I applied three weeks ago and I'm still waiting to receive anything!

I called them up one and a half weeks ago as they sent me a letter in the post "as they needed more info" and all they wanted to do was confirm my date of birth :(

  • Hi AllWell what can I say? I opened up a citibank bank account and a flexible saver account. Firstly, I had problems paying money in as they only have a few branches. However, you can pay money in at Lloyds TSB but it takes 7-8 days to get the cash or cheques credited into your Citibank account. Secondly, when your account low on funds, the bank will go into your savings and deduct monies from savings and credit your bank account without your knowledge. It seems that your money belongs to them first before it belongs to you or that you have a joint bank account with citibank!I am fuming to note that every month I credit my savings and the bank withdraws double the amount and credits my bank account. I mean I thought it was my responsibility to deal with my financial affairs and monitor my own account. Most people's bank accounts are usually low on funds the week before their salary is due. What Citibank is doing "IS THIS LEGAL"???Very angry customer!!!!!!

  • Are they doing that to meet a payment from your current account ?

I'd be interested as I've just opened a flexible saver with them.
  • It's happened to me before real b player. But they only took the exact amount needed to cover the payment. I personally thought this was a good idea as it stopped me getting bank charges.

    Yes me too!

I keep a small amount in one of my savings accounts with them just for this reason.... Saves having to have an overdraft with them.

I agree. Is this documented anywhere though?

It would be really handy if you could set it up so that the current account got automatically topped up by the saver account as required - it'd save me having to do it manually!

I'm not sure to be honest.

I've sent them an online message for clarification. I'll let you know the result.
