Thanks for the very informative post and the links Bigzippy! I have a feeling I shall learn much on here!
I'll go and buy some folic acid today, no time like the present to get my body in shape! Are there any other recommendations for getting your body prepared to TTC?Giving up smoking, cutting down on alcohol, charting if you so choose to, folic acid (and any other vitamins you like - FA is usually on 3 for 2 in supermarkets too btw, probably at cheaper than Boots, I think I got 90tablets in each bottle that was around £2 from tesco?), create a nest egg, and just enjoy being with DH - and never forget that you're in it together! It's tough on them too sometimes
And speaking of DH, preparing him for the journey too - you might want him on folic acid, you might want to discuss whether he wants to know when you're ovulating or whether he'll feel that's too much pressure etc. It's hard when you're actually TTC because you think that you'll either overwhelm them, or put too much pressure on, or not giving them enough information, so they don't necessarily realise that there's only a few days a month that you could get pregnant...:o
I read through the What to Expect book too, just before we started TTC, as I wanted to know what the risks and dangers and downsides might be beforehand (if I read it pregnant I'd give myself nightmares!).
I'll hush up now :silenced: and creep back to the TTC thread"I am indelibly stained by hope and longing" - Nuts in May0 -
Hey everyone,
I hope all your plans for ttcing are underway.
I've been working nights and although I'm now off I can't sleep.
This gives me too much time to worry about things!
At work I've just been moved to a department that I didn't want to go to so I'm miffed about that, but my main worry is that it's a very busy department and stretched - whilst I'm not one to shy away from hard work, the last thing I want to be is stressed when we are ttcing.
Which will stress me out more as falling pregnant is my only way of getting out of that department!!
And breathe. Sorry to moan very tired and need to vent.

Don't creep away anywhere bigzippy!
I popped into Sainsbury's after work and they had Folic Acid on 3 for 2 at £1.05 a bottle so I stocked up! I told OH to start taking them and he was quite happy to which surprised me (think my jokey comment about it giving him 'Super Sperm' was taken more seriously that I expected!) although the label on the bottle worries him as it says 'Mum 2 Be!'...
Really good point about discussing with OH what he does and doesn't want to know. Don't want to give him any performance issues because he feels like he's under too much pressure! All of the Dads he knows seem to think it was really easy to concieve, one of his friends said, 'I just sneezed and she fell pregnant' but I'm sure that if I spoke to his wife she'd tell me how it had been a little more complicated than that! :rotfl:
Sounds like a bit of a stcky situation Chooch, hope things seem better in the light of day and you've managed to get some sleep.Overcome the notion that you must be ordinary. It robs you of the chance to be extraordinary!Goal Weight 140lb Starting Weight: 160lb Current Weight 145lb0 -

I have had blood tests and I am absolutely fine and the doc said it will be here when its ready!
Hi, just thought I would pop over with an update!
CD72 turned into CD1 yesterday! I dont know if it was just coincidence but another poster recommended agnus castus (herbal capsules) which help regulate your cycle which i had been taking for a couple of weeks.

Hi All,
Sorry I haven't been on much lately. Had a migraine yesterday, which passed fairly quickly, thank God. But then had a dentist appt for a root canal this morning.
It was the worst and most painful trip to the dentist that I've ever had! Root canals are never nice, but the infection was pretty bad this time. I've been complaining about the tooth for over a year, but they couldn't see anything (even on the x-ray) at first, so they thought it was just the wisdom tooth causing problems. But I had that out in October last year and was still having trouble with the tooth when I went for my check up in April. They could finally see, what looked like a small hole in the tooth, but it turned out to be worse than they thought.
3 injections in the gum, as well as another directly into the root and I was still crying in pain. It'ss still throbbing now. I'm sorry, this iss really whingy, but I feel awful right now.
HUGS to all those who need them.

Euro - that sounds horrible! Poor you (((hugs))) hope you are feeling lots better soon.
It's a horrid feeling but at least now they've got it out it won't keep hurting you.0 -
Birdie - Your not on the front post. What month are you starting ttcing?
Massive hugs Euro!! Nothing new here really. Off to Portugal tomorrow for a week. So I guess i'll see you all on my return!0 -
Oh euronorris that sounds AWFUL, I admit to being a total dentist-phobic (I went for the first time last year in 10 years, and had to have my OH there to hold me down! Lol) but even if I wasn't I'd be cringing. Poor you. Distract yourself thinking about all the nice things you'll eat once you can chew!
Thanks for the link to the abbreviations bigzippy, a few had me baffled!
My second lot of blood tests came back "abnormal" as well but my doctor is away so I don't have an appointment to discuss it until Tuesday! Another week of worry, sigh.
Also now worried because at request of GP I worked out how many AFs I've had in the last 18 months (since I came off Cerazette for the 2nd time)... three. Two were a month apart in Sept/Oct and one in March that lasted 2 light days so I doubt was a full AF with OV. Not good, I thought it was more than that. It seems completely pointless trying for one OV every 6-9 months with no idea when it'll happen! It's a double edged sword because if it's going to take ages I don't want to "waste" time not trying, but I really can't see the point of all the agony of TTC for ages without some form of medication to make it more regular. I'm a bit gutted because I knew it was irregular but had blotted out exactly how bad it was.

oh dear everyone!!
Euro-owwww is about all I can say, I had root canal about 10 years ago, and I can still remember the pain of the injection into the root. How about thinking that now you've coped with that, you'll be more prepared for labour?!
DDreamer-((hugs)) to you, keep positive, think about the fact that you are doing something about the situation, so are on your way to sorting it out and you have some time to sort it if your OH is deployed-who knows, by the time he comes back, you could be all ready to rock & roll!!
Welcome newbies and have a lovely holiday RebekahR

Euro that sounds awful! I hope your poor mouth recovers quickly. I hate going to the dentist and had my first proper 'procedure' last year when I had to have a tooth out and I had to have OH holding my hand al the way through, it was horrid! I kept the tooth to remind myself of my bravery though!
Dreamdreamer, would it be worth trying the supplement Littleme mentioned in her post above to see if that regulates your cycle at all? I suppose that's a good tip for those of us about to come off the pill, to take note of what's happening and when! I'm terrible at keeping track of things like that, before I started taking the pill many moons ago I always had a surprise when AF arrived as I never bothered working it out!
I'm going to start TTC in October so you can add me to the front page
