol ... so they have thought of a new way (which is nothing to do with being beneficial to the motorist just a better way of raising tax). You are right though .. they will be able to track your every movement, make you pay by the mile and issue speeding fines even before you reach your destination ... cool technology or what ?
On one hand it could be seen as unair, on the other hand it could be sen as a much fairer way of taxing motorists (based on consumption). The gutter press will always highlight extremes so I wouldn't take too much notice of the figures hown .. we can pretty much be guaranteed they will not be 'typical'.

If they're going to do something to raise taxes for road infrastructure then they should just hike the petrol duty up massively.
That way they not only encourage people to think whether they really need to use their Chelsea tractor to go to the newsagents to pick up the papers on a Saturday morning, but they will also encourage people to consider not getting a Chelsea tractor in the first place. Hopefully, loads of people would choose cars that give them more miles to the gallon.
I agree with charging people more for using the roads, but only if it means investment in both road infrastructure and public transport.
I am completely opposed to forcing people to have trackers installed in their cars. However, I hope the people who were endorsing mandatory drugs tests on schoolkids last week also endorse having their cars tracked. After all, if you've nothing to hide you've nothing to fear.0 -
Petitions are by and large a waste of time - if you want to get a result, try this method, but please be aware that it takes a bit of effort and it requires a lot of support.
I magine that you, like I get a carp through your letterbox from the main political parties, am I correct ?
The next time that you get some, instead of simply thrwing it away, lining your bin, or putting it into the cat's litter tray, go to the back page, and somewhere there will be a thing that says something like 'if you would like more details about what the X party is doing in your area, sign here and return'.
Do so.
You have now gone onto the database of that party as a 'sympathiser or supporter'.
Next, just wait.
The next time that there is an election (of any flavour), wait for the canvassers to come around - now please bear in mind that at this stage you are on each of their databases as a sympathiser / supporter.
Now its time to keep a straight face.
& repeat after me
"Yes, my entire family have been lifelong voters for your party, but unless the party drops this ridiculous policy (insert relevant ridiculous policy), we will be forced to vote for (insert party) for the first time. We all feel very strongly about this and please don't doubt our resolve" Then thank them for their time and wish them away.
As I say, it needs a lot of popular support.

.
Why not use some of the billions that they already steal from road users, instead of frittering it away on pet 'pie in the sky' projects ?

Time to get the walking boots out, i worked out we do an average of 20 miles a day, any idea how much this would be.
What happens if you cant afford the tracking device.0 -

You'll probably get shot, your house taken off you, your family will be made homeless, your assets will be seized --- and then the Labour Party will send the proceeds to the eu / Africa / whatecer pet project they are keen on that day.
& naturally, not a single 1p will go towards improving the roads infrastructure.

MTCThe atmosphere is currently filled with hypocrisy so thick that it could be sliced, wrapped, and sold in supermarkets for a decent price and labeled, 'Wholegrain Left-Wing, Middle-Class, Politically-Correct Organic Hypocrisy'.0 -
