Hi Bazzi! Fingers crossed that your body go back to "normal" quickly :) Why would you get spots though? Is it a side effect of "withdrawal" from hormonal contraception?

We have not moved yet, we only complete at the end of the week and then we have to wait a little longer before moving as I have an important deadline on October 15th (we have an overlap with our rental property, thank God). But it's very stressful because I can't see an end to the packing!!

Hormonal contraception has the bonus side effect of keeping your hormones pretty stable and that tends to keep your skin clear (some teenagers are actually prescribed the pill to help with acne). Some people do have break outs after coming off the pill or other hormonal contraceptives. I never had particularly bad skin as a teenager so I'm hoping that carries on now!

I can sympathise with the stress of moving -the actual process of moving is the one downside to my new job. We won't actually move until early December but I'm quite tempted to start packing up things that aren't regularly used now so there's less to do later. Over the weekend I went through my wardrobe and sorted out things that aren't worn anymore to go to a charity shop...the more I can clear out now, the less there will be to move! I can't believe how much stuff we've accumulated in the year that we've been here and dread to think what the move will be like...I really hope we get either a ground floor flat or somewhere with a lift!

    Hi All,

I have been lurking on here for a long while now and have enjoyed reading it all!!! Thought the time had come to introduce myself!!!

I am 36 and have no kids; OH has 2 kids 18 and 15, who he has 50% custody of. He has no problem having more kids and said that at the beginning, 6 and half years ago!!!

At the moment we can’t get any more kids in the house and the OH is self employed and all his work stuff is in the house, so we need to move before TTC!!! Been looking for 6 months!!!

I had my 3rd implant removed last week and I am currently waiting for the side effects to subside.... Temperature, exhaustation, headaches and Nausea... been a fun week!!! It was due to come out anyway and felt there was no point having it replaced, if we were going to TTC in the near future. Also, OH was calling me a miserable cow due to my mood swings, so thought it may help with that!!!!

Lots of my friends have had babies lately and starting to feel very broody.... I am very sensible and think I need to get a house first and do it all properly, but I know it will never be the perfect time. One of friends is a single parent and manages, so I think if she can do it by herself, we should be able to manage, and then my sensible side kicks in!!!!

I have also given up smoking this week and it was getting way too expensive and need to save some money!!! Picked up some folic acid on the way to work his morning!!! Only slightly overweight, so need to lose a few pounds, which will prove difficult at the mo, as few issues with my back which meant I had to give up netball 3 yrs ago.

I think I have got everything off my chest, TTC Jan 2013 seems realistic at this point!!!

Thanks all for the advice over the last few months.
  • glad you are all well. i've been feeling a bit unwell lately. headaches everyday for the last week AF is late again. (had the depo june 2011 was due to have it again aug/sept 11 but didn't so only had 1 shot and had irregular periods ever since) i'm on the same pill i was on when i fell pregnant with my son, we know we're taking a risk but its the only contraception that suits me and agreed from the start if it fails it fails we'll get through it. will have to see i'm not panicking yet as i've been 6 weeks late before and wasn't pregnant only time will tell, don't know how i would feel if i was obv i'd be over the moon but had planned to get the debt paid off first only time will tell. .... not much happening tho still slowly clearing the debt so we can start TTC ASAP ... speak soon take care everyone xxx

  • optimistic_mummy - I hope you're feeling better or that you will be soon.

welsh-cosmic - Welcome to the thread! January 2013 will be here before you know it so it'll be a short stay for you. I hope the adjustment to having your implant out is going ok and that the side-effects are going or gone. I'm of a similar age to you and know what it's like to be surrounded by women who are having babies. The number of people I know without little ones has fallen dramatically over the past year or so and there seem to be babies everywhere I look. I'm not sure if it's a good thing or not, but after months of being so broody it hurts I am now so stressed with work and moving etc that I don't really have the mental energy to be broody. I'm sure that'll only last until I next see a baby up close though lol

Hope everyone has had a good week - it's almost the weekend! :)

Thanks Bazzi for the precisions on acne and hormonal contraception. I had absolutely no idea. I used to have a lot of acne the week before my periods were due. But as I grew older, it almost completely disappeared. Now I get the exact same spot roughly a week before my period is due :rotfl: So it may that you won't have a sudden surge of spots. As we grow older, our bodies handle hormones much more efficiently it seems.

And I know what you mean about being too busy to be broody! DH has just left again and I am on my own working from 7am till 9pm (I'm a workaholic when on my own!) and I don't feel broody in the slightest, what with the house move, etc. But as soon as he is back I get all hormonal!! :D

Optimistic_mummy, how are you doing today? I too hope that you feel better soon. You have enough on your plate as it is, what with your LO, your studies etc! Do let us know how you are.

Welcome to the thread Welsh-cosmic! :) Bazzi is right, January will be there before you even know it! It may be that we start TTC at the same time because if I reach my target weight by Christmas, DH and I said we may try from January onward (instead of waiting for April as we originally wanted).

I have good news: we completed on our first house just under an hour ago :D We can't move in yet as I have to stay put for a university assignment deadline looming (I need the internet and instant access to the university library). But as soon as it is out of the way: moving time!!! It can't come soon enough. Thank God we decided to leave an overlap between our house purchase and our tenancy agreement. It means we have roughly a fortnight to move: perfect! We're going to the new house (3 hours away) to clean it from top to bottom while it's empty next week. And then I can keep packing and decluttering in our flat.

Have a lovely weekend girls :)
  • Woop! Congratulations on the house purchase Ellie! That's so exciting! Will you have much work to do on the new house or does it just need a good clean then it'll be sorted?

It'll need a VERY good clean. :D And some work, but nothing urgent (mostly cosmetic things). So once it's all cleaned we just have to move in, choose some curtains and curtain poles and light fixtures (the vendors are taking everything but I have already gathered som CS bargains and I have some Dunelm-Mill things in mind) and then save to redecorate to our taste when we're ready :)

    I'm so excited, I can't focus!!! :j

Thanks ladies :) I can't wait to see our humble abode empty now :D (ex owner had horrible taste...). The day didn't go very well for my poor DH yesterday who had to pick up the keys on his own. I won't tell what happened exactly (I a always paranoid about losing my anonymity) but needless to say we were happy when it was finally all over :)

Optimistic-mummy, I apologise for the silly question but does your headache is linked to your over health problems? I send you internet vibes so you get better fast :)
