Sorry to disagree I think icesave are great better even than ing used to be before I left them well apart from £2 that is, I have had no problems at all.

I agree with you Gary, well almost, I've only left £1 with ING, and I'm not sorry to disagree, I think Icesave are doing a fine job, they had 1 or 2 minor hiccups to start off with but what new project doesn't?

I applied to Icesave on-line on the 1st of February. After asking them over a week ago to close my account I have today (the 6th of March) finally received the 'welcome pack' and information about using the account. I'm glad that some readers have had better luck, but you can tell from the postings that Icesave leave much to be desired.

You only joined a few days ago must have spent most of the time reading up on all the old posts. A lot of the comments over icesave were from those that could not tell their DD from their elbow.
I am one of the icesave supporters up until now I have nothing but praise for them, they have shaken up the saving market a bit, just look at those that are now trying to compete with similar interest rates.
I got my welcome pack as it said on the tin inside 2 weeks, when you applied beacon it was about the time ing fixed rates were ending and many of their customers turned to the dark side (icesave) so they could have been very busy. I allowed for a 1 month change over just in case.

Been with the Dark-side ( nice one H-O) since day one,
no money left in ING now.

Money transfers in and out, all work fine by DD.
    No probs. Interest added monthly.
    Wouldn't be with anyone else.

Just set up an Icesave account vrey recently, last 2 weeks or so, had all the documentation come through in good time.

Punted off the £250 and that arrived no problems.

Some confusion as I wanted to BACS transfer money into my Icesave account, using their methods.
Mailed them with the query, and they said it should be available, but when I rang up they said it was only possible for transfers the other way.

Strangely I have set the money to be pulled tomorrow, and it reckons it will be there Friday, which is only 2 working days - thought it was more than that, like 4?

Direct debit question: This money will be the deposit for our upcoming house purchase, so I will need to get to it for the initial 10% deposit for exchange, and then the rest of the actual deposit.
As it stands I will need to BACS transfer it to my current account (Same working day) and then BACS transfer it again to my solicitor.

I read with some concern the statement above about not being able to move funds transferred by DD for 7 days, is this working days?

I am assuming this will only scupper me on the initial transfer from Icesave to my current account, but will mean I need to leave plenty of time for these 7 days to elapse - an anyone tell me for sure please?

    Many thanks

    Dan

Could not agree more, have had excellent service. Just had a blip on their website for a weekend a month or so ago when things were extremely busy. Joined Icesave in October and had all my funds in ING before transferring to Icesave in November when ING wrote to say their customers were not intersted in high interst rates!
Icesave account has been just as good as ING, ie. trouble free.
Do not see a problem with having to wait before new funds can be transferred out, after all it is a Savings Product. If I want money out there is always money that has been in for a while,

AFAIA, they have not yet refused a BACS transfer sent by anyone, but they do not accept them according to their T&Cs.
Strangely I have set the money to be pulled tomorrow, and it reckons it will be there Friday, which is only 2 working days - thought it was more than that, like 4?
They probably made an immediate request for the funds. Contrary to most other banks, they ask for the date the money should be transferred rather than requested. Presumably any transfers set up for fewer than 4 working days in the future are processed immediately.

BACS transfers take 3 working days. Do you mean CHAPS (which will cost you £30 each from Icesave and another £20-£30 for the second 'hop')?
I read with some concern the statement above about not being able to move funds transferred by DD for 7 days, is this working days?
    Yes, 7 working days.

No, you don't have to put in the transfer request 7 working days in advance, you just cannot transfer money out that you have paid into the account less than 7 working days ago. As soon as your money has been in the account for 7 working days, it is available for immediate withdrawal.

"Anyone got anything bad to say about the Icesave account ?!! "

YES I opened one about about 3 months ago and here's what I discovered:

    ONE

It takes a minimum of 10 days to transfer money in/out. So if you need money in a hurry you're sunk unless you pay extra for the quick transfer method.

    TWO

After a while I found it was impossible to carry out transactions on my account. I was able to log in and see my account, but putting money on or taking it out was impossible. I have other online accounts and never experienced this problem before.

I had Icesave's IT people investigate the problem. This took WEEKS during which, my account could not be used.

They came to the conclusion that because I use a dialup connection from home (I am not happy about accessing my private accounts from my work computer), it was taking too long for their pages to download and I was getting timed out every time.

THis makes no sense to me because at the beginning I did not have this problem and, as I say, I operate a number of other accounts online wiithout such problems.

Icesave seem extremely proud of their super-secure website. Unfortunately this is based on their assumption that everyone is using broadband all the time.

In the end, Icesave forced me to CLOSE THE ACCOUNT because I was unable to operate it.

    BE WARNED!

It must be me but looking back at most of the icesave critics and I find that most are members with either 1 or 2 posts is this uncanny or is it just me.

I think it's just you. I am not too happy with Icesave, find them slow to move money in and out and their website is certainly not as user friendly as Ing. Better rate though.
