  • well gave in and tested but it was a BFN...not surprised but still no sign of AF. I've only been of the pill for 4 months (after almost 9 years on it) so I suppose it'll take some time for my cycles to get back to normal.

Spoke to DH earlier, and all is good again :) He's just worried that if we get pregnant before we manage to buy a house, we will never be able to afford a house...but he is quite happy to continue NTNP in the meantime.

im glad ur DH is still up for NTNP hun,,,, :( sorry to hear it was BFN .... sending baby vibes too you .... hopefully it won't take too long and you will have a BFP :)
I'm still here, lurking :o :hello:

    Hello All,

Nice to see some regulars are still here.

We were going to start TTC in January 2013 however after a good talk at the weekend we have decided to put it off for a year. One of the main reasons is that it will be hard to afford childcare costs for 2nd to 3rd year of the child being here, therefore we have said that if we wait another year we can save up that money. Is annoying and disappointing to wait that long and I turn 30 next month so feel like I am getting older especially if I want at least two children. I have asked if we can get a puppy early next year after we get back from our honeymoon. I read that this is what Kate did, although some people think it's best to get a puppy after you have a child.

I will be honest on a bit of a downer about it and was looking forward to TTC, although my body needs to get used to not being on the pill (been on it for 12 years) and coming off of it next month.

Hugs for all that need them.

hi hunni, sorry to hear about needing to put it off for a year,,, but as i keep saying to myself ... all good things come to those that wait ....

as regards to a puppy not trying to put you off but,,,
i have had my lab since he was 12 weeks old and its only been the last few weeks that i have found him the same amount of work as a baby. i had by son in 2009 we got our dog xmas 2010 and i have found the dog harder than LO up intill a few weeks ago ... now its about equal and the dog is 26 months old now :o and LO is 4 next month.... when they are puppies they are so energetic our lab would never settle to lie down i had to have him sleep in our room for a few weeks at one stage because he would just wine the house down, id let him out give him a drink, give him some food and he would still winge and whine so he would end up sleeping in our room so he didnt end up waking LO up. i wouldn't change having him tho, and don't forget (everyone laughs when i say this) babies poo in a nappy .... dogs will poo all over your floor (untill they are trained)...way up the pros and cons before you get a dog .... a cat is a lot easier (i have had one of them too) ... good luck xxxx
they are lovely but can be such hard work, the dog i mean :o

  • Hi blondy24, sorry you are having to wait another year, but if its anything like this year it'll fly past!

And I agree with optimistic mummy, puppies can be harder work at times than a baby! My lab is almost 7 and thinks he's still 7 months he's so hyper! Have you seen marley and me? i think everyone who is planning getting a dog should watch it first! (saying that, maybe its just labs that are like this..hmmm..)

^^ this made me LOL i don't know weather it is just labs but you know the part where he chews the dry wall!!! when our lab was 5 months old we put him in the porch for 10 mins while we popped to the local show and came back to find he had chewed as high up as he could reach and as wide as he could ... = massive hole in my wall  it was that big it took plasterboard to sort it as it was too big of a hole to fill :o x

  • Hello, thank you both for the advice. I like that film!

I did have a lab about 5 years ago she was 8 weeks old and knew what it was like to bring her up, she did need puppy training and did chew the straight walls (unsure how haha!!). Unfortunately due to ex relationship I had to give her up to my parents when she was 2 years old and regret it since. I would love to have her back but can't do that parents. That's why we are thinking of getting one for ourselves. The lab was well trained and yes I agree they are hard work but they are rewarding too. So hard to know what to do, hate waiting another year!
  • My lab was a rescue boy, so I missed his puppy years really (he was 18 months)..so no chewing holes in walls etc (spines on books that hang over the edge of the bookcase shelf, yes!). He's like Marley (from the film) in that he still has no real recall skills (despite hours and hours of training), all it takes is one thing to grab his attention and I/DH don't exist...and he still won't walk on the lead nicely...

In fact one thing I am not looking forward to about being (heavily) pregnant and when I have a LO in a buggy is how to manage walking the dog! I really have no idea, especially if the dog takes off after a deer/see's another dog/person/cat/anything that moves!

Agh, just looked out my window and my blue car is now white from snow, only been home 30 mins - got to go back to work now, but if this keeps up then I might send myself home early (am the only one in lol)
  • currently ovulating- and next month will be trying for a baby! cant help but feel so excited as next month this time of the month will be so important :)
