Hi, this is the Daily Thread for Sunday 8th May. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.

When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.

Good morning peoples,
It has had a good rain overnight again. The water butts were almost filled yesterday:) The rain was so heavy the sound of it woke me at 4:30!! But I got off to sleep again.

Dinner today will be for 7 of us: beef pot-roast, roast potatoes and yorkshire pudding. I make one very large Yorkshire pud, as some people like edge and some like middle:)

All this talk of sewing is making me think I should dust down my machine and get it working. Maybe, maybe......

Anyhow, will be getting ready for church in a little while.
Happy Sunday folks, hugs for those who need or want. Particular hugs for those who are not in a good place at the moment x x
Cheers, Silver x

Good Morning Silver and all to follow.

Looks like we have had some rain again but its very humid this morning.

Course was very good yesterday, in a lovely hotel and lunch was very nice :D It finished yesterday so no need to go today. Instead I shall be doing a marathon ironing session :o

Need to sort something out for dinner and menu plan for the week. OH is hoping to do some more fence staining if they dry out, DS will mooch about and DD will so some more GCSE revision.

Oh and going to make chocolate cupcakes today, have my new James Martin hand mixer to try.

Hope you have a good Sunday whatever you are doing.x

Morning ladies (where are all the gents these days N9eave, Halight and Stroppjock??)

More rain which TBH I don't mind after over half a month without. Garden and grass was looking really parched so needs a good drink.

Got chicken roasting, need to make some cheese straws and some scones to go with my clotted cream I bought from Aldi yesterday :D

Will be pottering about at home today, with a visit to my mum and dad and my niece and nephew will be there so kids can have a nice play together :D

Fancy going to camping shop in Old Arley, this place has been going since I was a kid and it had a massive fire last year and it's now re-opened. All this talk of camping has given me the bug again :o Anyway might go and have a camping "fix" and it's a trip out for the kids ;)

Hugs and spoons all round. Have a good Sunday OS or not.

    morning all

wet here too , great for the garden but it has battered my plants a bit

silvermaid the only time i get my sewing machine out is to repair things, its ages since ive actually 'made' anything . this week ive repaired a hole in DD1's cardi, repaired a hole in DD2's school trousers when they ripped up the crotch when she bent down :rotfl:and taken a couple of ties off a top that DD1 didnt like . I really should think about utilising it more . i used to make loads of stuff , clothes , soft furnishings .

    DD1 off to work soon
i need to think about what to do for lunch , I have beef, gammon and chicken but they are all in the freezer with no time to defrost , so it may have to be sausages

have a good day everyone xx

    Morning All,

Rain here too. I am also a sewist whose machine has been redundant for a while; my excuse is that I have no fabric stash left, and am not spending any money until my living room has its makeover ;)

Not much planned for today, still feeling pretty stressed, I have a huge amount of paperwork to catch up so may tackle that if I can concentrate. DS1's hair also needs cutting. I have a WM load on and one to go in, and will make bread in a minute. Going to try and get my head back into dieting today too.

Have a lovely day everyone, stay safe.

Morning all - seemingly heavy rain here last night - didn't wake me though. First load of washing in and double spun - I have loads of ironing to do and washing to sort out. Yesterday we ripped out the ensuite shower and found all the mould, which I'll treat before I replaster the walls. Last night we ordered a new shower and basin - need to talk to a plumber before we think about a new toilet and tiling etc. Still seems to be very damp outside - promise of more rain maybe - weatherforecast says ... showery and nothing of any sun until mid afternoon. Will uncover the tomatoes and strawbs and get my seeds out then as they need the water too. Have a good day all x
