  • Hi Everyone

I wondered if i could join this thread? You all seem really nice and supportive of each other here! I've only managed to get through a few of the previous pages in this thread but as there are 141 pages i'm sure you'll forgive me!

Me and my other half have been together about 5 1/2 years now and he has been out of work for the last few months since we moved to a different part of the country for my job. He's managed to secure a permanent job now so we were going to start trying right about now but we had a chat and decided that we should wait for a couple of months so that he has time to settle in to his new job and I am confirmed as permanent in mine.

I decided last week to go and get another 3 months worth of contraceptive pills so we are planning to start trying at the end of February. We aren't going to 'try' try, just not going to be careful. I'm excited but also when we were having the conversation about whether to go back for more pills, I was also absolutely terrified! Strange since we both want kids!

I also figured that these three months will allow me to start taking folic acid and lose a few lbs - could do with losing about 1/2 a stone.

We haven't told anyone about our plans (although i have told my best friend and now all of you!). I'm a bit concerned about my mum's reaction (although i'm 30 next year so I am a grown up!)- she mentioned something in passing a few months back about how we couldn't have a baby until we were married and she was retired so she could come and babysit. We aren't married but planning to get engaged this year and have a house together, plus she retires next December. I have a feeling she was joking at the time, so i think next time i see her in a couple of weeks i will drop a few "what if" scenarios in and see how she reacts - I will choose a time when she is cooing over baby clothes or little wooden toys at the christmas markets..or maybe when she's had some mulled wine! :-)

In an ideal world I would love to have done the whole house, marriage, kids in that order but with the extortionate cost of weddings these days and the fact I would rather spend the money on a dining table/new mattress/dishwasher etc. for the house, i'm not really in any hurry. As long as we know we will be together until we are old and grey is it really that important whether we sign the bit of paper now or in a few years time?

Wow, I do ramble on! Newbie to posting on forums x

  • hi all, how are we all doing?

not a lot doing here, have been laid up with a horrible cold all week - and ovulation was due this week too - so not been BD'ing at all...I know we are meant to be NTNP, but I still like to keep track of my cycles...not temping (yet!) though...

Was at my inlaws last weekend, and my SIL was talking about selling of all her baby things (her youngest is 18 months and they have no plans for anymore), really wanted to say 'no, keep them for us and we'll buy them!' but we don't want anyone to know we're even thinking about trying at the moment...SIL is not the most organised however, and she prob won't sell anything until they move house, which is meant to be spring next year, maybe then we'll take them lol!

on a plus side, we now have wardrobes in the new house, so no longer living out of suitcases! and we are putting our xmas tree up tomorrow too!

hello to any newbies and hugs to all those that need them xxx
  • Hi everyone, it took me a while to find the thread with the new boards sub-sections...
Hope you're all doing fine, I've been reading a few of the posts so hugs to all who need them ;)
Well, husband and I have decided to NTNP from Christmas :j:j:j
Now that we have some money saved up to buy a house next year and that I've lost 3st and a bit, we feel much more confident. I'm so excited and scared and emotional :p.
I'll still stay on this board for a moment as I'm not ready to post on the TTC thread yet...
:grinheart It's Mrs Coupon now - saving and comping my way to a brighter future :grinheart
  • gl 2 u for after xmas misscoupon.
im still chipping away at the debt, i will get there, i will!!!
ive tryed to convince DP to start NTNP now as the debt isn't a massive amount but he's not budging on the idea, so feeling rather deflated. a lot is happening within the family with new babies ect... so im finding it rather difficult at the moment :( and loosing motivation. im also scared that even once the debt is paid DP will go back on his word! ,,, sorry feeling really down today needed to vent. hope everyone is well, hugs to those that need/want one x speak soon x

Hi ladies hope all is well!!

I have decided that I cant wait any longer to TTC so am moving back across to the TTC thread!!

Next month will be the due date for the baby I lost in July and will be exactly a year since we first started TTC (before having a break). I just dont want to wait any longer to complete my family I'm too impatient!

Hope all goes well when you ladies decide to start your TTC journeys!! And fingers crossed I see some of you on the pregnancy boards rather than the TTC board IYKWIM! xx

    Hey All

I've moved across to the other thread too, as we decided to throw caution to the wind and go for it. My cycle is still weird post-implant. Last month is was only 20 days, so I am expecting it to take a long time anyway!

    Hugs to all x

  • wow lots of people moving across to the other board, I'm sticking here lol, still doesn't feel like we are really trying yet!

Hugs for you Optimistic Mummy, it's really rubbish when one of you is ready and the other isn't, I spent most of this year getting really frustrated with DH as he wouldn't consider even trying, but over the past couple of months he has come round to the idea and has realised we aren't getting any younger (I'm 28, DH is 33) and that it might actually take a while.

I'm still all up-in-the-air with work, agh it is driving me insane! Had pretty much decided to look for something else as really not able to save or pay of debts on my part time wages, don't really want to leave my job as I enjoy it, but needs must...however, a member of my team today handed in her notice, so they might make my role FT and not take on anyone else, but I won't know for sure until after the new year..I want to know NOW!!!
  • Good luck Amus and Lara!!

I suppose I should move over to that thread too really, but I'm happy to stay here while we see how things go with our NTNP, too big a leap for me at the moment to move to the other thread!

Bride2be that sucks! Have you told them you would like to go full time if the opportunity arises?

  • Not sure...it's a small family run business and I'm always on the scrounge for extra hours lol...but the owners are away on holiday until start of jan, so they don't even know that someone has handed in their notice yet! So that's why I have to wait to find out what is happening..

Grr, just went onto fb and yet another friend has announced her pregnancy with a scan pic...and of course we are going to be getting all about Kate and Wills pregnancy in the news for months on end....though when I went on a big rant about that one to DH, he was lovely and said it would be our turn soon, bless him!
