Well after applying on sunday, I recieved the application pack Tuesday night ...

The welcome letter clearly stated "Welcome to CitiBank" and advised to sign and date the enclosed agreement. What was strange about this is at the top of the document it said to sign and date the document and return along with documentation detailed in the checklist below...

The checklist simply said "Signed and Dated Agreement" and nothing else!?

Ah well lol, i enclosed a signed copy of my passport, several original bills, a signed copy of my tenancy agreement as well as my recent wage slip and bank statement :D

I'll keep ya all in the loop when i receive a response ;)

Good luck - citi perform additional checks when you return the forms. Are you sure it wasn't an ID check they done at Equifax cos citi use Experian - always have mate..... ?

I applied for bank and gold card (same application) back in december, got the gold card but declined me bank account (weird bunch as marcellop says!)

    Hi Guys,

Thanks for feedback. Possible that they only did an ID check, and that would probably explain why they didnt require any documentation on the application form? The credit search appears to have only been done on my previous address so does look like they've ID checked me. Equifax advises me online that these searches are not seen my creditors / lendors.

I phoned up Citibank this morning to ask if they received my application pack. Was told by the girl that my application had been approved but as yet there was no information on file and to call back monday.
    do you have any adverse?

    Many searches?
According to my file with Equifax, i had 2 previous searched over past 6 months ... now with the Citibank shows as three which made me think they'd searched me already. An ID check doesn't show as previous search per-se?

Certainly a weird bunch I agree lol

    Thanks for your reply.

Any searches in table two do not show to other lenders....

Can I ask a rather personal question do you earn £20,000 or over, or is that Citi just trying to get people to apply for the added value accounts.

I think they have stopped asking for the salary requirement mate - it used to be a condition, now they seem to accept without meeting it. :D

I earn approx £18k a year, so would say that this pre-requisite doesn't apply. I didnt really want to rock the boat during my conversation with their staff so missed this information out :s...

    Hi Guys,

Just wanted to ask a quick question. Having gone through my credit file with a fine tooth comb, i have two defaults on my account and quite a bad rating. I recently applied for an abbey account and was turned down, and at the recommendation from a friend applied for a citibank current account with O/D today. Does citibank offer instant decisions?

After filling in the application and submitting, i received a promt saying "My application was sucessfull and the relevant documentation will be with me in 3/4 days, which I must sign and return with supporting documentation"

Does this mean my application was sucessful?

    Cheers in advance

    Ross

Citi Bank don't usually give Instant Decisions, usually you apply on-line,and then they send you out details to sign and send back ID, and usually a cheque to deposit into your account, which has to be drawn in your name from a UK Bank, then they do further checks and then either accept or decline you.

They are an odd bunch though, they only gave me a 2-1 card back in December 07, then in May 08 they said I qualified for their 3-1 card, which I got the £100 Cheque Card from them, then I did not meet their eligibility for an overdraft of £500 interest free, despite having salary in the account monthly, and asking every other month to have one. Then they changed the account over to their product account, £10 per month, and still could not have the overdraft, then I proved I had an overdraft with Nationwide in May of this year, then they credit checked me, and then I moved my salary to Nationwide, then Citi gave me the £500 overdraft, and I don't have my salary credited to them anymore, just deposits..........but I just cannot leave them, I guess I am just a creature of habit really.
