Hi Lovely Ladies,
Can I please join you!?
I've lurked for a little while and finally think I'm ready to say: 'I'm WTTTC' lol.
A bit about me: I've just turned 25, and after feeling semi-broody for about a year, it's kind of hit me full on now! I'd like to wait a little while as I never do anything without loads of planning first, and to be honest I'm a little scared!
My main aim is for me and my BF to buy a bigger house before we start trying, so I'm working on the timescale of (hopefully) <12months.
The big thing is my BF is 38, and he's so keen to get our family started. I know I want to do this with him, but I'd just like us to move house first. And I wouldn't mind being married first either. Oh God, I just don't know what to do. Sometimes i just feel like 's*d it, let's do it now' but the next minute I get my 'sensible' head on and talk myself out of it.
So maybe now I've got it out in the open, I can set my timescale and start working towards it...

Welcome to the thread kittybangbang
Had a nice few days away and OH and we had a chat about when the "right time" would be for us. I think the plan is once I finish the two packs of pills I have left not to renew and use condoms for a few months so I can get used to my monthly cycles without being on the pill. Not sure how I'll find it, I've been on the pill since I was 15 due to bad PMT etc so it's going to take some adjusting to I think. I've been taking folic acid for 3 months now to start preparing my body and now I'm going to address my weight ( got about a stone or so to lose to get to a healthy BMI ). Hopefully all being well we should be able to start TTC around December as planned. Really hope we can, the baby talk at work is becoming unbearable, someones planning on TTC next year and is openly talking about it to the whole company, but we haven't discussed it with anyone ( apart from you ladies! ) I just don't want the constant questions and additional stress of people second guessing whether I'm pregnant or not etc I guess I find it a little odd to be so open about TTC with colleagues, but I suppose different things work for different people!
I can relate to wanting to buy things, I just don't want to curse us ( we seem to always have bad luck, everyone comments on it! ) so the plan is not to buy anything until the 3 month scan when I know everything is ok.... at least thats the theory! Hi ladies, and welcome to the new joiners!
I've had a bit of a stressy week and have been in broodiness overdrive since spending a day with some friends and their little ones over the weekend.
I agree with sammy and choc_chick about it being a little odd to be openly discussing ttc at work! I wouldn't dream of discussing it with anyone other than my partner...my close friends know that I want to have a baby and that we have plans for the future but actually talking about when you'll try or hope to be pregnant etc just seems really risky. If things don't go to plan it would be horrible to have people asking all the time how it's going. Same goes for buying baby things for me - I feel like it tempts fate a bit and I'd struggle to cope with having all the cute baby things around and not having a baby to go with them if things don't work out. I think I'm already tempting fate enough by waiting at my age so I'm not going to take any more risks!Common sense?...There's nothing common about sense!0 -
hehe suppose its personal choice about the buying things early issue- i dont see it as tempting fate- i look at it that im preparing and saving money. my tesco vouchers for example were running out- i doubled them with the exchange event and got a cot for £10. (its currently under the spare bed)
if i didnt buy that then it would have been spent on fuel for the car or food- boring! lol
personal choice i know!
woo start folic acid on sat- thats really gonna feel like the start of the journeyIs a married woman!! 23rd July 2011 Best day of my life!

Thanks for the welcome
That sounds like a good plan choc_chic. My doc has given me a year's supply!!! So maybe by the time those are gone I'll be ready...december will be here before you know it!
I think people only ask the baby questions as everyone gets so excited about new babies! The all see us getting to a certain age and settling down and assume its the next step. I wouldn't discuss it with work colleagues, 1 cos they're all male and i think its not their preferred type of conversation and 2 because I really want a promotion and don't want any prejudiced decisions...
I know when it gets nearer the time I'll start stocking up on little baby things! Maybe tempting fate, but who knows...0
