    Good morning peeps,

Wangdoodle I hope your talk with your OH goes well. It turns out that what I thought was a period whilst taking the pill was actually withdrawal bleeds and not my actual cycle. This means that I havent had a period for 10 years as first I started with the injection (which stopped all bleeding), then moved onto the implant (where I continued to not bleed) and then finally onto the pill. I'll keep my fingers crossed that both of our cycles return quickly and easily.

afoolandhermoney It is comforting to hear that other peoples cycles returned. I still can't help worrying about mine. It doesn't help that I am really impatient and want everything yesterday :rotfl:

AFM: Having recently moved into our house we are in the process of decorating and getting it organised. We want to have this all done before we start TTC. I am one of those people that can only cope with so much at a time. We have now finished decorating the small guest bedroom in neutral colours, which will hopefully one day be a nursery and also the office. This weekend we are going to go pick out and order a carpet so, once it's fitted, we can reassemble the furniture. Can't wait to have some semblance of organisation again.

    Hello Ladies,

I started posting on the TTC thread but in all honesty I don't think I quite belong there yet. Maybe I joined them to feel closer to TTC. :D

I'm 29 and DH is 32. Got married in November 2012 after 5 years together, DH wanted to wait a year before we started, I said why not start in June/July but I don't think we're quite ready yet. He's just started a new job and I'm trying to get the finances straight so it doesn't put added pressure on us when we head into parenthood. So we're back to the original timeline of starting in November. Which feels like it's ages away :( I think if I reallllly wanted to I could convince DH to start now but the reason he cited for waiting are valid and I know he's right.

All that said it is so tough when emotionally I'm ready. There isn't anything holding us back and I'll throttle the next person that asks me if I'm pregnant yet!

So if it's ok with you I might hang out here with you guys while we all wait :)
Some times you have to hold back to go forward to where you want to be.

  • ilovelondontown - welcome to the board :).
November isn't all that far away (though I'm sure it feels like an eternity at the moment - just remember how quickly the wedding came round this time last year and that should help). I think it'll be about 18months to 2 years before I can move to the TTC thread, so will probably see many come and go!

  • Hi afoolandhermoney,

Thanks for the welcome. Your right about it not being that far away, I felt this way about waiting to get engaged, then waiting for the wedding to come around, and here I am waiting again! So impatient!

After the wedding I was on pins and needles about ttc, but hubby was insistant that we wait. It got to the point that I was talking about it/dreaming about it and it started getting me no where so I took a break to focus on something else (finances) and it's really helped me to do something productive pre-ttc. The other thing is I've been very sociable lately. Never saying no to a drink and taking the chance to do all the things I can't do pregnant or with a child. Oh and sleeping in ;) I know I'll miss doing all those things when it comes to being "my turn" but waiting still sucks!

I'm getting good at seeing a pattern in my cycle, have read TCOYF and keep fit at the gym. I've got PCOS and an underacticve thyroid that aren't a great mix when ttc but I've got a resonable weight on me (9st 10 @ 5"3) so I'm happy wiht that.

The frame work is there, the finances just need to be better set and we need to enjoy one last summer of us.

    What's your story AFAHM?

For those wondering about coming off the pill, I was on the pill since I was 16, for about 7 years. I came off early this year and my periods continued as normal straight away. I had no problems. The only difference I noticed was my libido went up! A lot!

I only have 3 months to wait till TTC now but its such a hard wait! Especially because the only reason we are waiting is because we are going on a long haul holiday in September so don't want to risk getting pregnant before that, but the chances are it could take a while to get pregnant anyway so I keep think 'why not start now'! But I know we shouldn't!

    Hi all :)

Glad to see this thread getting busy! It's nice to have somewhere to chat about these things with people who understand.

Is anyone else trying to lose weight before TTC? I know I really need to. I had a difficult period last year when I had an illness and was on medication that made me gain weight like crazy. I then lost just over a stone and a half before my wedding....but after breaking my foot on my wedding day making me immobile and unable to exercise and prone to comfort eating I have gained back around half a stone :( I know I need to lose a good two stone ideally before starting to TTC. And I am terrible at losing weight :(

Amazing that you lost so much before you wedding! If you did it then I'm sure you can do it again! I am a very athletic person, I do lots of sports and make sure I eat well so fingers crossed my body should be fit and ready for pregnancy. It will be a big change for me though! As my hubby and I are currently using the withdrawal method (which is not 100% safe) I have stopped doing my daily 100 sit up that I usually do, just in case!

The best advice I can give you is to concentrate on eating well and NOT dieting! Dieting before TTC will just deprive you body from essential vitamins and nutrients. Ensure you are eating at least 3 meals a day with lots of fibre, protein, (good complex) carbs, fruits and veg.

You could loose 2 stone quickly by crash dieting or slimfast etc. but you and your future baby will be a lot healthier if you concentrate on eating a clean, varied diet, even if it means not loosing all the weight you wanted.

Exercise as much as you can. Even if it is just walking, it will make a huge difference. I am a big fan of weight training (don't worry, I'm not a body builder). Many women are scared of weights, thinking they will get too muscular and look manly, but unless you are a hardcore body builder, that is not the case. The more muscle you have, the faster your metabolism will be and the quicker you will loose weight. Some of the best and easiest exercises can be done from home, squats, planks, leg lifts etc. Also improving your strength (especially core strength) will make labour and your postnatal recovery a lot easier. Or so I hear anyway!

    Best of luck!

Well I stopped taking my pill 40 days ago and no sign of a period! I hadn't even realised it'd been that long but hoping something shows up soon. I don't really even feel like it's on it's way anytime soon. Hope it shows up soon and things start to get back to normal, otherwise TTC might take quite a while!

I'm completely stuck about what to do on the job front. The thought of being in my current role for another month is horrible at the moment, never mind another year. But then if I change jobs we'd have to put everything on hold for even longer until I was eligible for maternity.

Part of me is inclined to just leave it to fate and see what happens...!

Hi, hope you dont mind me joining. Ive been lurking on here for a while and finally thought it was time to say Hi.

Bit about me: I got married almost a year ago, and me and my husband decided 2013 would be an 'us' year before we started ttc. We have a holiday booked in the summer and I plan on coming off the pill after that- I have been on the pill for over 11 years now, so Im thinking it will take a while to get back to 'normal' (I say that but was never regular before I went on the pill, so have no idea what it will be like when I come off the pill).

So- I could be on here for a while!

Friends keep saying about a holiday next year, or going to a festival- I have no idea what to do, what if I book things and then end up pregnant and have to let friends down, but then what if I dont make plans and then it takes me ages to get pregnant!
