Recent CitiBank Applicant?

Hey guys,
Just wanted to give an update.
I received my documents back yesterday in the post. And today received a rather puzzling call from Citibank. Went through all the rigmorole of security checks, then a rather confused lady proceeded to tell me she was unsure why a call was instigated and would pass me to a manager. Waited a few minutes for the manager to come on the call, and ask me security questions (again), before telling me my application had been declined.
The even stranger part, is when I arrived home from work this evening a letter was waiting from Citibank informing me they are currently dealing with my application and if they need any further information they would get in touch ... with a nice comment at the bottom "We look forward to welcoming you as a customer..."
Hmmmmmmm!?

How odd! Makes me nervous about an app. I've put in, they sent a letter saying approved in principle, which should be good news, but given the inconsistency - I'll wait until I've got a welcome pack.
Are you going to appeal your decline?0 -

As detailed above, all applicants get the approved in principle - but they have not checked you at that point, they await I.D and forms signed then check you and usually at this point the decline comes, around the same time as the letter saying thanks for sending back the documents, we're dealing with the account and look forward to welcoming you as a new customer.
Obviously, as shown in this thread - that letter means little cos they can decline the same day they send the letter out.
Look at my dealings with them, they declined me a bank account but gave me a gold card! Lol, ok whatever Citi2010 - year of the troll

They said I did not meet their lending criteria for a Credit Card, yet are more than happy to let me run up their £500 fee free overdraft, which makes them no money whatsoever, instead of letting me have a card that may make them a bit of cash here and there.
I found sending in a strict letter to Customer Services in London, showing proof of what you have and don't have generally works well, however, you have to get your crystal ball out to know the outcome, and oddly enough you NEVER seem to get a response to your letter, you either know the outcomes by either suddenly finding you have an overdraft you didn't have before, or a card arrives out of the blue, one wonders who these people are in London, that makes them so un-contactable.0 -
I recently opened a Citibank account and the account was opened smoothly despite having no credit history.
Something which did puzzle me though is that on receiving my Experian credit report there were 3 unrecorded enquiries from EGG BANKING GROUP which I believe are now part of Citibank?
The fact that they are unrecorded does not bother me, but strange all the same?
I am wondering if anyone else who has recently applied has had the same?0 -

When "they" decided I was eligible to apply for their overdraft, they did a credit search again, which I think was unrecorded, god knows why they did this, as I had been with them since Dec07 with no problems.
I think they make up new stuff to please themselves each week, they are part of EGG yes, who strangely enough didn't think I was good enough for one of their cards either, bizarre!!0 -
Already with citibank so not really the correct thread to post in, but didn't want to start a new thread.........
I was due to get a payment from my work by monday. A few people got there payment on friday, and I thought mine would possibly in today, as it wasn't on friday.
The question is, can you get a payment appearing in your bank on a monday with citibank?
I know with my old bank if something was due on a monday it went in on a saturday, and nothing ever went in on a monday.0 -

Or have people found that Citi are still accepting them, despite having ignored that and gone ahead and put less than £20k on the form?0 -
It still says it when you start to apply:

Mate Citi are no longer 'easy' to get accepted with. This was the case a year or so ago, but not now. The salary may state £20k but go ahead and apply, others have been successful - even those on benefits but like I say, this was then - not so much now :mad:2010 - year of the troll
