Hello Ladies
It's nice to read that people are feeling the same as me - I've been wondering recently if I should just get my coil removed and see what happens.
I'm 35 so starting to think I shouldn't wait a moment longer but I'm getting married in 7 weeks and going on my honeymoon in February - there is a lady in the office who is pregnant and has suffered terribly with morning sickness/tiredness etc. We've discussed TTC and she has said to definitely wait until the honeymoon as it has ruined a couple of her holidays but they weren't a big long haul holidays as she knew she was pregnant and 5 months waiting won't really make any difference.
So basically I'm torn as my head says stick to the plan to have coil removed January and my heart sometimes says hurry.
I've been taking folic acid for about 1 month now for the reasons Bazzi gave - it's easy to do, I understand there are no side effects to taking it so why not!?
I got married at the start of this month, and had my coil removed about a week later. I still haven't had a period, so I personally would recommend getting the coil taken out a few months earlier & use alternative methods to stop you getting pregnant, to allow your body to return to normal.0 -
Thanks for that Credit_crunch - was yours a copper coil or hormone releasing one please?
I have a copper coil and I understood that once it is out I'm good to go as I have regular, natural (I think!?) cycles now...perhaps i'll make an appointment with the practice nurse to confirm this is indeed the case as I want to TTC properly in January.
Congratulations on your wedding!!Got married October 2012 :jHoping to conceive 20130 -
hi babymad, i had the mirena coil for almost 3 years, and never had a period with it.
the doc said i should be ready to go once it was removed, but obviously without having any periods yet, if I did fall PG then I would have no idea about dates etc0 -
Thanks Credit_crunch!
Oooh no periods for 3 years - how marvellous!!
I've just been googling copper coils and i'm even more certain that is what i have.
Fingers crossed your cycle returns shortly thenGot married October 2012 :jHoping to conceive 20130 -
i think ill be leaving a bit sooner, boo but yay at the same time.
Had my coil removed last night, so thats me now, but we're not going to be specifically trying for a little while anyway, so ill stick around for now

Wow trina! That's very exciting
Trinity - you won't be alone after december, I'd love to be ttc tomorrow but I think realistically I'll be here for a year or so yet.
I've been using a hormonal contraceptive for years and I'm really thinking about coming off it now and using other methods because I've been suffering with headaches a lot recently and would really like to try to get back to a normal cycle.Common sense?...There's nothing common about sense!0 -
I'll be around for a good while yet too I think! After having a carp time with jobs at the start of the year, I'm currently working 2 P/T positions, but have been looking for 1 full time (makes life and getting a mortgage easier!). There's been nothing for ages, but had one interview yesterday, another one start of next week and waiting to hear back from 2 applications as well. So if anything comes of these, then we'll be waiting until maternity benefits kick in before TTC.
I've been off the Pill now for 3 weeks, and have had a withdrawl bleed. I was on the pill for almost 9 years (bar a year on the injection), and went on it coz my periods were heavy, irregular and painful. So I'm not looking forward to starting that carry on again! So depending on how that goes, and how long we delay TTC coz of my job situation, I may go back on the pill for a short while. Still have 2 months worth supplies at home anyhow.
(PS, hello to all the newbies!)0
