  • Well done on getting the new job BrownEyedBazzi!

I didn't get the job I interviewed for last week, and am waiting on hearing about another interview I had this week, but not expecting to get it as I blew the interview big time - I had to do a presentation lasting ten minutes, but mine was only about 5 as I was so nervous, raced through it and then forgot half the stuff I wanted to say. :o

We're another one in the 'buying a house first' camp. Unfortunately, it's a long way off :( we're looking to rent another house first, as this one is just too small and having neighbour and landlord issues at the moment. Unfortunately, rental prices here have gone through the roof, and we'd be paying almost double what we are at the moment. And would be cheaper with a mortgage, but the small matter of a deposit and outstanding debts is in our way...Grr, like sucks sometimes!

To all those who have stopped contraception in preparation for TTC - what's the best thing for dealing with PMT? I've been away on holiday this week, and been so grumpy and the tiniest little thing had me in a rage. Was never like that while on the pill, and just felt it ruined our holiday (thankfully, OH was very lovely and understanding, bless him!). On the plus side, AF showed up this morning and not had any bad period pains, in fact hardly any pain at all. (touch wood is stays this way). If it hadn't been for me reading up on how cycles work etc, then I wouldn't have even been expecting it! I was really dreading my 1st period off the pill, as heavy, painfull and irregular periods were my main reason for going on the pill years ago. And I had a couple of painful periods when I changed from the injection back to the pill. So keeping my fingers crossed for no pain!

Sorry for the long rambling post!
  • amus - fingers crossed that you hear good news about your interview soon! I was really glad that they called me really quickly to offer the job I interviewed for because I hate the feeling of there being people sat in a room judging etc. It is so difficult to say how an interview went because you have no idea what the other candidates were like so you don't know what you're being compared against and I think we're often really critical of ourselves.

bride2be - sorry to hear that you didn't get the job. I bet you didn't do as badly as you think - have you asked them for feedback?

The whole buying/renting thing is so difficult! I am going to take a break from the rightmore website for a little while I think because I'm seeing things that I really like now that will probably be gone before we're in a position to move.

  • Was talking to OH about what contraception to use earlier as implant runs out next month.

Did not really want another one as this time have had bleeding lasting 14 days plus at times but after discussing it don't want to use the pill as contraception as it is far too easy to get pregnant on it (have used it sometimes to regulate) and want TTC to be our choice and looked into it further and OH thinks I should do what I want and talk to GP or family planning but implant sounds best as looked at injections but can effect fertlity upto a year after. Nice for him to be thinking along those lines as he is a little reluctant to disuss things that seem a bit far off to him :).

  • Afternoon all :D

Appointment with the GP this morning went well. No physical reason why we shouldn't be trying for children so got a load of print outs of stuff to read up on and she also recommended looking up Emmas Diary online as she said it's run in conjunction with the NHS so all information on there is factually correct, thought it might be useful to mention incase anyones interested.

rubyinamountainofrocks - I'm curious what you mean about the pill being far too easy to get pregnant on?? Just I've been on the pill for 11 years now and it's always worked fine for me, as far as I know it's a very reliable form of contraception as long as it's used correctly.

Great news about your appointment Choc_chick! I'll have a look at the website your GP mentioned too so thanks for sharing.

I've never thought it was easy to pregnant on the pill either - if you take it correctly then it's one of the most reliable forms of contraception. For 'normal' usage the results are not quite as good because a lot of people skip pills etc. but still better than a lot of the alternatives. I use the patch instead - the same drug but a different format - because I am rubbish at remembering to take tablets.

I think Ruby meant to say that it is easy to forget it, get sick (which means it could be "expelled" out of the body), etc :)

Chocoholic, that's great news, and thank you for telling us about this diary: I'll have a look at it, if only to know what happens when pregnant :)
  • Personally I would advise against knowing what happens until you are pregnant...otherwise you might get put off!

 I'll stick to the TTC part of the site then (the fun bit :p ) I had a quick look at the diary, it is really good! There is a whole section on pre-TTC: more things to read and learn about :rotfl:

In the meantime, just had an NHS letter: time for the cervical smear test :(

Diz, I just saw that in your sig:

    First Definitely Saw Kicks (26+5),

What do you mean you saw the kicks? I dread to think... I have an overactive imagination...

It can be a bit like that alien film...I've seen photos where you can actually see the outline of a foot when they kick. It creeps me out! My partner thinks it won't be as gross when it actually happens for us, but the thought of it now makes me feel a bit queezy!
